Edward was at the museum. Well, that wasn't strictly accurate. 'At' implied that he was learning, looking at the exhibits, or even inside. Actually, he was just outside, smoking a cigarette, at roughly midnight. He'd been doing a late-night training session when nicotine cravings had hit him, and so he'd ended up making a late run to a shop - or 'store', as Americans called it - to pick some up. Once there, he'd looked for the nearest sheltered spot to light up. Going all the way back to Jean Grey just to start on the pack hadn't seemed like a good idea. The nearest sheltered spot, out of the wind, had happened to be outside the door of the museum, and that's where he stood, taking in the unusually pretty night as he smoked. It was fairly chilly, and he was in a thin white shirt, but it didn't bother him too much. Before he'd found out the truth, their trainer had made him endure far worse than a couple of degrees above freezing.
Now that he was a full X-Man, Edward was pretty much free to come and go from Jean Grey as he pleased, but it still felt unusual to be out that late at night, seeing as for the past couple of years he'd had to obey the curfew or find somewhere else to sleep - or possibly endure a lecture from a teacher while rolling his eyes profusely. Nowadays, however, he could return anytime he liked, even if that involved hopping a fence to do so. Still, it felt a bit weird to be out this late, and so his plan was to smoke the cigarette and return back to school. He didn't intend to stay out long, and he absolutely didn't expect to go into the museum.
Which meant it was really a ballache when he heard a door being pushed open somewhere nearby. Of course, having much better hearing than the average person was a blessing most of the time, but right now, when he just wanted to get back? It was annoying when it meant he couldn't in good conscience ignore something. Throwing his cigarette to the ground, he sighed and started to creep around the side of the building, until he came to an ajar door. Well, that confirmed it wasn't security, at the very least. Which meant he probably had to get involved, superhero and all. He pushed his way through the door, and then spoke in a raised voice, hoping the person was nearby.
"How much of an actual prick do you have to be to rob a museum?"
