Edward looked a little bit worse for wear as he walked to the building he knew May's apartment was in. True, most of the cuts had healed, but his shirt was still soaked with blood, and no small amount had dripped down to his jeans as well. He hadn't gone out into New York City expecting a fight, but when he'd seen a guy trying to steal some woman's bag, he'd stepped in. It would have been perfectly straightforward and quick had the thief not pulled a knife on him. He'd still won the fight easily, but he'd been slashed a couple of times, and it was because of this his clothes were wrecked. He just needed somewhere to get a shower and wash his shirt, and then he could go back to Jean Grey Academy without having to explain why he was coming back soaked in blood two months in a row. From what he'd gathered last time, he wasn't supposed to do that. He'd just say the slashes in the fabric were fashionable.
He knew the building May lived in from seeing her enter it several times when he'd been trying to convince one of the local shopkeepers to sell him some cigarettes. He'd been very quick to change what he was doing when he'd seen May, but she'd never investigated. Sure, she'd probably be annoyed that he'd gotten into a fight and gone to her apartment, but he was pretty sure she'd help him out. She was his...relative, after all, and technically his guardian. So he entered the building, trying to look as unsuspicious as he could with a shirt soaked in blood. Thankfully, he didn't run into anyone as he walked through. He was now relying on just his nose, trying to pick out May's scent. It was difficult, but he followed it, having to move pretty slowly and stopping and starting now and again. Finally, he smelt it come to a stop outside an apartment door. Thankfully May had been there pretty recently, or he'd never have been able to find it. "May?" He called, knocking on the door. When there was no response, he knocked again and placed an ear to the door. He could hear something like running water. So she was taking a shower. Well, she'd probably be even angrier at him for barging in, but it beat the alternative. He was tempted to return the favour and break her door down, but that wouldn't help him in the long shot. Instead he thought back. May's scent had been all over the place, around the building, and she didn't seem too much like the sort to wander through corridors if she could help it. Maybe there was another way in.
Deciding he might as well follow that idea rather than wait for her to get out of the shower, Edward started retracing his steps. He was quicker out of the block of flats this time, and then sniffed again. It was much harder to find May's scent, and he was half going off of faith as he started in the direction of what he hoped was her scent. He followed it, incredibly slowly, until he came to an alley. Was this possibly it? He went down the alley cautiously, until he came to an open window. He sniffed, and yep, it was definitely her flat. Well, no time like the present to trespass on your relative's property. He swung in through the window, not making the most graceful entrance, but he kept his feet. "Hey," He called in the direction of the bathroom, pretty sure May's supernatural senses would let her hear him over the water, "It's uh me, Edward. I got into a fight, I need to use the shower when you're done." He was pretty sure that was everything she needed to know. He'd probably get a bollocking when she got out the shower, and then, if he was lucky, be able to wash himself and the shirt before being dragged back to school.

It had been a long day and Lydia had gotten carried away with her art work. She was covered in paint and chalk and she had stopped questioning long ago how that got in her hair and just accepted it. May had left sometime during the day, she vaguely remembered her saying good bye. She also vaguely remembered her tossing a fruit bar at her head telling her not to forget to eat something. May was good about that. She could probably hear Lydia's stomach rumbling from anywhere in the apartment on bad days.
Stepping back, Lydia looked at her painting and immediately hated it. But she had been staring at it all day and age had been nitpicking the whole time. Groaning, she put down her brush and counted to ten. She took Seb's advice and let it sit, leaving it alone to come back with fresh eyes. She needed a shower. That always helped clear her head. Knowing she was alone, she stripped down on her way to the bathroom, dropping articles of clothing as she went.
The shower itself was amazing, hot and strong, not unlike a cup of good tea. She took one longer than was necessary but she loved standing under the shower head and letting it fall on her shoulders. After she got out, she felt immensely better, her limbs loose and relaxed. She felt like wandering around abs letting herself air dry, enjoying the empty apartment. She toweled off her hair as she opened the bathroom door, oblivious to her house guest.
That, of course changed when the towel came away from her head and she saw a bloody, teenaged boy standing in her apartment. She screamed. She jumped back. She threw a few photonic blasts at him and tried to make it back to her room, stumbling in fear and surprise and running into the wall, leaving a sizable dent in the hallway. "WHATEVER YOU WANT I'M SURE AS HECK AIN'T GOING TO GIVE IT TO YOU!"

