Alex loved New York.
There was something special about sitting onto of one of the high rise towers looking down over the city that never sleeps and all it's lights. There was something special about this sight that Alex always took time to enjoy things before doing what she usually did at this time of night. With her mask lifted off her head and her hood down taking a deep breath of chilled winter air. It stung and felt good at the same time which was an odd but pleasant feeling. She stood up at the railing and looked straight down. After pulling her mask back on and her hood back up she began to fall forward, plummeting downwards towards the streets.
The chilling air rushing past her stung and make her shiver, but these feelings made her feel so alive, she couldn't help but laugh loudly and let out a giant woo. A few seconds into the fall she finally shot out a web-string which hit the side of the building and Alex swung her body to take a sharp left turn and let it go to get the furthest distance. It was both fun for Alex and good for her to be doing this as it honed her skills. You always had to be on your toes when swinging and not to lose too much concentration or you crash land. Alex did that the second time she went out to try swinging. She broke her leg and it took a week before it was fully healed. Jess still hadn't led Alex live that one down.
While swing she heard some really bad and weird noises and people yelling, let go of the web and landed gracefully on a rooftop before rushing over to where the fight was going on.
Alex was a bit... confused on what she saw. It was in a back alley court yard. On one side were three gang members one, on the floor seemingly unconscious and the other two were brandishing weapons, one with a knife and the other with a gun. On the the other side near the unconscious man was what Alex could only guess was a wanna be hero who had easy access to leather. Then again she could always have been one of the new Kingpins femme fatales as they seemed to be very loved in this city.
"Oooh You dead bitch for doing that" the man with the gun said brandishing it at the blonde woman.
Alex sighed and jumped down, webbing the gun in his hand and pulling hard. She grasped the gun and squeezed it hard, it beginning to crumble and bend in her hand.
"How about we leave the nice dominatrix alone, she seemed to just be doing her job." She said as the two men shocked to see her. The one with the knife just looked at Alex and shouted obscenities at her.
"you're dead Spider-bitch!"' The gang member said charging at her, the knife ready to either stab or slash. Alex just signed and once he got near easily somersaulted over the man and push him hard into the man which seemed to daze him but not knock him out or lose his feeling that he could win this fight.
"It's Silk. The one you're thinking of wears black, a lot heavier and more asian." Alex said as the man charged at her again.
"And I've been waiting for a good fight" she said before take the mans arm and swing him over her back down onto the ground.
"Not that you'll be giving me one though" she said with a laugh and looked at how the dominatrix was faring.

Becca may have gotten herself into a bit of a sticky situation. She might have just bitten off more than she could chew here. It probably should have been obvious that, in New York, she'd eventually run into somebody who was packing when she went around getting herself involved with criminals, but she hadn't expected it to be this soon. Up until now, the worst she'd faced was a crowbar wielded by one cocksure asshole. Now she was faced with a knife and gun - two things she was a lot less comfortable doing something about. She'd been able to drop one of the thugs before the other two had drawn, but now she wasn't in the best situation for it.
Becca wished she had a snappy response to the guy telling her that she was dead, but she wasn't May. She wasn't Kayleigh. She wasn't even Church. When people pointed guns at her, her mouth got dry. Her palms got sweaty, and god knows she couldn't wipe them on her leather outfit. Before she needed to think of either something witty to say or clever to do, however, something silvery wound itself around the guy's wrists and then, before her eyes, the gun jumped out of his hand. Her eyes darted after it, showing her a girl in a very stripper-esque outfit breaking a gun. Wait, breaking a gun? She breathed a sigh of relief. Another hero was here. Apparently a spider, although she could tell from the slim figure that it was a girl.
Deciding that she'd leave the still-armed one to the new arrival, Becca started after the one who'd previously had the gun. He didn't seem quite so tough without the steel in his hand. In fact, he was backing away very very quickly, looking to be on the verge of turning and running. Ooh she was going to enjoy this. She closed the gap in about five steps, knocking into him and slamming him against the wall. It wasn't going to take anything May had taught her to end this. She snapped a knee between the guy's legs and punched him in the nose, and he crumpled to the floor, whimpering. "Still gonna kill me, huh?" She asked, and gave him another punch to the gut. And then she paused, and turned to the girl who'd helped her. "Did you just call me a Dominatrix?"

