He wanted to growl again. The time was more than respectable. Especially with a ball jabbed into his knee. "Basically a hundred metres," He argued for the sake of it. He was just annoyed now that he didn't even get a serious congratulation. He started to stretch off as she talked. He was going to need a shower and a change of clothes before classes started. "Next time don't wake me up in the morning," He said grouchily. He was definitely not a morning person. He didn't care how long she kept him up at night, as long as she didn't wake him up. "Most of that?" He asked, not even sarcastic. He just sounded slightly worried. As a lot of pain tolerance sounded like it would hurt. A lot. He looked down at the shirt. He didn't like it that much, but still, he preferred it without holes and without it being covered in blood. Now it was just sticking to him and stinking. "Yes ma'am," He said sarcastically, and headed back to the school, peeling his shirt off as he got close to his room.
-----------------------
Edward shifted his weight awkwardly as he sat down in his Superhuman Senses class. He didn't see the point in the class especially, but it was on his timetable, and he didn't think May would like it if he skipped class. He didn't have anyone sitting next to him, but he didn't exactly mind it that way. After the training session, he'd taken a very quick shower, which was made a lot quicker by the lack of door. He then pulled on jeans and a better shirt, and spent five seconds trying to fix the door. Then he got annoyed and just slammed it back into the door-frame. Despite that, he felt like he could still smell blood on himself. And given his lesson, maybe others could as well.
He was just settling back into his seat, ready to take some notes and maybe pay attention when May walked into the classroom, and he practically jumped out of his seat. He stopped slouching. She wasn't about to drag him out for another training session, was he? A few people in the class were looking at him and grinning, and most of them were smirking. So word about what had happened this morning had spread. He flipped off a few choice people and then turned back to face the front. He saw a couple of them checking her out, and he felt the urge to hit them. Sit down and be quiet? She couldn't...No. She wasn't. Was she? Teaching the class? He groaned imperceptibly. Now he'd probably have to actually pay attention.

May sat there calmly reading, listening to the ticking of the clock as the students got situated. She could sense the tension in the room and found it hilarious. She was wondering just who would speak first, basically breaking her first rule. She had a feeling it wouldn't be Eddie, he was smarter than that. So there she sat calmly before closing her book right as the clock struck the hour.
"Your regular teacher had something personal come up or something else. I think they told me but I was kind of fading out. Anyways, since I was already here I decided to offer up my wonderful services and tutor your youngin's."
She heard someone whisper something and snapped her head in his direction with a raised eyebrow.
"Seriously? You thought you could get away with whispering in a class for those with superhuman senses, being taught by someone over your level. Stand up and tell everyone what you said."
'Umm I'm sorry but...'
"Do it."
The kid stood up nervously, hands at his sides.
'I uhh said. Great, a lesson from the psycho b*tch who beat up her own mother...'
She noticed those near him lean away from him and likely whatever attack was coming. But instead a wave of calm swept over her. She stepped down from the desk and walked over to the chalkboard.
"Today we're going to work out on tuning out loud or offensive sounds, scents and so forth. First we'll work on sounds. You, up here. The rest of you will notice sound canceling headphones. I highly suggest you put them on when I tell you."
As the kid stepped forward May calmly placed her hand on his back and slammed him into the chalkboard a little harder than she'd intended.
"Oops. Sorry, don't know my own strength sometimes. Now the key to cancelling out harsh sounds is simpler than it may seem. You must learn to accept the sounds, smell or whatever as part of the environment and move past it. Now would be the time to put your headphones on."
When all of the students had their headphones on she unleashed one claw and slowly dragged it down the chalkboard releasing a high pitched sound.
"Now move past it!"
She yelled, holding the student there. He brought his hands up to block the sound and she knocked them away.

