Tattoo of a heart with an arrow shot through it on her lower back.
Equipment and Weapons:
Hawkeye Suit: She wears an edited version of her father’s distinctive purple costume and mask, reduced in size to match her. It is made to provide her with warmth over the bits of her body it covers, and is lined with kevlar, providing it with some layer of protection against bullets, blades and blows.
Hawkeye Bow: She uses one of her father’s bows in combat. It is a draw-weight bow that requires a lot of physical strength to pull back and is built especially to be drawn and used in combat, but other than that there is nothing extraordinary about it.
Trick Arrows: There is a lot extraordinary about these, however. Aileen has a large number of special arrows that have been built to enhance her combat performance or fulfil other functions. She normally only has one, or maybe two of each at any one time alongside her other, normal arrows. Trick arrows include the following.
Explosive Arrows: Pretty plain and simple, these are arrows with explosives built into the arrowhead. While a small explosion, it can be used to blow a lock, or to do just that little bit more damage to an enemy.
EMP Arrows: Another pretty straightforward type of arrow, these release an electromagnetic pulse when they’re fired, killing machinery and generally shutting things down. The EMP is rather short ranged, however.
Smoke Arrows: Arrows with a hollow arrowhead filled with power, that when fired begin releasing large quantities of thick dark smoke. Can either be used for an escape, or to non-lethally take down a target
Tear Gas Arrow: Similar to the smoke arrows, except instead of smoke, these release tear gas, and as such, are more useful for crowd control than taking down an individual target.
Flare Arrows: Arrows that contain a tripwire, like in stun mines, that gets tripped when the arrow impacts against something. This trips the wire and, as the magnesium reacts, creates a bright flare capable of temporary blinding if stared at too closely, and definite disorientation.
Blunt Arrows: Quite simply arrows that end with a rounded point as opposed to a sharp one. Useful for non-lethal takedowns and breaking bones.
Noise Arrows: Arrows that release a loud screeching noise, like a car alarm but louder and more shrill, when they impact. While these can be used to debilitate an enemy up close, or one with enhanced senses, they tend to be mainly used for distraction.
Cable Arrows: Arrows that release a length of cable attached to the bow behind them after they are fired. Unlike her father’s version, which he could use as a zipline, the arrowheads in hers contain a powerful motor that can pull her along in a somewhat uncontrolled version of swinging. And they can be used for ziplining.
Powers:
None
Skills:
Marksmanship: Pretty standard for a daughter of Hawkeye, she is an excellent marksman. She has perfect eyesight, a steady hand, and that instinct of knowing just when to shoot. She excels with bows and guns, and some have said she’s the only person who might have been able to rival her father.
Hand-to-hand Combat: One of the things her father trained her for was fighting up-close. After all, not all enemies were going to be content with getting shot from long range. She can handle herself in a fight, being competent in several forms of martial arts, essentially having second-hand training from Captain America, who trained her father.
Versatility: Hawkeye was famed for being able to turn anything into a weapon under the right circumstances, and it was something he passed onto her. While she’s not got his skill at it, for example she probably couldn’t take somebody down using a plate, her reflexes and hand-eye coordination mean she can beat someone pretty effectively with most things that might be laying around.
Improvisation: Aileen isn’t used to bothering with things like plans, and tends to make things up on the go. The closest she’ll come to a plan is deciding which member of a group to deal with first, or which entrance to use to enter a building. While this can sometimes get her into trouble, it has taught her to adapt, and she can respond to a change in circumstances very well.
Climbing: A skill she taught herself to use in conjunction with her cable arrows, Aileen is a rather skilled climber. She can get up trees easily, scale short buildings without too much difficulty, and when pushed, climb cliffs or taller buildings, although she’d rather have safety equipment when trying that.
Knowledge of Animals: Aileen has always been fascinated with animals, and she always planned to be a zoologist when she grew up. As a result, she knows a lot about animals, both domestic and wild, and can usually identify them and, if lucky, know something about their behaviour.
Negotiation: While perhaps more accurately described as “the gift of the gab”, Aileen is good at talking her way out of trouble. Whether it’s through bargaining, lying, flirting or arguing, she can often get people to see her point of view or help her.
Multilinguality: Despite her first language being English, she is fluent in Italian, and can speak passable Spanish, French and German, although she normally needs people to speak slowly for her in those languages, and tends to do horrific things to sentence structure. She picked up Italian from her father, and then taught herself the others.
