Obviously this is a Frequently Asked Questions sheet! Here you will find questions that are, you guessed it, frequently asked! This is here in hopes that it will help people get a better grasp of our vision, and is a supplement to the rules and the ongoing plot. Every now and then, if we feel a good question is posed, it will be added to this list!
Q: When did the Universes officially merge?
A: Around 1985, give or take a few months putting the in game time at the current date.
Q: Does these mean events after this didn’t happen?
A: This will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. However due to time suddenly being compressed all of the big events, Civil War, Infinity Crisis, Blackest Night, Phoenix Saga, etc happened before the merger. The outcomes were the same and all part of people's pasts. Everything that happened AFTER the merger is brand new to this universe.
Q: Is it possible for someone who is dead in the comics, to be alive now?
A: Entirely possible. However it is a case by case basis and we will need a specific reason on how thy are suddenly alive.
Q: Does this mean the identity of every hero is known to the government and perhaps even general public?
A: Officially the act was repealed shortly after the merger and all records erased. However anyone who knows SHIELD has trouble believing this.
Q: What about the other universes? I see others are mentioned.
A: This is largely on a case-by-case basis, however, it should generally fall within the same time period as the two large events. While we are predominantly Marvel and DC, blow back from The Battle has begun pulling in other universes. We presume that they are likely being pulled in, possibly one character at a time. They currently exist in presumed urban legends or rumors. Namely large turtles in the NYC sewers, a red 'demon-like creature' running around the city. An increase in vampires followed by a sudden and drastic decrease in their numbers, etc.
Q: Image Comics, Top Cow, IDW, Dark Horse, etc. have a lot of ongoings set in their own continuities, how does this work?
A: Once again, a case-by-case basis. While we do allow characters from these universes, this doesn’t mean we’ll allow ALL of the concepts, characters, etc. that exist within them. We like to view these as possibilities versus hard facts. Where as the main continuities of Marvel and DC are merged into a single realm, these other universes are simply bleeding into this new, magnetic universe.
Q: What about characters that exist in several universes (gods, etc.)
A: In cases such as these, we tend to go with the rule of thumb that more prominent character is the one that remains canon. When characters existed in both realms, when they merged, they become a single being. They have the memories, experiences, etc. of both universes, but there is a clear, dominant personality (which his reflective of the more prominent/popular character.)
Q: What about Metahumans? Are they still a thing?
A: Yes and now. We feel as though the term is slightly redundant, seeing as it was simply DC's answer to the term 'Mutant' to begin with. As such, all characters are referred to as 'Mutants' or 'Mutates' versus that of 'Metahumans.'
Q: What about custom content? Can I create my own races, universes, etc?
A: No. With the vast library you have your disposal, we are not allowing custom content to such a degree. Please do your best to create a character for this site, not warp the site and its content to fit your character.
Q: What about other company specific races or subraces?
A: Case-by-case basis. An example of one that would remain, however limited, would be the Homo Magi from DC Comics. Just because they're here, doesn't mean all magic users are members of this subrace. They would still be relatively rare.
Q: What about cities that existed in both universes?
A: They merged, often violently but with little noticeable changes.
Q: Can parents be from two different universes?
A: Of course! What fun would it be if you were limited? The only thing we ask is that you give a coherent, plausible reason as to how the characters met, got together, etc. Please try not to be cliche. We even allow adoptive parents/guardians as opposed to ONLY birth parents.
Q: Can I play an alternate universe/timeline child from the comics?
A: This is a case by case basis. We recommend you contact the staff before hand. Our most likely answer will be no. However you could use them as a template.
Q: Can I play as a canon child?
A: Once again, this is a case-by-case basis. Certain characters don't age (or age slowly,) and thus COULD be playable in the setting. However, that being said, the staff reserves the right to decline and or ban certain characters from use (for storyline purposes, future NPC usage, etc.)
Q: Can I have the Infinity Gauntlet?
A: No. Such powerful items are largely used for plot events and NPCs. This can be said for entities as well. If you're applying and saying that your character has The Phoenix Force, or is a conduit, chances are that you're going to get a pretty harsh review.
Q: Well what happened to said Infinity Gauntlet?
A: After Thanos was defeated and the gauntlet removed from him it was broken down and divided up among the heroes. The gems themselves went to Nova Corps, Green Lanterns, a representative of the Kryptonians, a representative of the Bat Family, one to the Justice League Watchtower and another in the Avengers Mansion. Each one took the gem and hid it their own way, not telling anyone else. The Gauntlet itself was seized by the Illuminati and is rumored to often circulate between Atlantis, Atalan, Wakanda and even Doomstadt.
Q: What about an Omega?
A: Probably not. This is another thing that is a case-by-case, but more often than not it's going to be no. This goes for overly powerful characters as well, not just mutants. Omegas make up a minuscule amount of the mutant population. Powerful beings, while popular in comics, also tend to be a rather small demographic, and that' something we'd like to maintain on the board as well.[/ul][/ul][/div]