Edward was still slightly annoyed at having May teaching him. It was never fun to be related to the teacher, that was for sure. The smirks people were still directing at him didn't help. Seeing as May hadn't taken issue with his middle finger before, he used it pretty liberally now. Sure, they were just looking for a reaction, but he wasn't really good at ignoring things and staying calm. He nodded slightly as May explained why she was there. It wasn't exactly much of a story, but it didn't seem out of character for May. Had she known he was in this class before she'd shown up? Not that she'd exactly paid him much attention since she'd shown up. Which wasn't something he was upset about.
He smirked as somebody tried to get away with pissing off May and she made them stand up, but when he heard what they said, he slammed his fist into his desk, and he almost stood up to start something. Had it been any other teacher and someone had said that about May, he'd have gone into it without hesitating, but the knowledge that May would probably throw him through a window if he tried it kept him sitting down. Most of the class turned to glance at him as he hit the desk in anger, but then turned back to the scene. Well, at least May was going to give the guy hell. For a second he thought she was going to tear into him herself, but then she seemed to go calm. Edward wasn't sure if that was good or not.
He frowned at the lesson brief. Was that on the curriculum or had May made it up on the spot? Well, he wasn't about to question her. He didn't bother to hide his laugh as the guy was launched into the chalkboard by May. It was pretty funny, and he deserved it. And then May was telling them to put on headphones and he wasn't about to disagree. When he put them on, he blinked slightly at the absence of sound. He hadn't realised just how much background noise there was until it was gone. But then he saw the expression on the guy's face, and he figured it was a good thing he was missing a full fifth of his senses. He laughed again as May batted the guy's hands away from his ears. "He deserves it," He commented, but he couldn't hear the words himself

May continued to drag the claw down the board as the guy tried to block out the sound. She was enjoying this much more than she rightfully should. Of course that was pretty much the way she was going. She was doing this purely out of revenge and fully enjoying herself more than she should. She of course knew that she'd likely be speaking to the Headmaster soon enough. Or was it Head Mistress? The higher ups changed so often that she could never keep track. Of course she also never really TRIED to keep track. More likely because she didn't care. She was always getting into trouble regardless. But then again she had issues with authority, pretty much always had.
"Focus."
She said, giving him no choice but to try and fight his way through it. Soon she noticed his heart rate slow and his breathing mellow. His muscles relaxed and he seemed to be moving past it. She stopped with the claws and smiled.
"Good job, you did it."
Then she quickly slammed him against the board.
"Say something like that again and I will hurt you in so many fun and varied ways that you will beg for me to kill you. Am I clear?"
She asked giving him a dose of super strength squeeze on the back of the neck and he winced. She then let him go and he quickly rushed back to his seat. He was trying to hide the fear and embarrassment on his face as he put his head. She motioned for everyone to take their headphones off and crossed her arms.
"Who's next? You have to know by now that if I have to pick it won't be fun."

Edward was very glad for the noise-cancelling headphones as he saw the expression on the boy's face. Of course, the expression made him happy the guy didn't have any. He'd been prepared to hit the guy for what he'd said, but May was hurting him in a much more legitimate way. Not that she probably wouldn't get in trouble for teaching malpractice. He snorted again as her lips moved, and the guy looked in pain. Apparently metal claws down a chalkboard made a bitch of a noise. Well, if he was lucky, he wasn't going to have to experience that himself.
After another minute or so, it looked like May was letting up. The guy looked in less pain, and then she stopped. The smile made him wonder if she'd forgiven him, but then just as he pulled the headphones from his ears, ahead of being told to, she slammed him into the chalkboard. Well, he had it coming. It was the threat that really topped it off and made it special, however. The guy rushed past, and Edward made sure to mutter after him. "Arsehole." Sure, May would hear, but with a bit of luck she wouldn't mind him standing up for her. The others pulled off their headphones, and Edward winced at the question. Already people were shooting him looks, as if they were guessing who she'd pick if she had to. Well, it was nice to know that news of her treatment of him spread a lot.
He kept his arms determinedly folded, and just stared ahead, trying not to look defiant. Sure, he was still kind of annoyed about her teaching the lesson, but he figured it'd be better not to let her see that. He just avoided eye contact, tried to make himself unnoticeable, and hoped somebody else raised their hand.