Physical Fitness: Despite being only a human, she’s close to the peak of her physical potential, being strong and fast, having superb reflexes and having high endurance.
Weaknesses: (3 minimum
1.) Only Human: Despite her skills and physical potential, Aileen is only a human. She doesn’t possess any powers, and has all the same weaknesses as humans.
2.) Can’t Drive: A constant source of shame for Aileen is the fact that she could never learn how to drive. As a result, it’s a skill she lacks, and it severely limits her mobility. She needs to rely on either allies or public transport to get around. Or just run.
3.) Berserk Button: Bringing up Hawkeye’s death is a sure way to get Aileen into a rage. It’s something that can usually make her lose control a bit, and she can get very violent. It doesn’t matter if it’s a friend or an enemy who brings it up, she will normally give them one warning to stop talking about it, and then hit them if they continue. Due to this, she’s never talked about her feelings about his death, and so has never fully and healthily grieved for him.
4.) A “Saving People” Thing: Another side effect of never getting over her father’s death is her inability to let people she cares about die. She can’t be ruthless when it comes to people she cares about, and she can’t prioritise things over them. She will willingly give up and give into demands if someone uses a friend against her, or drop everything to save them.
5.) Low Pain Threshold: Aileen has a pretty poor tolerance for pain considering the career she’s in. It’s still pretty high by normal standards, and she can get knocked around plenty and still get back up, but she’s probably easier to disable via pain than most other superheroes.
6.) Am I Annoying You?: She’s not the best at picking up on people’s emotions, and as such Aileen can find it very hard to tell when she’s annoying somebody, and as such when to draw the line when it comes to teasing and flirting. As a result, she either tends to accidentally piss people off, or check often to make sure she’s not getting on their nerves, even when they’re completely comfortable around each other.

Personality:
Caring: Aileen prides herself on being a caring person. She tends to love her friends beyond reason and go out of her way to help them. It’s not just her friends, however. She tries to look out for just about anyone, and can usually stop, if nothing else, to listen to a troubled stranger, if she can pick up on the fact that they are unhappy, and ideally take them for a drink.
Impetuous: It probably goes with the not having a plan, improvisation thing, but Aileen will sometimes rush into situations without thinking them through. Sometimes this can be helpful, as it means she doesn’t have time to doubt herself, but it can also land her in hot water, and has several times.
Stubborn: When Aileen sets her mind on something, she doesn’t like to be questioned, and will stick to her point. She doesn’t like to change her mind or admit she was wrong about something, so it’s quite difficult for her to do. She can and will get into an argument about nearly anything if questioned, but will try to keep it good-natured where possible.
Confident: She tries not to be cocky, but Aileen tends to keep in mind what she’s got and take pride in it. She does doubt herself quite often, but she’ll try and convince herself that she’s being ridiculous. She can come across as conceited sometimes, but takes pains to avoid this.
Flirty: If it vaguely resembles a human being, there’s a high chance Aileen will flirt with it. It doesn’t matter if she’s attracted to them or not, it’s just something she enjoys to do and treats as part of regular social interaction. She also hopes that other people enjoy her flirting, and makes sure to stop if she’s asked to.
Forgiving: Aileen generally prefers not to bear grudges when she can avoid it. She’ll generally accept apologies before they’re fully out of the other person’s mouth, and will forgive most things if they’re apologised for. She just considers it not worth staying angry at someone in most cases, although of course there are exceptions.
Apologetic: By the same token, Aileen is also quick to apologise. As soon as her anger fades, she’ll normally try to apologise as soon as she can, because she also doesn’t like people being angry at her or bearing grudges. But again, there are exceptions, and some things she won’t apologise for.
Loyal: Aileen also prides herself on loyalty. She keeps secrets and takes her friends’ side in things most of the time, even if she doesn’t completely agree with her friend. She’s not infallible, however, and she could definitely be persuaded to spill secrets, for example, but it’s something she tries not to do.
History:
Aileen was born when Clint Barton, tired of the heartbreak that came from falling in love with people involved in his superhero life, such as Mockingbird or Jessica Drew or Sheila Danning, instead decided to try a relationship with somebody who had nothing to do with that life. He met a woman called Erin Blackwood. Despite a bumpy initial relationship, the two settled down together, and had Aileen.
Erin, however, faced complications in childbirth. She refused to terminate, however, and so died as Aileen was born. Hawkeye, in his grief, threw himself into his superhero work and left Aileen with a string of nannies. Aileen grew up knowing these nannies far better than either of her parents, being lucky if she saw Clint for a few days every month. As she grew up, however, she took an interest in her father’s superheroics, just in an attempt to feel some closeness towards him.
