"Well, you make it sound much more pleasant that the last time I was out there." She watched him, curiously as he seemed to center himself. That's when she let herself really look at him, while his eyes were closed. He was...rather handsome she supposed. She was more exposed to males than her sisters on the island, having spent much time in the underworld with her parents. But those souls were always a little...off to her. Jor however, was very "aesthetically pleasing" as her father would say. When his eyes opened again, he seemed much more clear and focused and she couldn't help but noticing their blue color. It was very...distracting. She turned away as Donna put a hand on her arm.
"You should go pack. I'm sure he'd like to get home. You two can visit any time." Zoey nodded then looked toward where the rows of small domiciles were, her feet moving before she had second thoughts. Already making a list of the things she wanted to bring with her in her head, Zoey motioned for Jor to follow her to her part time residence on Themyscira as he talked. Donna waved her a short good bye as she could see she had to talk to some of her Amazons so Jor didn't start a panic.
"I, of course would be willing to teach you. Though I will admit I am not the best teacher." She stopped in front of a small house in the middle of the second row and pushed open the door, ducking her head as she went inside. It was, for lack of a better term, pretty spartan in it's furnishings. There was of course a table with chairs off to the left, some pillows in a pile next to a small fire place, and a small kitchen. And an entire wall full of books and scrolls next to a window at the back that had a small niche carved into it that seemed well worn, with it's own pile of pillows, and many used candles on the windowsill. But she bypassed that for another doorway that lead to her room. That room, unlike the rest of the house was covered in murals; wall to ceiling. Each wall depicted a season on the island while the ceiling looked like a swirl of starry sky with jewels for actual constellations. It had taken her awhile to do it all, and it had changed over the years as she let her whims dictate what would be painted, but this had lasted the longest.
"Sorry I didn't give you the tour...I...Think I am excited." She picked up a bag and put a few accessories for her hair in it, as well as her cap she had received from her father. She didn't have much to take, at least in this room. She wandered back over to her bookshelf and stared at it for a moment. This, this would be the hard part. This was but a small sample of her larger collection in the underworld, but these were her favorites. It would be hard for her to whittle the selection down even more.
"I...do not know which to take...this is quite a dilemma..."

After being dismissed by the Queen of the Amazons, Jor gave Donna a quick nod and followed with Zoey. He had cleared his head of the conflicting information his emotional matrix and was now able to focus. For the moment anyway. The rest of the Amazon population did not seem as happy to see him as Donna did. They were looking at him like Zoey first did. He gave them a small wave and pointed to his feet, floating above the island soil and was only met with hard stares. This was what Walter would have called a tough crowd.
"I am sure that you will do just fine. Perhaps, I can teach you Kryptonian in return as a thank you."
The house was very interesting to Jor. His investigative eyes scanned the whole building, taking in the murals and the constellations. Jor ran a hand over the mural. Art was slightly different on Krypton, but not so much that he couldn't appreciate the beauty of it. His logical side said it was aesthetically pleasing, but his emotional matrix allowed him to experience the beauty of it. "These murals are beautiful. The constellations are very accurate for each season depicted. You are a talented artist."
Jor took time to look at the books and scrolls on her bookshelf. The shelf took up an entire wall. It was a smaller collection than expected, but rather well worn, which Jor deduced meant these were her favorites. "I do imagine we will still have time for a short tour, some other time. Your excitement is understandable. I am excited that you can accompany me." He looked at her books and made a quick calculation.
"Why don't you take all of them. I can carry them all and I have a place you can store them." Jor offered her a smile.

"Ah, I suppose you are right, we do have time for a tour. We do not actually have a set time to leave." Zoey was actually getting excited to leave, now that she'd thought about it. She hadn't left Themyscira in years, and with good reason, at least for her. But she still had grown curious, what the world of man had become in the long time since she'd been out there. She knew that Donna had hidden the island away from the world again, but she assured Zoey it was not because of the world at large, just a select few powerful beings. Both of the Earth and not. The books Hermes would bring her fascinated her, made her more curious as to what had transpired since the World War. And here was an opportunity to explore outside her little haven.
"Well, there is not much to show, it's rather simple, but it has all I require. There is a kitchen for preparing meals," she pointed, taking a few steps toward it. "And my reading nook. Where I spend most of my time. Over there is my fireplace, which I rarely use. It does not get that cold here, but on the rare occasion it does, I usually have a book in hand and sit next to it. Over here," she headed toward her room again. "Is where I sleep. When I remember to go there. And...thank you for the compliment. I have had many years to practice painting but still, I think, it could be better."
She blinked at him, curious how he could carry all her books. She probably could as well, it would just be very unwieldy. But he was offering. So, she thought for a moment how to transport them all. Then she stepped back into her room and pulled some blankets off her bed and laid them out before her bookshelf. "If you are sure we can take them all, then...thank you. I think we can fit them all in these blankets. We can each carry one." She started to pull the books off her shelf, taking a moment to look at them, remembering each story and resisting the urge to open them and start over. They would never leave if she did that. But he had offered her a place to put them, so she could do that once they arrived and put them away. Pretty soon the shelf was empty, and Zoey looked at it, it suddenly hitting her that she was leaving everything she'd ever known.
"This...is all I've known for a very long time. It feels very strange to see it so empty."