May looked over the class as the SOB sat down. She eyed him careful before moving on. She noticed everyone eyeing Edward and smirked lightly. Sure she could grab him and put him through some terrible misery, but no. Instead she was going to put him under as much pressure as possible. So instead she began picking every single student BUT Edward. When she went through everyone they all sat there, rubbing their ears and trying to avoid eye contact with May.
"Alright, one left, c'mon up here Pup."
She had no issues with calling him Pup in public. Of course should someone else call him Pup she'd get pissed. That was a family name and no one got away with that but her.
'Pssh, Pup...'
"You really wanna play this game now c****ss?"
His gaze quickly shot down to his desk.
"Thought so. Now c'mon Pup, your turn. The record is 75 seconds. For your sake I hope you really beat that."
She ignored the 'Oohhhs' and went back to focusing on their desks. She leaned against the chalkboard, her claw tapping the board and waiting patiently. She whistled calmly, getting ready to set everything up. She was going to make him suffer. Mostly because he had a name to live up to and he needed to punished for not quickly volunteering.

Edward tensed as he waited for her to pick her, but instead, she picked another student. And then another. And then another. The noise cancelling headphones came on and off, and on and off, and on and off. He was no genius, but he could clearly see what she was trying to do. She was trying to freak him out, to make him nervous. And it was working. She actually made her way around the entire class except for him, and he glared at her, able to predict what was coming. He hadn't been expecting the use of her mocking nickname, however, and his cheeks turned pink. Especially when someone else took it up, but May shut that down pretty quickly.
Feeling like a condemned man walking to the gallows, he walked the length of the classroom up to the blackboard. He knew better than to argue, or complain, or even sass May like some people had tried. Apparently they didn't learn as fast as he did. Instead, he just fixed her with a glare, not breaking eye contact as he walked towards her. "You're really gonna make this hurt, aren't you?" He asked under his breath, trying to make it low enough so May could hear it and only May. He'd just have more things to be annoyed about with her.
"For my sake?" He asked as calmly as he could, which was in itself a form of defiance. Still, he clenched his hands into fists, ready for the pain that she was going to inflict on his ears. Seventy-five seconds. He could beat that. He imagined he had to, or May would kick the shit out of him at three in the morning or something. Just seventy-five seconds. He could hold on for that long. Although he was pretty sure May wasn't going to play fair.

She simply smiled when he asked if she'd make it hurt. She had no real intentions of being unfair. She was going to be fair about everything. However should he fail to break the record, THEN it would get complicated. She simply stared at him and slowly extended her claw. Admittedly she was teasing slightly, but at the end of the day it was much more psychological than anything. Slowly she touched her claw to the board and began to slowly drag it down.
"Remember, you need to move past the sound. Let it just become part of the ambient background noise. You can do it."
She said, slowly dragging her claw down the board. She was being very harsh on him, and she didn't really care. She knew it was for the greater good. He was a Howlett and needed to get tougher. Of course she didn't tell him but she had been designing a special costume for him. Hopefully for when he became a full on X-Man one day. She'd heard rumblings of them creating a brand new X-Force, a Black Ops style team. Her name had come up several times and she'd also wanted Edward on the team. She'd been looking at the roster, trying to find new members.
"Move past it."
She said as she continued to drag the claw around the board. In one hand she had a stopwatch, timing it down.

Edward ignored the smile as she extended a claw and moved it to the board. He was locking his jaw, looking vaguely defiant and very determined. It was just seventy-five seconds. He'd been thrown out of a window and gotten back to his feet in a minute, he could pull this off. But then the claw began screeching down, and his sensitive ears began to register the pain. He'd had no idea how bad it was from behind the noise-cancelling headphones. He tried to keep his face steady, but before long his eyes were screwed up. How long had he been doing this for? It couldn't be long.
He dimly heard her advice to move past it as she continued to drag her claws along the board, but it was a lot easier said than done. He figured she'd been through the same thing before and learned to manage it, but how she'd managed that, he didn't know. It wasn't the worst pain he'd ever experienced, but it wasn't letting up, and it was constant. He figured May was going to try to maximise how much it hurt. It didn't take long for him to try and press one ear into his shoulder, trying to block out some of the noise. He knew better than to try and raise his hands to his ears, however, and even with the pain, he had enough control not to do that. It probably helped his control that he could feel the risk of his claws poking through, and he didn't want them to be near his head when that happened. He wasn't sure which was more at risk, his claws or his head, but he was protective of both of those.
"I'm trying," He managed to say through the pain. He tried to ignore the screeching, make it fade into the background like she was saying. Treat it like the drone of a teacher or something similar. But no, the noise was too piercing, too penetrating. He had no idea how long he'd been doing this for. He thought he might just hold on, but then the tone changed to something shriller, higher-pitched, and he found his head tipped back, his mouth open, and his claws were by his side. "I can't!" He roared, his ears screaming at him. He had no idea how long he'd been going, but he didn't think it was seventy-five seconds.