Edward was getting pretty bored of standing around waiting for May to get out of the shower, and had started pacing the flat. When he heard the bathroom door open, he turned, really hoping May had heard him calling and had thought to get dressed, or at the very least put on a towel. He didn't think they were that close yet.
But when he turned, instead of May standing in the doorway, he saw a dripping and very naked teenage girl. He froze for a second, an then let out a faint cry of surprise as he turned, his face blushing scarlet, just as he heard her scream. "I didn't see-" He began, as he felt something blast into his back, several times, lifting him off the ground and slamming him into the radiator. He groaned as he slammed into the metal head-first, but quickly climbed to his feet. He heard the girl running back, and kept his back firmly turned. So from what he could gather, he'd just met May's roommate. "I'm uh, I'm really sorry!" He called, trying to keep calm, despite a variety of feelings right now, primarily embarrassment, "I didn't see anything!" Which was a lie. He'd seen...well, everything, but none of it on purpose, and he doubted that was going to help the situation. He winced slightly as she yelled, but it was a reasonable assumption of hers, to be fair. "I don't want anything!" He insisted quickly, and then tried to think about how to explain the situation as best as he could.
"I'm family of May's..." He tried, "I uh, didn't realise she shared the place." Which wasn't the best explanation he could have given, but he was just basically saying words by this point. "Can you put on some clothes or something so I can...explain?" He didn't especially want to have this whole conversation yelling over his shoulder, but he didn't think he could manage it unless she had a towel at the very least. His face had stayed suitably red this entire time.

Could she put some clothes on? Was he serious?! No, she'd just waltz back out there starkers and they'd have a laugh. Of course she wild put some clothes on. And seeing as the bedroom floor was her closet, that wasn't that hard to do. Quickly, Lydia grabbed a pair of cut offs and a tank top and threw them on. He was May's cousin? She hadn't said anything about a cousin, though to be fair, they didn't go into extensive family trees. That got dangerous after a certain point. However she had mentioned a...uncle? That was younger? They did wilderness survival training. Could be that guy...still. Why the hell would he just barge in?!
"You know, just cause you're family doesn't mean you come in unannounced. I knock on my brother's door, not go in through whatever window he's got open for the heck of it." She came out of her room, finger combing her hair as she walked. She got a better look at him this time. He was kinda cute. But still. Covered in blood was a problem.
"Now, care to explain why you look like you need to lay real low and wait for the cops to pass by? What happened and do I need a med kit?" Lydia crossed her arms and looked at him, disapproving.

Edward waited until he heard the door open again to turn around, assuming it was safe to look. Now that May's roommate actually had clothes on, and he could take a proper look, he had to admit she wasn't bad looking at all. She looked about his own age, but he'd never been too great at guessing. As he thought this, he became aware again of what a state he was in. Bloodstained shirt and jeans was never what you wanted to wear when you met someone new. Still, that was the reason he was here. "I wasn't really planning on coming round," Edward commented, only slightly sardonically. He assumed that from his appearance, she could guess that he had a pretty good reason for dropping by. Unless she thought he normally went around in clothes still wet from his blood. "I knocked on the door, but you were..." He pointed towards the bathroom and trailed off, deciding it probably wasn't the best idea to bring it up.
He raised his eyebrows slightly as she looked at him disapprovingly. Did May make a habit of hanging around people who looked like they were judging him? Still, he hoped she couldn't fault his reason for such a state. "I don't really need to lay low..." He said, although he didn't sound too sure, "I was just looking for a shower and somewhere to wash my shirt before I got back to school." He paused again, and reconsidered slightly. "Maybe I wouldn't mind waiting for the fuss to die down a little." He hoped he didn't need to explain much more. "I figured I could put up with the trousers." Even when he'd thought it was May living here alone, he hadn't planned on taking his jeans off, no matter how bloody they were.
When she asked what happened, he thought about the best way to explain it. "Saw a mugging," He commented, "I got involved. The crook realised he wasn't going to win and pulled a knife on me." He then gestured to the slashes in his shirt, where the blood was darkest. "He got me a couple of times." He then thought about her next question. The bleeding had stopped, he was pretty sure of that, but he wasn't sure if the slashes had completely closed up or not. By now they had, hopefully, but he couldn't be too sure under the blood. They had been bad. But he shook his head at the question. "It looks a lot worse than it is," He said, "I...heal quickly."