As Zoey gave Jor the grand tour, he nodded. His apartment had many of the same functions, but Jor mused on the fact that he rarely ever used them. He never really slept and ate more for enjoyment lately, than anything else. He had discovered that his physiology, when powered by solar energy, did not require food. His studies showed that this was a normal response to yellow sunlight.
"I find that sometimes in the case of one's home, sometimes simple is the best. I originally lived in a lovely wilderness when I came to this planet. My friends suggested that some kind of shelter would be better, but I don't really feel hot or cold the same way that they do. I do have a place, but I don't spend much time in it, unfortunately. That will probably change."
The comments Zoey made registered and Jor smiled and nodded. "I believe that is the mark of a true student. When you acknowledge that you do not know everything, only then can you learn more. That's how you keep improving."
Jor assisted Zoey in removing some of the books, flipping through them, taking care not to read them at too high a speed and damage them. He finished two of them and nodded. "These are interesting stories. I will have to read more of them at some point. I understand what Frankenstein is now. This all makes more sense." He helped her place the books in the blankets and gave her a reassuring smile.
"You make this sound very final. If you do not like the world, you can come back here in an afternoon. I will help you move everything back. It will be very quick."

There was a sad smile on Zoey's face as she looked around the small, simple place she called home most of the year. It was not as opulent as her father's palace but it was definitely hers. And she would miss it terribly. But she had made up her mind to leave, and although it was not a finality, she knew she would have to resist the temptation to simply come back here and hide away again. So while she was appreciative of his offer to help her move back if she did not like it, she would not take it. If not for herself, then for her queen. She would do as her queen said.
"I of course will come back. I...have to. At least to go see my parents. Every three months. I...have to refresh my connections to the Earth. Quite like my mother every winter." Living on the island, her weeklong sojourn to Hades was merely a formality every three months. It had been easy to do, simply going through the gates of Chaos and spending time with her parents. Now, however, would be harder. She would have to fly back here, drop whatever she was in the middle of and come through the gates. Or else there would be dire consequences. She had no want to find out exactly what those consequences were, though she could guess it resulted in her death. But she would not let all of that stop her. She would be strong, and courageous, learning all that she could until she had to inevitably come back.
"I know that I will not like it, at least not initially. The last time I had ventured off the island, the whole world was at war. It was...well it was very terrible. I had to help ferry the souls of the dead because there was just too many for my father to handle. I saw far too much devastation and death." Zoey frowned, remembering the many battlefields she wandered, seeing men torn apart, the devices they had built to destroy each other in mass quantities. The last place she had wandered before swearing off of the world all together had been completely flattened. There was no life at all. Some places there were no bodies, just silhouettes on walls that had the stubbornness to remain standing. She picked up an old and charred book, remembering she'd found it behind the only wall left standing in what was once a house, telling herself she would learn how to read it, if only to understand the people who had died there. "Man had learned how to tear each other apart down to the atoms...It was a great and terrible sight to behold." Slowly, she finished placing her books in the blankets before tying them up and picking up her pack.
"I should say my farewells before I go. Stay close. Even among the Amazons, there are some who would rather attack than talk." She stepped outside somberly, trying to look ahead rather than behind. It had been many years since the last time she had left the island. Even Donna said the world had changed. So she would try and look at it objectively rather than thinking the whole world now looked like Nagasaki.

Zoey's voice made Jor smile as she talked about returning to renew her powers every so often. It made sense. That was how his powers worked in a way. The sun renewed them. Wonder Girl's it seemed, were tied to the Earth. He gave her another genuine smile. "I will see to it that you are able to return uninhibited then." His super hearing heard her heart speed up slightly as she spoke of returning home. Jor supposed he understood the sentiment.
"I will be honest with you. They still war among themselves. They squabble for land, resources and other things even as we speak, but as I said: there is hope for them. They can be a great people if they are given the chance. They have the same potential that any other race does. Even Krypton had it's rough historical patches. From what little I know of Kryptonian history, there was a great period of blood shed on the planet, before it was unified. And another when they expanded beyond the stars for period during their imperialist phase. I suppose all races have growing pains, before they find their place in the universe."
In his short time studying humanity, Jor had grown somewhat attached to them. Flawed as they were, he did think they had great potential. As he had said, even Krypton had suffered some problems early in their society. Jor was confident that eventually the humans would manage to see past their squabbles and make their way into the universe. They were a rather resilient race and they impressed him daily. He would make sure to show Zoey some of these sights. He might never change her mind, but he could show her another way.
"I will remain close to you. I am not entirely sure I am able to withstand an attack yet. Perhaps, you could warn me if something I do is... incorrect for your culture. I do not wish to offend anyone more than I already have."
