Virginia didn't always feel that she had much time to spend with her actual friends, the ones that really mattered. And part of her felt somewhat bad for that fact. So she figured, what better way to make up for it than invite who was probably her best friend over to her place for a bit of sparring and some relaxation? Maybe a sleepover even. Well, more than likely. What? She had alway found sparring with the red head fun. Even if she didn't always quite agree with how the girk spoke to her. She had spent the better half of the morning tidying up around her condo and making everything seemingly spotless. Though, let's honest, such a task probably didn't need to take all morning, not with how she was with keeping things organized. You never find anything when everything is a mess after all! It was awfully counter productive. Then, when everything was all said and done, she made a quick call to Aileen Barton, leaving a message for her on her cell. "Hello Aileen, just calling to make sure you hadn't forgotten about our, umm, girls' day in. Or whatever it was you called it. Remember, bring your equipment and an overnight bag. I hope to see you soon."After that, it was merely a matter of waiting for her friend to show up. There was no telling just when Aileen would be there, though Ginnie had remembered to send out a driver to get her. The genius didn't exactly live within the city limits and she knew how Aileen couldn't drive. Maybe she should try teaching her someday. It seemed like a necessary skill to have when living in New York. Then again, most things were within walking distance. No matter. She figured getting ready upstairs would probably be a good idea so, being heading to the training center in her condo, she put a not on the door simply telling Aileen to head up when she got there, bags and all. Ginnie would let her get settled in later, of course. But training? That was first and foremost on the list. It was fun for her and, well, she was constantly trying to get better after all. That was how her morning had been spent, though now she wasn't entirely sure how long she had been waiting. After getting on her workout clothes and pulling her hair back, she took a seat by one of the windows. The training area overlooked her backyard. A nice expanse of green grass rolled out into the waters of the atlantic. Waterfront properties always had the nicest views, especially when there was no one else around. And it was a pleasant view to have while she waited. Shouldn't be long now, right?

Aileen had been touched by Ginnie’s gesture to send a car to pick her up, although she had been surprised by the driver turning up outside her door. As she’d been expecting to skip training today and catch a cab down to somewhere near Ginnie’s condo for some sparring, she hadn’t exactly been having an active day, and so had opened the door to the driver while still in her pajamas. She’d felt bad having to make him wait while she showered, dressed, and applied just the barest minimum of makeup, but he had told her to stop after the fourth apology. She also hadn’t checked her phone all day, so as she climbed into the car, she noticed the voicemail. Bow? Check. Arrows? Check. Costume? Check. Workout clothes? She was wearing them. She also had an overnight bag, but it’d been packed somewhat light.
She was pretty excited for the girls’ night in as the car travelled towards the condo. Sure, it was mainly going to be sparring and training, but she could enjoy that, and it meant she got to spend time with the girl she considered quite possibly her best friend. She wasn’t sure what they’d do after, as she doubted it was a girly movies and popcorn type of thing. Still, they’d do something fun for sleeping round, surely. After they’d finished hitting each other, of course. She also wondered about what Ginnie had in store for her today. She normally had something else for them to do other than just sparring. And most of the time it was difficult and ended with Aileen feeling battered and bruised, but that was just part of the fun. As they neared the condo, she also pulled on a new addition to her workout outfit. A pair of MMA gloves, that apparently wrapped your hands and, among other things, reduced the risk of injuring your hands.
Aileen couldn’t help a smile spreading over her face as they neared the condo, and as the car stopped, she thanked the driver and hurried out. She saw the note on the door, stopped to read it, and smiled again. Of course Ginnie wasn’t going to be there to let her in, but that was just another thing that Aileen found funny about her. She let herself in, and then climbed up to the training area. She knocked on the door as she walked in. “Hey,” She said with a grin as she walked closer to Ginnie, holding her arms open slightly so that if Ginnie wanted a hug, she’d be up for it, but if she didn’t, Aileen could pass it off as something else. She also looked around for somewhere to put her bag, bow, and costume. “Where should I put my stuff?” She was definitely going to need to stretch before the sparring started. She’d been having a lazy day and had barely moved, so she was a little stiff. “And what are we doing today, then? What’s the plan?”