Past the age of five, her father finally stopped throwing himself into his work quite as much, and by the time she was seven he had recovered something of his life. However, he found by this point that he had almost no connection with his daughter. They loved each other, but they weren’t especially close. Then, he found her one night in the basement trying to practice with one of his bows, and failing to even lift it to the proper height. For the first time, the two of them shared a proper laugh.
Despite this, however, he refused to train her. He’d been inspired into the life, and in the end, it hadn’t helped him. He’d been hunted, heartbroken, nearly died repeatedly and had a broken relationship with his daughter. He didn’t want that happening to her. So she asked again and again and he refused. Both of them were pretty stubborn about the issue.
Clint had a change of mind when he came home one day to find Aileen in the basement, bleeding from having accidentally stabbed herself with an arrow while trying, again, to practice. The wound was mainly a scratch, nothing serious, but still, it made Clint realise that Aileen was going to keep trying, and that if he didn’t help her, she might get hurt again, and seriously. So, he came up with some rules. She was to tell him if it got too much, they were going to take it slow, and it was not going to interfere with her schooling or her spending time with friends. When she agreed to that, they began.
First off, he had a bow custom made to fit her. Then, with her still only eight, he began to train her in archery. At first, that was as far as they went, but then after another year, when she was starting to get good with a bow, she asked her dad to teach her how to fight properly. He was extremely wary of this at first, and instead signed her up for karate lessons while giving her general fitness training. When Aileen showed an aptitude for that, however, he agreed to teach her how to fight, but added another rule: she was not to show this to any of her friends, or the lessons would stop immediately.
Of course, they didn’t spar against each other. There was no way Clint would be able to hit his girl, not in a million years. So instead he just taught her the techniques, and she practiced them on dummies and the like. And over the course of this process, the two grew much closer. They could laugh, they could talk, they could spend time together. They had a connection. And true to her word, Aileen kept doing passably at school, and she maintained her friendships. By the age of fourteen, she could shoot with an accuracy near that of Clint, and could confidently handle herself up close, although she’d only been tested under controlled conditions.
The training continued for another year or so, but Aileen was getting less into it. She was getting more of social life, had her first boyfriend, and was taking more of an active interest in her studies, pursuing zoology. Clint was saddened by this, but he could also see the good in it. He’d been doing less and less of his duties to spend time with his daughter, so he could now get back into his superheroics properly. Aileen started to see less and less of him, but this time she didn’t mind. She knew that they’d be just as close when he got back.
However, when she was sixteen, Aileen saw her father killed. She saw live footage on the news of him battling William Stryker’s Purifiers, protecting a group of young mutants, and watched as he gunned down by them before help could arrive. She cried that whole day, and then that night, for the first time in nearly a year, she took up her bow and spent the whole night shooting arrows in the basement, remembering when her and Clint had done the same.
She took a couple of weeks and tried to grieve, but then she forced herself to get on with her life. She lived with a nanny again who had been given custody in Clint’s will, but other than that, she tried to move on with her life, and get back to normal. She never gave herself a proper chance to mourn for her father and grieve properly, however. For the next two years, she tried not to about Hawkeye, about shooting, martial arts, everything. She kept up her fitness, but that was because she couldn’t shake the habit. She moved away from New York during that time, and so wasn’t caught up in The Battle.
However, two years after her father’s death, as she was preparing to leave for college, she witnessed three thugs rob a store. Without thinking, she just decided to do what her father would have done, and grabbed a bow, before chasing after them. She was able to trap them in an alleyway, and took one down with a blunt arrow before the other two closed the distance. She held her own against them, and took one down, but then the other stabbed her in the stomach. Getting his friends together and running, they ran off, leaving her to bleed out. She was only saved by a passer-by, who, having seen her run after them, came to check on her, and then quickly called an ambulance.
She missed the start of college while she was in hospital, and when she got out, decided not to go. Instead, she decided that she was going to carry on doing what her father had. She instead took his old costume, and sent it off to be remade for her, using the same maker her father had when he was starting out. She then started to train again, taking up archery and martial arts, and redoubling her fitness. At the same time, she started to become more involved in the world. She spoke out against the oppression of mutants, at the acceptance of supervillains, about anything she could. And when her costume, remade, came, she started crimefighting in earnest, using her father’s old codename, Hawkeye.