She pulled his head away from his shoulder, not wanting him to cover his ears in anyway. He was having trouble focusing, that much was obvious. She had a lot of work to do. It seemed each session she had more and more added to her list of what to teach him. He definitely had a lot to work on, but he'd get through it. Well that or he'd die, which hopefully didn't happen. She couldn't risk losing any more family members, especially one under her protection.
"This won't end until you do it Pup."
She said calmly over the noise. She herself had no problems droning it out. Sure it took focus but it also wasn't impossible. In the end it simply took practice, something he and the rest of the students, would need to get.
"Level your breathing, calm your heart rate. Learn to accept it as part of the environment. There's nothing you can do to stop it, accept it. What if someone needed your help in a busy steel mill? You going to let them suffer because of the noise?"
Admittedly she was pushing bit much. But it seemed to be the only way to get him to actually accomplish it. He responded better to stress, which was something she'd need to break him of. Waiting till something got this bad was simply not an option. He needed to do it and move on.

The screeching continued despite his roar, and she was holding his head, not letting him block the sound out. The urge to hit her arm, just to knock it away so he could cover his ears was strong. But he wasn't suicidal and he figured she'd have a way to humiliate him in front of the class if that happened. So despite the noise forcing his claws out from between his fingers, he tried to keep still, grinding his teeth together. On instinct, he tried to shake his head free, using as much of his strength as he dared. "I can't!" He repeated, still loudly as she held him in place. He'd heard nails down a chalkboard before, but that didn't compare to metal claws being scratched down its surface by somebody with super strength. Especially not when you were this close. He hadn't realised his ears were so sensitive.
He could hear her advice, but he couldn't make sense of most of it, and he couldn't put into practice what he did understand. Well, he was tempted to disprove that there was no way to stop it, but he doubted she'd be pleased if he punched her in the gut to prove a point. And from the look of her, it'd just end up hurting his fist. If somebody was trapped in a steel mill, he'd fucking call her to come help them if it'd get him out of this lesson. She was the X-Man, after all. He started trying to count how many seconds he was listening for, but every few seconds the noise would change pitch slightly and he'd lose count. He tried everything he could to block out the noise, and that probably only distracted him for a few seconds. Well, it looked like he'd just need to tough it out. Seemed to happen a lot, recently. He opened his eyes, which were screwed shut, to shoot May a look of extreme anger, but that was all he could really do. "How much longer?" He mouthed

"You won't!"
She yelled back. Then she resheathed her claws and shook her head.
"Sit down. I don't have all day to spend with someone who refuses to try. I told them they should've come for you sooner, but no, they didn't listen."
She said sitting down. She mad a dismissive wave of her hand towards his seat and picked up a book. She began jotting notes down before setting the book down. Instead of yelling or being angry she was calm, almost too calm. She sat down behind the desk and began to flip through the lesson plan. She glanced up at the class briefly before going back to the plan.
"Alright, there's still a little bit of time left. We're going to focus on calming techniques. Apparently your hack teacher hasn't been teaching you much. Teaching you to hinder your own abilities, no wonder most of you failed. I won't teach you to be mundane, because you're not."
She said shaking her head. She knew there were a few teachers who continued to teach that. Teaching students to blend in as opposed to mastering their abilities. This was certainly not something she'd teach and would be having a word with the teacher. She didn't like her plan and felt that she was hindering the students' abilities.
"The trick to calming yourself is far easier said than done. Especially given the crap you've been taught. The first thing to focus on is your breathing. Slow it down and your heart rate will slow. Think calming thoughts and do your best to relax."