Ginnie's legs were crossed as she tapped lightly on her knee. Her eyes stared sightlessly out of the window, while in her head she was trying to figure out how she could create a new suit that could come to her if she left it at home. She was sure her father had a way but, well, she didn't want her father's help. There had to be someway she could program it to come to her. Maybe as a whole that she could just step into or maybe in parts. Each part could come to her and attach. Though that would be difficult. In doing that, it might make it easier for it to fall apart. But figuring out how to make sure it didn't was half of the fun, now wasn't it?
She heard JARVIS before she ever heard Aileen start making her way up the stairs, telling her that her guest had arrived. "Wonderful. Put the shutters down. We don't need the view distracting us from our training," she told the AI, getting up off of the chair and moving to the center of the room as Aileen opened up the door.
Ginnie offered up a soft smile. "Hello, Aileen," she said, happy to see the girl. She moved forward to give her a hug, being gentle about it. She wasn't much of a hugger, though she did like showing that she cared for the red head with hugs and occasional gifts. "You can just put your things to the side. I'll get you set up later. But for now, we spar. I thought that, perhaps, we could work on your ability to dodge projectiles by using my gauntlets. I have them ready to go, but only if you want to. Otherwise, I've been needing to work on my hand-to-hand."

Aileen could dimly hear Ginnie talking to JARVIS as she approached, and smiled slightly. Was it strange that Ginnie's other best friend was a computer program? Sure. Was it adorable and cool? Definitely. And then suddenly Ginnie was hugging her and Aileen grinned into her friend's hair as she gently squeezed her. She let go after a few seconds, and smiled at the other girl again. "Always straight into it," she commented, dumping her bags, costume and bow in the corner, and then straightening back up. She then started to stretch, and went into lunges as she approached Ginnie, holding them each for eight seconds like you were supposed to. It probably looked slightly ridiculous, but that was better than pulling a muscle during sparring.
Aileen listened to her options, but her mind was pretty made up from the start. "You in tight workout clothes and a laser gauntlet?" She asked with another grin, "I am a lucky girl." She'd never made it a huge secret that she loved Stark tech, the various suits, whether it be Iron Man, Iron Maiden, War Machine, and the technology in general. Of course, she also enjoyed flirting with her friend, and Ginnie's reaction always made it so much better. As a result, she was making sure to keep on her toes, she knew Ginnie could get....violent when flirted with. "I think I can try dodging."
It was one thing Aileen appreciated about Ginnie. The girl didn't wait around and chat, she told Aileen to throw her stuff in the corner and get on with hitting each other. It definitely made things more fun. They'd possibly have time to relax, chat, do girly things later. If Ginnie wasn't looking for then to spar all night, that was.

As Aileen had pulled away, Virginia took the moment to go and get her suit's guantlets on. She pretty much assumed the red haired archer would be just fine with the idea before she ever really said anything. "Of course we're getting straight into it. Training is a vital part of my day to day workout routine. Not to mention, wouldn't you prefer to get training done first so we can, umm, 'hang out'?" she had made air quotes around the words 'hang out' before she finished putting the gauntlets on.
Flexxing her wrists, she made sure that the guantlets were on right before watching Aileen stretch for a moment. "Good idea." She was sure that Aileem would need to do that, stretch. And while Ginnie thought she should probably do so herself, she was more sure that she was already prepared enough as it was. Besides, Ginnie had done a little stretching earlier before the girl got here. It was called spring cleaning. Try getting to all those high spots on your own without stretching a little. And before remembering that you had a suit with boots that allowed for flight. As bright as Ginnie is, even geniuses have their 'duh' moments.
As Aileen started talking again, a light blush brushed along her cheeks. She had to turn her head away for a moment just so she could hide it, her brown locks falling down around her face. One deep breathe in, hold it, then let it out in a steady stream. Good, that felt much better. "I don't quite see how that makes you a lucky girl," she started as she looked back at her friend. "After all, true luck is an impossible construct people make up in their heads. It's more so chance and probability being in your supposed favor, no luck. There's no such thing. Not really."
She made a minor adjustment to the gauntlets before offering her friend another small smile. She didn't have the power up on them too high. If anything, the blasts, especially from across the room, might just stun a little, push her back. Aimed right, it could probably get her onto the ground but they wouldn't hurt her. And that was what mattered.
Not even a second after the girl had actually agreed that she raised her left arm and fired off a low powered relpulsor blast. There was a delay there before she said, "Dodge."
((Ooc: points if you can pick out the small little reference in there))