Lydia looked him over again, less critical this time, more trying to figure out his size. A shower would do good and he couldn't really walk around in public covered in blood, even if it was his own. She unfolded her arms and held out her hand.
"Helen. But I hate that name so you can call me Lydia. You can use the shower, just toss your clothes out, I'll get them washed. And hold on just one sec..." she ran back to her room and rummaged about. She knew she had a black pair of sweats she'd stolen from her brother. They'd probably fit him for the time being. With a small ah ha, she pulled them out of a drawer and went back to the common area.
"You know, when someone pulls a knife on you, you're supposed to avoid getting stabbed, right?" She grinned at Edward, tossing him the sweats. "Towels are above the toilet in the cabinet and the hot water handle needs a little jiggling, but you should be good other wise. Just so long as you don't mind girl shampoo."

He was aware of her looking him over, but he couldn't really return the favour without remembering...things that had happened a few minutes ago and what things looked like then. So he decided her face was definitely a good place to keep his eyes. He was pretty sure she was focussing on the blood soaking his shirt, which made him want to change it even more. As if it wasn't disgusting and stank, it made for a bad first impression. He took her hand and shook it, aware that this was possibly the weirdest meeting he'd met. And he'd met somebody by falling out of a window. "I'm Edward," He replied, nodding at her name. He wasn't a stranger to nicknames, and Lydia was one of the far more normal one he'd come across.
He was slightly surprised by the generosity of the offer, considering a few minutes ago she'd been throwing him across the room...somehow. "I was just gonna wash them in the sink or something, but uh, if you're sure, thanks." Sure, it was a little weird, stripping and showering in a total stranger's apartment, but considering what had happened, it probably wasn't as weird as it could be. Chances are the fact that he was related to May was influencing her decision. He took the black clothes, really hoping they didn't belong to a boyfriend of May's or something. "Thanks," He said as he took the clothes, and smirked slightly at her remark. He could see why someone as highly-strung as May was able to live with her. "Yeah, I think May mentioned something about not getting stabbed. And he only got me a couple of times."
"Heaven forbid my hair smell nice," He said sarcastically, and smiled as he opened the bathroom door, and stepped through. Feeling kind of self-conscious, he pulled off his slightly ruined shirt and his bloodstained jeans, and passed them through the door, only opening it a crack. Ironic, really. But he figured the boxers could definitely do without a wash. "You sure you don't mind?" He asked as he wiggled with the shower, trying to get the hot water on

"Oh, only a couple of times, huh? That doesn't sound nearly so bad." She snarked back. Taking the blood-stained clothes through the crack in the door, Lydia cracked a smile and shook her head. He'd seen her completely in her birthday suit and here he was shy as all get out, passing his clothes through the door. If he was related to May, it sure didn't show in his personality. That girl barely liked to wear underwear let alone clothes. But she just shrugged it off and walked away.
"Yeah, it's fine. It's what you came here for anyway. And I don't want to have to tell May that I let you walk wherever you were going still looking like that. I'm sure there are weirder things walking around New York, but it would still get too much attention." Luckily they had an in unit washer dryer, and for that, Lydia was eternally grateful. She could fly, and lift a train over her head, but there was just something about lugging laundry up flights of stairs that was just a pain in the ass no matter how strong you were. She tossed his clothes and set the machine to start before heading into the kitchen. She pulled a few things out of the fridge and then grabbed some bread and started making sandwiches. Being friends with teenage boys, especially speedsters, had taught her, they were almost always hungry. So she wasn't even going to ask if he wanted something to eat. And she was hungry anyway too, so she just decided to make him a turkey sandwich, toss some chips on a plate and set it on the table while she waited for him to finish his shower.

Edward smirked slightly as he heard her sarcasm. It said a lot about him that getting slashed a couple of times with a knife wasn't much of a big deal. Not just about his powers, but about how many times he'd had knives pulled on him. Probably too many, considering his age. Even most people with healing factors would probably freak out about getting slashed, probably. He finally figured out how to get the hot water on, and stripped to his birthday suit and stood under the warm spray.
The funny thing about blood was that it got everywhere. Edward had initially planned to just take a quick shower, hop in, scrub, and hop out again. But he took one look at the bloodstains on his chest, legs, and he could feel some on his face and neck, and he realised that wasn't going to happen. It took some determined scrubbing, and he found that the blood had even gotten into his hair, but finally he was clean. Well, mostly. He stayed under the hot water another couple of minutes, despite the cheek of it, and then stepped out. It still felt weird using someone else's bathroom, but he pulled a towel out from the cabinet and started to towel off with it. He definitely wasn't about to repeat what Lydia had done. As he towelled, he sniffed suspiciously at his hair. He really did smell like a girl. Hopefully May wouldn't notice. But then he sniffed again and smelt something else, and his stomach rumbled. He wrapped the towel very carefully around his waist and then poked his head out of the bathroom door, trying to mainly show his head, but probably parts of his shoulders and chest were visible.
"Can I smell turkey?" He asked, sniffing again. True, it wasn't the most polite way to ask for food, but then again it was turkey. He popped back into the bathroom and quickly pulled on the clothes, and then walked out again, still reasonably damp, and his curls were flattened against his head. He followed the smell to the kitchen, and saw a turkey sandwich on a plate with some crisps. "Look better?" He asked, gesturing to himself as he moved his wet hair away from his eyes. He was slowly gravitating towards the sandwich as his stomach growled.

