He wanted to tell her, he wanted so badly. But he knew there was a chance she'd get with JJ only because she thought she should. Then she could grow to resent the two of them. JJ and her were friends, he didn't want to risk that. Sure he would've rather they be more than friends but he would make that happen somehow. The problem was, he wasn't entirely sure HOW to make that happen just yet. He'd tried everything short of locking them in a room together. Of course that wasn't exactly out of the question just yet. He liked the idea of the two of them together, they were a cute couple who had a darling daughter.
"Alright, alright. We'll deal with this later. But on a side note I'm fairly certain I was born first, making you my little sister. And you know that I only want what's best for you."
He said with a smile. He knew when to quit when he was a head. He didn't like the idea of her not talking to him or anything like that. Losing his sister would be worse than anything.
"As for the reason it's JJ, well, you were happy when you were dating him and you never gave a real reason why you ended it."
He said with a shrug. To him that was more than enough. He wished she'd give a real reason as to why she ended it. Of course maybe another part of Olly felt for him. Being told you can't have something or someone you really want for no real reason was rough to everyone. Or maybe Olly himself knew that he'd never have a real relationship, it wasn't in the cards for him. But he didn't want his sister to end up like him.

Rayne's nostrils were slight flared as she continued her glare. She liked to think that her glare was her secret weapon, like it could get her anywhere when she was annoyed enough. Her cheeks were even puffing out a little. She was such a child, especially during times like this. She probably would do well to mature a bit, but for now? She didn't feel the need for maturing.
Her glare softened a little and her puffed up cheeks deflated as a small smirk started to pull up the very corners of her lips. "You're certain but yoooou don't know for sure now do ya?" she asked, a slight teasing tone working it's way through thr annoyance. "All these years i coulda been the older one by a matter of miliseconds!" She ignored that little last bit. Yeah, she knew that. Just like all she wanted was what was best for him. So long as Olivier was okay, she would be fine. No matter how things played out in the end.
However, his next words started to bring that anger back, with a small bit of sadness at that. She had been happy? She still was happy! Why couldn't he see that? Why couldn't people realize that in general? She was just fine with the life she was living, did she really need to change that much? Settle down when she was still so young? She didn't know and, quite frankly, she didn't care. Her fingers slowly uncurled from the counter and she shifted to pick up her glass to take a swig. Don't fight. Don't get mad. He's just concerned.
She slowly drained the rum from the cup before she sighed. "I can't tell him why because he'll fight it. He'll tell me that it wasn't my decision to make. But you and i both know I'm not as good for him as either of us think. I'm reckless, i get time confused, hell, half the time i don't know where or when i am! How am.i supposed to have a normal relationship? He could do so much better than me. That and..." she took a deep breathe and closed her eyes. Olly wanted an answer? Fine, he would get the answer. "I was scared. Terrified even. And just the idea of being in something serious? What happens if it goes south? What happens if i fucked everything up? Lost my best friend, lost the person i loved because i did something stupid? I couldn't stand that thought, so i broke it off for what i thought of as the better. Okay? That's the truth."

He was glad the comment about him being older seemed to soften her slighter. That made it a little bit easier. Primarily because he didn't like her being angry at him. They rarely fought, which was good. of course when they did fight it tended to change everything. Especially because eventually the two of them would be tripping over each other to apologize. Of course Olly was usually first. He wasn't any less stubborn by any means, but he just wanted to make sure Rayne was happy and taken care of. Which was part of why JJ was good for her, by any means necessary. Those two were a great couple, plus they had a kid. Of course Barby's story was much more complicated than that. Of course the fight eventually came back, but the truth came back. He didn't like it but he also saw her point. He himself had faced the exact same issue in his life, which was partially why he was alone. Well that and no one really seemed to want to date him but that was another issue entirely.
"Cleo, I get it, I do...."
He said with a sigh before downing his rum and filling the glass again. He didn't like how this conversation was going. Why couldn't she just agree with him, date JJ and live happily ever after? of course if she knew who JJ really was it might make things even easier for her. But that wasn't his secret to share.
'It's the same reason I'm not dating anyone. Well that and most women don't really want to date me. I lie and tell myself it's the SHIELD relation. But we both know it's bull. But that's not you Cleo. It's not like he doesn't know about it. He's used to it and still puts up with you. Love is worth the risk, or so I'm told. No one seems to want to take the risk but that's another matter.'
He'd opted for their telepathy. It was more honest and more real. It was easier to convey emotion and truth between the two of them. It was when they were the most honest with each other. Of course they had little to no secrets between the two of them. Well, except for the big secret Olly knew.
'If you weren't scared about losing him, you wouldn't love him in the first place.'