While the leather straddled girl was busy hitting the man who used to have the gun in a way which made Alex go 'ooooh' and cringe a little at thought of the pain that that man must've been going through. At least the way she beat up the man rather clumsily was more acquitted to of someone street fighting rather than the master martial artist Alex first assumed she was. Especially that even the strongest of fighters wouldn't go for the balls. It was just common decency, really.
"Well seeing as you kneed him, and gave him a bloody nose, I think he's going to think twice before messing with you again." She said with a smirk as she dragged the groaning man on the floor next to her to the man the Dominatrix took out the first time and turned to face her as she walked over.
"I mean, the worst thing my guy will get is probably some fractured ribs and a wounded ego. Your guy will speak in a higher octane the rest of his life and a serious wounded ego. She said grabbing the collar of the man with seriously bruised balls, and what seemed to be a bloodying face and dragged him towards the others as well.
"And yeah I called you Dominatrix. I mean look at you! Leather, the first thing I saw was you lording over a guy, you have the resting face of someone who likes to inflict pain. Dominatrix." She matter of factly as she had the three men altogether and started weaving a web around them tying them up nicely.
"You have a phone to call the cops? I mean it'll stop the hassle of me having to drag them to a street light to hang from." She said with a giggle as something dirty entered her mind.
"Not that you're new to tying people up." She said looking at Becca laughing.
"I'm sorry I didn't get your name. I'm Silk, not Spider Girl. I would like to repeat that sentiment. I. Am. Not. Spider. Girl." She said lowering her hood, like that'd do anything. Her face was still fully covered and sometimes made her look creepier then before.

Becca wasn't entirely sure whether this counted as good superheroing or not, beating a guy until he'd probably struggle to have kids, but he'd been a douche. She felt like it was justified. Still, she dropped him as the other girl dragged her guy over. It'd been good for her to show up. Becca knew she couldn't use her powers anywhere other than very controlled environments unless it was an emergency, so she was reduced to hitting with a higher impact than Rocky and being able to take one hell of a beating. Which was great, but it sucked for trying to take on multiple people at once, especially when they were armed. "He deserved it," She said offhandedly, looking down at him. It'd be a bit unprofessional to spit in his face, unfortunately.
"Woah, woah, woah," Becca said as the girl went onto explain why she was a dominatrix. "This is my training gear!" Okay, actually that didn't sound innocent either. "It's sorta like a school uniform. I'm from Jean Grey." Okay she probably could have phrased that better as well. "It's padded leather, like a jacket. Not some skintight dress that makes my boobs pop." That probably could have sounded a lot worse. "Besides, the guy's a crook, what am I supposed to do?" The girl did have a point about her resting bitch face, however. "You're the one who jumped in wearing an outfit that looks painted on." She wasn't just going to take it.
Becca quickly called the cops, explaining where they were, and then turned back around as the girl introduced herself. "Well I'm, uh..." Moment of truth, "I'm Negasonic Teenage Warhead." Not quite as triumphant as she'd hope that sounded, but it worked. "Seeing as you helped me out, you can call me Becca, if you want." Making it clear that this was some superhero thing, hero to hero. She frowned as the girl put her hood down, not at all sure that was necessary, seeing as it gave her absolutely nothing. Maybe she needed to invest in a mask herself. She was Johnny Storm's daughter, it's not like her face was all that incognito. Although she was sure that if she asked May she'd get laughed at. "Not Spidergirl. Got it. Uh...I'm gonna be honest, I've not heard of Silk before."

Alex laughed slightly at the reaction the girl had to be called a dominatrix. She couldn't help but let a laugh as she called her outfit a training gear. That made it sounded a lot worse than it actually did and Alex has to catch herself before she made another comment that might anger the none Dominatrix. Though it did seem she had some fight in her at the comment about skin tight outfits. Alex just looked at the girl coldly but with a shit eating grin on her face, not that it mattered as the face mask left her face blank and emotionless.
"Is that supposed to mean something?" she said with an angry tone, but her face betrayed the fact she was about really trying to stop herself from laughing. Thank god for the mask. She already liked this girl, it also did help that she was from Jean Grey of course. Maybe she knew Ed or May.
"Ah ha! Knew you meant something with that! Plus it is the spider way to wear outfits like that. All the OG spiders, the current Spidergirl and Spiderman wear outfits like that. Plus we look good... Is that weird to say?" The outfit did leave little to the imagination but it suited her. It didn't constrict movement as something bulkier and padded, it hugged her body nicely and it was the iconic look for spiders to have. Plus with her powers added features that gave extra protection weren't necessary, she did have the ability to dodge most attacks with ease.
She waited a bit after Becca introduced herself. She felt something brew up inside of herself, it was a weird feeling but then it escaped her. It was a snort. Followed by hard laughter. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry... It's rude of me, but that is the funniest code name I've heard in a while, and I know a guy who just goes around calling himself Church." She said trying to regain composure, taking deep breaths in and out. "But yes. It's nice to meet you, Becca. That wouldn't Rebecca Storm would it?" she asked inquisitively, she seen pictures of Becca before in tabloids here and there but she looked very different in the leather garb then she did younger in her dresses.
"It's fine that you don't. Not many do. I mean your dad knew if what people tell me is true... That's weird, I just made this weird haven't I?" She said with a slightly nervous giggle.
"Now if you don't mind me asking, what's a girl like you doing in a place like this?" she asked "Rarely see any if at all Mutants from Jean Grey out here doing... well what you're doing." she said with a tutting noise. "You need to be supervised, a student like you can't be out in the world like this alone. There are bad people out here. Case and point" She said pointing to the three men tied up nicely. "And you saw how that turned out, it's usually many v one out here. Soooooooooo... How do you feel about a little team up? You and me, Silk and Storm, skintight and padded, The Brains and the boobs!" She said cheerfully.
"What'd you say?"