"Yeah, it's a turkey sandwich." Lydia called out as she made a sandwich for herself and then grabbed down a couple of glasses for juice. She poured them both some and then heard the washer chime. Wiping her hands on her pants, she went over to switch the clothes to the dryer. Shouldn't take too much longer now, she thought. Though, after their initial awkward introduction, Lydia was looking forward to getting to know May's cousin. She liked making friends.
She turned around when he asked if he looked better and her mouth went dry. And she stammered. He looked...better. Definitely better. Oh jeeze...Lydia could feel her cheeks getting hot and she looked away. He wasn't wearing a shirt and she couldn't decide if he needed to put one on or not. She quickly sat down at the table and looked intently at her sandwich, nodding in answer to his question.
"Um...yes...much...Uh...your clothes should be dry in a minute...or several. I just set the darn thing...It'll beep when it's done."

Edward was halfway to the sandwich and the glass of juice, his stomach urging him forwards, when he heard Lydia speaking. Well, speaking was a generous way to describe it. He turned, frowning, and then realised what might be a reason. "Oh, sorry," He said quickly as he blushed and pulled the shirt that was balled in his hand up to cover himself slightly. He wasn't the most conscientious houseguest. That was one way of putting it. "I know it's cheeky to ask, but do you have a smaller shirt? This one's...a bit big on me." Whoever owned the shirt, presumably a boyfriend of either May or Lydia, was taller than him, and apparently better built. The shirt was long and baggy when he held it up to his chest. Him and Lydia weren't doing too well at this whole "first impressions" thing.
"No hurry," Edward said quickly and pulled the shirt on before his cheeks got pinker. He really had to get this whole "being a guest" thing down, "Cheers for uh, washing my clothes, by the way." Lydia definitely handled things better than most people who had somebody show up dripping blood. Well, she had powers, so there was something there. "Can I ask if you're a superhero?" He asked, "Or just somebody who can do stuff?" He didn't know what May had planned for him, but he didn't count himself as much of a hero. Sure, he got involved when he saw stuff, and he didn't like serious criminals, as hypocritical as that was, but he didn't go out of his way to help.
He sat down at the other side of the table, keenly aware that Lydia had kept her eyes resolutely away from him for a few minutes now. "It's safe to look," He said, only half-jokingly, "I've got something on." And with that he downed his glass of juice in one go and started to eat his sandwich, groaning once in satisfaction. Turkey sandwiches were good food to have after being knifed.

"Um...Um...yeah hang on." Lydia scurried back to her room, trying to think if she had a smaller shirt. She could see it might be a bit big on him. It was practically a dress on her. Though James was a rather big guy, being Captain America and all. Large shoulders seemed to come with the costume. She dug around in her dresser, trying to think of a bigger shirt she had somewhere. Ah. the Ferris Air shirt she'd stolen from Marty she couldn't even remember how long ago. It was one of her work shirts and had always been a bit over-sized, but she liked the extra room. "Yeah. Sorry, my brother's kind of large. I like to steal his stuff cause it's cozy." She handed him the smaller shirt. "This should fit you better." When Edward asked if she was a superhero, she panicked, just a bit. What had May been saying? How'd he figure it out? Could he keep a secret?! But of course she almost didn't catch the second part. She had blasted him into the radiator on reflex, so he knew she had powers. He might be able to smell them like May. She had said she smelled like energy, whatever that smelled like. She wondered for a moment what to tell him, and she knew she was a terrible liar. She could say yes, just be very vague about it. God, she was horrible at this whole secret identity thing. "Um...yeah...I am. Kinda runs in my family." She finally looked over after getting the all clear. Yeah, the Ferris Air shirt worked much better. "I mean, if I didn't have these powers, I'd probably just go be a pilot, but I do, so I feel like I should do more with them. Like helping people."