He didn't care what she yelled back as she retracted his claws, and breathed a sigh of relief as the noise stopped. But then what she said next had him stalking back to his seat with a glare. Where did she get off telling him she didn't have time to waste on them. But then he paused. "Who did you tell?" He asked, frowning even as he headed back to his seat. That sentence was ominous. When he reached it, he threw himself into it, slumping back. He was probably going to regret this entire lesson at some point, but for now he was just pissed. He was expecting May to be angry as well, but instead she was calm. That was also pretty ominous. If there was one thing scarier than a very angry May, it was May when she was like this.
If Edward was a more dedicated student, or in any way a dedicated student, he'd probably get annoyed about May insulting the teacher. But he wasn't exactly into lessons, and he didn't care about Supernatural Senses class anyway. So he just sat back and listened while May insulted the teacher and his class. Still, he didn't see the point in all this calming down crap. And sure, May could act calm and collected when she had to, but Edward knew it wasn't real. From what she'd said, she used sex and drinking to act like she was calm. Slowing his breathing, thinking calming thoughts. She sounded just like the crappy anger management counsellors they'd always tried to foist on him at school.
Still, there wasn't any harm in trying, and given May, there'd probably be a fair bit of harm if she caught him not trying. And he doubted he'd find taking deep breaths quite so easy if she slammed him in the chest. So he slowly took breaths, breathing in and breathing out evenly, like he'd been shown all those times by anger management counsellors. He'd never actually done it before, but it wasn't like it took a lot of mastery.

May ignored his question and went back to focusing on the students. She would deal with him later, and give the faculty heads a piece of her mind. They wanted to wait to recruit him and he was so far behind in his powers. She was just grateful that she'd gotten to him before the Brotherhood had. She didn't like the idea of having to fight a family member. How her mom and grandfather did it she'd never understand. She knew fighting Edward, an ACTUAL fight, would crush her. She'd fight to survive but could also never bring herself to finish it. It was too risky and she didn't want to risk her only family. As the bell rang she looked up with a smile.
"Alright, that's it for today. I want you all to focus on your calming techniques. But don't be afraid to find your own style. Although as a teacher I should say it should be sober. I'm going to have a chat with your old teacher about stepping down. I'll see you all tomorrow. That is all."
She said before going back to the books before her. She was going to take over the class, whether the teacher liked it or not. The teacher was a hack and had no business teaching mutants. Sure she might not be the best teacher and given her other job she was far from honorable. However she would do a far better job teaching these students then they'd gotten. Several students failing a basic test this was far in was evidence enough of a failure.

Finally, the class was over. He was normally one of the students looking at the clock counting down the seconds until he was free, but he'd never wanted a lesson to be over and done with more than this one. There are still people looking at him and laughing about May and Pup and him failing at the end, and seeing as he doubted May would just stand there if he started a fight, he made liberal use of his middle finger, showing to basically everyone still in the room. He'd find a way to get them back for it later.
As he walked away from the lesson, he pulled the pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and lit one. In the end, he'd had to pay an older student to buy some for him, and that was just plain embarrassing. Back in England, it'd been easy to find shops that bent the rules, but apparently they were a rarity in America. So he was making sure to savour this pack as he put one of the fags in his mouth and lit it. He was heading back to his room anyway, having a free period before his next lesson. Sure, some of the students might smell it on him, but he wasn't expecting to see May any time soon, so he was expecting he'd have had at least one shower and several hours, and by then hopefully she wouldn't smell the tobacco. Although he wasn't sure how she'd react. She smoked cigars, after all.
He took a toke of it as he leaned on a wall not too far away from the classroom. Now that was what he called a proper calming method. As he took several more, he thought about the past few days. Two training sessions and a class with May. Sure, she could be cruel, bitchy, violent and unrelenting, but he was definitely starting to care about her. She definitely didn't feel like a niece, and didn't even feel like a cousin anymore. Which possibly made things worse. But still, he figured there were worse family members who could beat the crap out of him.