Becca fought back the temptation to establish that what she'd meant was that it looked like the girl had dressed herself using a spray can and some paint. If it'd been in any other situation, she wouldn't have bothered, and she would have just gone ahead and said it. But this was the first superhero she'd met that didn't go to Jean Grey, and it wouldn't help her to be as blunt as she liked to be. Some moderation was called for here.
Not that she had much of a chance to make any of her famously blunt comments. The other girl, this Silk, seemed to like talking quite a bit. Becca wasn't sure that she agreed with wearing nothing but one very thick layer for crimefighting, for safety apart from modesty, even if it was a tradition, but she wasn't about to start a fight over that either.
Still, her jaw tightened as the other girl made fun of her codename. Sure, it was a bit long-winded, as far as codenames weren't, and it wasn't quite as snappy as 'Silk', but it still had a certain punch to it, especially if you shortened it to 'Warhead'. Plus it was paying tribute to a mutant who'd died in a tragedy. It was sombre. Full of remembrance. Also, it sounded cool. "I know the guy named Church," She pointed out, "We're on the same team. We're X-Men." It was tempting to point out that she actually had a codename, not just using her surname due to laziness, but she refrained. "How do you know the Brit, anyway?" He'd been at Jean Grey longer than her, but he surely hadn't been out there socialising with other superheroes, had he?
There was something of a sceptical look on Becca's face as the girl proposed a team-up. "I like, barely know you," She pointed out, "Aren't you meant to make a team after you've saved the world together or something? Rather than just....rendered a guy infertile. Not that that's not fun." Still, she wasn't about to tell this girl to go away, or anything like that. "I gotta return a stolen purse these guys took, you wanna come with?" She picked up the purse and started to walk away with it. "Maybe after we go get coffees and look for more assholes to beat up?"

It was a good question, how Alex had met Ed, and not really one that she liked sharing with people. The way she had met Ed was through him seemingly about to attack an innocent man with his claws drawn. Of course after a small fight which ended up in Ed webbed to a wall and Alex victorious, she realised that the man she was protecting was a drug dealer and that this Church guy was just roughing him up a little before arresting him. Where Alex then wrapped up the guy for Ed to hand deliver to the police and a stern warning about the dangers of roughing someone up. The rest of the tale is insults, snide remarks, sarcasm, a slowly growing but mutual respect for one another and the affectionate nickname ‘lover boy’.
She of course was not going to tell the girl this. Needing to keep face and all and look less like a 17 year old who started heroing a few months ago, and more of a badass hero who was trained since birth.
”Oh yeah him! Long story. Involves Me, Him a guy calling himself Doctor Deadly and saving New York from a dirty bomb in the sewers of the city.” She said with a voice that came off as matter-of-factly while her expressionless mask helped cover up any sign of lying her terrible poker face could’ve revealed. She really started to like the mask and the potential it held.
Alex was confused about what Becca was saying to her. She first said that they barely met and it’d be weird to team up as you first need to save the world together. Which she then immediately followed up with a team up after coffee…
She definitely was newbie to all of this.
”So. Let me get this straight. You don’t want to team up as we’ve just met, but you’re asking out for coffee and then a team up? I mean I gotta admire your dating ethic, only after the first date we you go on team ups with people. I respect that.” She said with a laugh as she dragged the 3 wrapped up men to the main street.
”But in all seriousness, while a bit odd to gossip over coffee while this late at night, I’d love to get some. As long as you pay… and you buy me a danish… need the energy for these muscles” She said turning back to Becca and holding out her free hand and flexing it. Before shooting web at a nearby streetlight before sticking the 3 men to it letting them hang inches above the ground. ”I would pay myself, but you know. Skintight. Don’t have any pockets. I usually just go to a hot dog cart who gives me a hotdog and soda for free. I’ll pay next time, implement a skin tight pocket system or something.”
Alex then followed Becca to the victim who had her purse stolen, and let Becca do most of the talking and taking the credit as it was her who did the most work. After their engagment was over Alex was waiting patiently nearby.
”So, is the offer for coffee still on the table? I can get us to the best late night coffee place ope. They give a superhero discount” She said with a sing song tone in her voice at the last part. ”Though… the only problem is it’s in Queens… I mean I can definitely get us there, but I do have to ask.” She said as her tone got slightly darker and more serious
”Are you afraid of heights?”