Edward was cursing himself internally as she ran into her room. He should have just put the shirt on, accepted it was a bit big, and worn it without complaint. And he definitely should have at least made sure he was wearing something on his upper half when he'd walked out. But no, he just had to go and make it awkward. Which it really didn't need help with, considering the...circumstances she'd been in when he'd first seen her. And he wasn't even going to think about how that maybe made them even. Him and Lydia were really failing at this "meeting each other" thing. He was really hoping May never found about this. For a start, she'd never stop bringing it up, and secondly, she'd probably beat the shit out of him.
"You're telling me," Edward commented as she said her brother was large. He was hardly a small guy, but the shirt had been loose and long. He took the smaller shirt, and briefly contemplated asking her to turn away, but that would be rather redundant by this point, so he pulled the big shirt off and quickly pulled the other one on. It was a much snugger fit, definitely clinging to him and accentuating things somewhat, and definitely not his style, but he wasn't going to complain. It wasn't bloodstained and didn't come down to his thighs, and that was what was important.
He sat back down again and took another bite out of the sandwich, and then another, and then it was gone. Well, that was disappointing, but it'd done its job. His stomach wasn't growling at him any longer. He was aware of her looking a lot more panicked, and frowned. Oh, right. He guessed you weren't really supposed to ask people if they were superheroes. Secret identities and all that. Nobody really bothered with that stuff at Jean Grey. He was about to tell her she didn't need to answer, although her panicking, however slight, told him all he needed to know, when she spoke. "Same here, about the family thing," He commented, "But you've met May, so I'm guessing you know that already." As he said that, he really hoped that Lydia knew that May had powers, or he was so gonna get the crap kicked out of him. "And a pilot? That's unusual. If I didn't have...stuff, I wouldn't be in the US anyway." And it definitely hadn't been helping people that had landed him here.

Edward in Marty's shirt was indeed an interesting sight and Lydia had to stifle a giggle at how snug it fit him. Marty wasn't exactly rail thin, but he apparently wasn't as "well built" as Edward. She turned away, trying and failing to fight back a smile. Luckily, she was saved by the dryer announcing it was done. She scurried over to it, pulling things out, and seeing how they faired. She held up the shirt, noticing it was free from bloodstains, but not from holes. She frowned. She could fix it for him, no problem at all.
"Oh, May is a good roommate for me, and I for her. I'm...pretty hard to hurt." She said, standing up and throwing his shirt on over her own. It would only take a few moments to fix the damage and he'd have a nice clean shirt. "As for the pilot thing, yeah. My mom was a pilot, taught me how to fly. With and without a plane." She grabbed the hem of the shirt and looked down at the holes, watching as they started to fix themselves. The smaller holes were easy and quick, almost instantaneously gone, the slash was taking a few seconds. And that's when the windows rattled violently. Lydia stopped what she was doing and ran to the only window that faced the street; the one in her make shift studio. She threw the window open and leaned out to look at what had happened, spotting a plume of black smoke a block or two over. Something had exploded and she couldn't hear the sirens coming yet. She was closer. She almost took off out the window but ducked back in, suddenly remembering Edward.
"Hey, you know how heroing runs in our families?" she snapped her fingers and was instantly in her costume. "Time for some thrilling heroics. Care to join me?"

Well, a giggle wasn't normally the reaction he was looking for when he put on a tight-fitting shirt, but under the circumstances it was probably better that her blushing and looking away. Better she was giggling than finding it awkward all over again. He heard his dryer beep, and poked his head around to see her pull his shirt from the dryer. Whatever washing machine she had was bloody magic, as there wasn't a trace of blood left on his shirt. The slashes and holes were still an issue. "What are you doing?" He asked as she put his shirt on, but if he was honest, it wasn't a bad look on her. But then she began to touch it and whatever she was doing, it was making the holes not an issue anymore.
"I thought I was hard to hurt, but then I met her," And since then, he'd ended up with a lot more stab wounds, bruises, lacerations, and the like. So apparently one of her powers was super tailoring, that probably had so many uses. Well, he had claws and a good nose, he couldn't exactly be snarky. He was about to ask for his shirt back, as good as it looked on her, when suddenly the place shook. He kept his feet easily, but it was still hardly a good thing to happen. He strode to the window as well, using his height to look over her. He could see the column of smoke pretty well as well.
Then, Lydia snapped her fingers and was suddenly in a costume that he assumed she did her superheroics in. Was she Captain Marvel? He frowned, but there were more pressing matters. "Two questions," He asked, "One, couldn't you have saved us a lot of awkwardness and done that earlier? And two, did my shirt just wink out of existence." As he'd be annoyed if it had, it was a nice shirt. But still, he was up for a bit of heroics. "I've got no plans," He told her, "I can join you." It might even be an interesting way to get to know her.