Aileen watched with poorly hidden excitement as Ginnie pulled on her gauntlets. She didn't understand the tech, nor know much about it, nor did she care about most technology, but Ginnie's Iron Maiden technology was just cool. And of course Ginnie had just assumed Aileen would be okay with it and set up beforehand. Well, she was sure they'd have plenty of chance to hit each other later. For now, she just had to not get hit by the repulsors. "True, I'd hate to deny you the chance to complete such a vital part of your routine," Aileen said, only partly teasing as she took up a position on the mats. "And yep, better to get all the bruising out of the way now before we hang out." She smirked, but in a friendly way.
As Ginnie turned her head to one side, Aileen knew from experience that the other girl was blushing and trying to hide it, and her smile widened. It was endearing, really. She let out a light laugh as Ginnie went on her anti-luck tirade. "I love it when you talk mathematical," She said with a friendly wink, "And okay then, pretend I made a non-philosophically offensive comment about you in workout clothes and laser gauntlets." She honestly loved teasing Ginnie sometimes. She watched as Ginnie started to fiddle with the gloves, waiting for any sign of attack for her to dodge out of the way.
Barely a second after the words left her lips she saw a blast come from the glove and had barely a second to jump to one side as the shot went past her. Her heart was beating slightly faster from the surprise, but now she was crouched slightly lower in order to dodge better. "You're gonna need to try a little harder than that, Stark," She said with a grin, still prepared to dodge. She knew taunting Ginnie wasn't the best idea, especially as she had a sneaking suspicion the girl had taken her by surprise to make up for the workout clothes comment. Well, she'd made sure to check Ginnie didn't really mind before, and since then the two of them had fallen into a reasonably comfortable pattern of Aileen flirting and Ginnie doing something like shooting her with a repulsor.

"I'm happy to see you understand!" she said with a smile. Training, suit making, business, Avengers, they seemed to take up a good bit of her day to day life. They were what she focused on the most. So much so that it was a wonder that she did anything outside of them. She did, of course, but how she seemingly found the time to was quite the mystery. "I promise to try and keep the bruising to a minimal." Well, she woudld try. That's not to say she will definitely succeed but trying was the least she could do. After all, she didn't want her favorite archer too terribly damaged.
She partially wanted to ask Ai what she wanted to do when they had finished training but she figured that was a topic for, well, after training. Although it would be an excellent technique to use if she wanted to distract the girl, make sure that she can still dodge when her focus wasn't all there.
She was actually quite surprised by the dodging maneuver that her red haired friend had managed to pull. Very good. "Well, from a mathematical stand point, your so called luck really would just be about all the right numbers lining up. Know the numbers well enough, you can likely make your odds ever in your favor," she joked. She took that time to fire off another three shots, making sure that they went side by side. "Although need i remind you that they are not laser gauntlets. They are gauntlets that manipulate and channel repulsor energy. Lasers are much different." She mockingly examined where her nails would be on her other hand as she fired off one more low powered blast, making sure it was aimed lower than the previous ones had been. "Don't forget, we're just getting warmed up."

"You know me, always understanding," Aileen said with a grin as she kept her stance low, ready to dodge, "Probably why you keep me around." She was still smiling as she rocked onto the balls of her feet, better for throwing herself to one side if it came down to it. "How very considerate of you," She said with a faint laugh. Minimal bruising could mean she wouldn't actually have much bruising, or she could still end up with bruising up and down her arms, legs and chest. She wasn't entirely sure she trusted Ginnie when she said minimal bruising any more. She always had fun, and when they sparred, she gave as good as she got, but she normally ended up pretty sore. But she had fun and she got to spend time with her friend, and that was what was important.
"Then the numbers lined up in the right way to get you in tight workout clothes and a shooty gauntlet," Aileen said with a smile, having known Ginnie long enough by now to understand that she was making a joke, and trying to make one in return. However, then Ginnie fired three shots at her, and rather than dodge around, she dropped low, into a pressup position, and then back to her feet quickly. Her wrists were aching slightly after the maneuver, but other than that, she was fine. "Is shooty gauntlet better than laser?" She asked, smirking, knowing that Ginnie liked technical and correct terminology. She wouldn't try and actually piss the other girl off, but getting her to shoot without thinking would help her dodge.
Then Ginnie fired another shot while pretending to check her nails, and Aileen wasn't expecting the angle on this one. She moved to one side, but it caught her in the waist and knocked her down and forwards. She was able to catch herself and climb to her feet, but she'd been somewhat winded. She was just happy it hadn't been a higher powered shot. But the arrogance of it had annoyed her slightly. "You getting cocky with me, Stark?" She asked, but there was still a smile on her face as she watched her friend.