She started out small-time with her crimefighting, moving back to New York, where things were more common, but not doing anything on the scale her father would have done. However, that changed after her first encounter with Ginnie Stark. Aileen had been chasing after a fleeing bank robber and, not in her distinctive costume for once, she’d felt something slam into her from behind, throwing her skidding across the ground. Standing up rather shakily, she turned and saw the Iron Maiden standing there, her palm out from shooting Aileen. Aileen knew she couldn’t win the fight, so she surrendered. Iron Maiden put her in handcuffs and left her on the side of the road, and then went after the robbers. Then, she had all three of them arrested. Aileen was pardoned, however, as law enforcement knew her as a hero now, and to make up for it, Ginnie picked her up and took her on a “not a date” to make up for it.
This marked a change. After their “not a date”, Ginnie and Aileen became friends and allies, fighting crime together and hanging out whenever they both had free time, training together and just generally spending time with each other. Aileen got more involved in superheroics the closer she grew with Ginnie, even getting close enough with the girl to know her actual address. Then one day, after they’d been friends for ffour years, and were both twenty-three, Ginnie told her she was invited to join the Avengers. Aileen, for her part, was shocked, not expecting anything like that. But she accepted and joined the team as Hawkeye. She spent the next three years doing a mixture of solo crimefighting, with Ginnie, and with the Avengers, although she still felt slightly like an outsider to the team.

Sample RP:
Aileen tapped away at her computer, not doing much, just talking to some friends, sharing details about their colleges, that sort of stuff. Her friend was getting the dorm furthest away from campus, apparently. She didn't really care which campus she was in, she was just psyched to be going. She was finally going to be studying zoology. Doing something with her life beyond high school. As she typed another message, she knew she should stop being lazy and go on a run or something. Something easy, just a mile or two. Just so she could tell herself she'd done her exercise for the day and then continue to be lazy. She got another message, however, and snorted to herself as she read it, and began a reply.
She'd only managed a few words, however, when she heard what sounded like a gunshot. She ran to her window, and saw three men in masks walking into a store, holding guns. She quickly grabbed her phone, but her finger hovered above the nine. Did she just want to call the police? Would her father have done that? Aileen regretted thinking of her father instantly, but it was true, he wouldn't have just called the police. So, rather than thinking, she just acted. She knew where the bow was, and she knew where there was a sheath of arrows. She sprinted down the stairs and into the basement to grab them, and then slipped into a pair of boots. That was almost three minutes she'd wasted. They could have taken everything and shot the shopkeeper by now. Aileen stepped out the door and ran towards the grocery store, bow in her hands and arrows slung over her back. As she neared the store, however, the three thugs ran out, firing into the air again, and started running away.
"Hey, you!" Aileen yelled as she ran after then. They turned, and just ran faster.
Aileen paused in her running, and, pulling an arrow from the quiver, quickly notched it and fired. It was on course, but fell short, and she cussed. The bow was too small for her now, and she was out of practice. So she ran after them again, closing the distance. They clearly didn't have as much practice as she did. Seeing that she was nearing, the thugs ran sideways into an alley, and Aileen smirked. The alley was a dead end, but apparently they didn't know that. As she rounded the corner, she was already pulling a blunt arrow out of the quiver. She saw that the thugs had realised their mistake, and were already starting towards one. Without pausing, she loosed off the blunt arrow at the closest one, hitting him a beauty in the ribs, and probably cracking at least one. He went down and didn't go up. The other two took their chance while she was getting another arrow, and rushed her. Their mistake. She turned her bow to smack into the fists of the first one, and he howled as his knuckles struck the metal. She then dropped it and hit the other one right in the gut, before stepping back and taking up a stance. They were annoyed now. This time they both came at once, and she was forced to dodge one strike and block another, before kicking out, aiming for the groin of the second one. He stepped back before she could connect, so she pivoted and slammed her shin into the meat of the thigh of the other one. He howled, and threw a clumsy punch, which she easily caught. She would have hit him and decked him there, but the second one came at her with another punch and she had to spin away. She slammed the heel of her hand into the wrist of the second one, and then slammed her foot into the chest of the first one.
As the first man fell back, she turned to face the second one again, only to feel something cold and sharp stab into her stomach. Her knees folded as her brain tried to process what was happening beyond her stomach lining being breached. She looked down and saw the handle of the knife sticking from her stomach. The last thug standing quickly pulled his friends to their feet and grabbed a duffel bag before starting to run away again. She could finally hear sirens as her blood started to drain away from her