If you get the chance you better keep her No, he didn't get it. Or Rayne at least doubted he got it. Well,he might think he got it. From what she had said. But there was far more to it to get. Things not even Olly could really know. Not yet at least. Everything would become clear in time. Everything had to go according to some stupid little plan. He couldn't possibly understand how she felt, though. Hell, sometimes she wasn't even sure that she could actually understand. No, it was complicated. Then again, it's always been complicated, hasn't it? Nothing could ever really be simple with her. She turned to the table to refill her glass. She was slowly starting to see that alcohol was a theme with her. She really needed to work on that, didn't she? She could hear him in her head. Going on and on and on. She didn't answer at first as she slowly drank from her cup. Sip by sip, trying to process what he said. And, while it all sounded so nice, in the end, they were all just words. Words that meant one thing to her: That he was such a hypocrit. "You sit here and try to tell me about how i'm different from you just because one guy can accept i'm a loopy little time traveler. Sure, he might be used to it, he might understand it, but that doesn't make it right to be with the guy. He has his own family to worry about and, even if you think it's not me, i have myself to care for. I don't need to be in a relationship. Sure, I might have feelings for the guy, i might even love him, but you know who i love more? Survival. Mine, his, and Barby's. And in the end, i'm pretty sure it couldn't end well with me anyway. Besides, you have that little Leader girl knowing all about your traveling. You don't see me trying to push you towards the one person who might understand. I can make my own decisions. I get it, i really do, but you should learn to trust my choices. And if I make a mistake, i'll learn from it, okay? I'm a smart girl." She had finished her glass about the same time she had finished her thoughts, setting it down and pushing it away. It was too early to try and get drunk, that was for sure. Yeah, it would help with the pain in her side, but did she really care that much? Not at all. She turned her eyes down towards the floor. If she wasn't scared, she wouldn't love him. Oh, the things he didn't even know. "Can we talk about something else? I didn't almost get killed this morning just to be berated about the people I hang around or shouldn't hang around. The people I love or shouldn't love. Okay? So please, Olly, just change the topic. I reeeeally don't feel like fighting about this." Because what he didn't know was what hurt her far more. 510 | @captain | I honestly thought this one was gonna end up being a bit shorter than that xD |
She's sweet as pie but she'll turn cold as a freezer ✿

He sat there calmly and quietly, listening to her. He knew when he'd lost, for now. But at the same time she was just as stubborn as he was. They were twins after all. However, he also had a desire to not lose her or push her away entirely. So he pulled back. He'd wait and try again some other time. He sat there calmly before lighting up another cigarette.
"Funny. All the fighting we've done, all the pathogens and viruses we've likely exposed ourselves to and all the times I've been shot, stabbed, bit and drowned, it'll probably be this that kills me. Well that or a woman. I mean if I got murdered by an angry woman would anyone really be surprised?"
He asked with a light laugh. He leaned back calmly and glanced at his journal.
"Besides, Ginnie and I have a....confusing relationship. But she loves me, I know it. She just hides it with a thick veil of utter disdain. I mean let's be honest, like she could really resist? I am a Madrox after all. Madri always get their woman, or man as it were."
He said with a light laugh. As for the real relationship he had with Ginnie deep down he knew that wasn't the case. No, he was aware she mostly hated him and wouldn't be opposed to seeing him transferred. He didn't think she'd want to see him hurt, well hurt badly. But if he got transferred she'd likely be ecstatic and even throw a party. But luckily for her he was working on getting transferred to full SHIELD field agent. Sure the liason was fun, but he wouldn't make a career with it.
