Marty has various scars associated with his Green Lantern duties as well, as from his experiences as a test pilot and his rough and tumble childhood.
Equipment and Weapons:
Green Lantern Power Ring: A piece of technology crafted by the Guardians of the Universe from the distilled willpower of the denizens of the universe. This device can respond to the mental commands of the wearer and produce nearly anything. The power of the ring is bound only by the wearer.
Powers:
Emerald Energy Focus: The power ring is used to channel willpower energy. This green energy is considered the core of the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum. The energy can be shaped to do a variety of things, as long as the wearer possesses the willpower to harness it.
Energy Projection: The ring can be used to fire blasts of energy or create weapons that fire those blasts. The ring can unleash force blasts of tremendous power, and if a user possesses enough willpower, those blasts have been known to even stagger Superman.
Force Field: The ring can project forcefields of various sizes and shapes. These forcefields are designed to protect the Green Lantern from a variety of things including, but not limited to: vacuum, radiation, intense gravity, impacts from particles/projectiles and a variety of other things. Rookie ring users still have trouble using the ring to defend from yellow energy attacks unless they can overcome fear. If a Lantern is in space, the ring can activate the ring as part of a protective system to protect the wielder.
Energy Constructs: The ring is capable of transforming the emerald energy into constructs. These hard light creations are mimicries of anything that the wearer can think up. The constructs are only limited by the imagination of the wearer. The ring cannot be used to create anything permanent or living. The constructs are breakable and can fade when the wearer’s will is not focused on them or the ring’s charge runs out.
Phasing: The Power Ring can allow a user to phase through walls. The materials that the ring can phase through are limited only by molecular density and the will of the user. Certain chaotic energy fields such as magic give the ring a problem when phasing as well.
Environmental Playback: Upon the user’s request, the ring can recreate any environment in holographic form based on data the ring has recorded within its memory banks. The wielder cannot affect anything with in the projection and will appear wraith like in the full color projection. Even though the ring can project mostly green, the projection will always appear full color, no matter the user’s skill level.
Invisibility & Light Refraction: The ring can be used to bend light and render a Lantern invisible. This is useful when a Lantern wishes to change into his uniform and conceal their identity. This power, with more experience and willpower can be used to make full color constructs.
Energy Twin: The ring allows a Lantern to create an energy based copy of themselves. This copy can be used to gather information much more efficiently than a physical form can. The energy twin is invisible to all but other Lanterns and the Guardians of the Universe and can travel much faster than the Lantern’s physical form. Information gathered by this form can be transferred to the ring wielder once the twin reintegrates with the ring.
Energy Absorption: A Lantern’s ring is capable of absorbing different types of energy, if needed. This does not recharge the ring’s own energy stores, but can be used to absorb some types of attacks. For example, if the ring absorbed Kryptonite radiation, it could discharge it at a rogue Kryptonian.
Flight: The ring can manipulate anti-gravitons, which allow him to fly extremely fast. A Lantern can reach speeds of up to Mach 10 within a planetary atmosphere. Marty can also fly up to 99% of the speed of light in space. The ring allows the user to travel into transluminal velocity as well, so that a Lantern can travel faster than light to other worlds.
Superhuman Strength: A Lantern can use his ring to create constructs that can lift an excess of 100 tons. They can also use their aura to project the ability to do the same physically.
Wormholes & Spacial Warps: The power rings can be used to navigate special wormholes created by the Guardians to travel to and from Oa. They can also be used to navigate black holes by more experienced users.
Limited Cellular Regeneration: The ring has an ability to heal physical injuries. The more a person has a knowledge of medical procedures, the broader the ring’s abilities to repair. This ability, like all others, is also based on a wielders will. More extreme injuries can send him into shock, which can limit his ability to focus.
Electromagnetic Scanning: The ring can scan and detect any electromagnetic transmission/energy burst. This is useful for the tracking of certain signals to capture criminals and assist in rescue missions. The entire electromagnetic spectrum can be scanned through the ring, but some energies such as magic cannot be quantified by the ring.
Galactic Encyclopedia: The rings are capable of accessing the knowledge of the Book of Oa through a subspace link. This knowledge gathered by other Lanterns and rings is recorded in this book, as well as the accumulated knowledge of the Guardians of the Universe. This information is useful to help Green Lanterns resolve all sorts of situations they come across in the cosmos.
Universal Translator: The ring is capable of translating any language into any other language. The only restriction on this is that the language has to be one encountered by the Guardians of the Universe. This was done so that the various members of the Lantern Corps were able to communicate with each other and the various other races in the universe they came across. Though since the reconstruction of the Corps, it has been determined that certain materials have been lost.
Material Alteration: The ring can be used to generate a Green Lantern’s uniform. Usually, the uniform is generated over the clothing and when it disappears, the clothing emerges. The green part of the uniform is hot, while the black tends to be cold to the touch. Most of the uniforms generated by the ring tend to be a standardized version, though the Lanterns can change it to any variation they want. Usually, rookies start with a white circle and are given the Green Lantern symbol or “badge” upon graduation.
Ring Duplication: Most power rings are capable of duplicating themselves. The copies are capable of anything that the original ring can do, though usually the power supply is split between the copies. Experienced wearers can build other limitations into the rings if needed. Rings can be made so the copies cannot hurt the master ring wearer or even designed with an deactivation setting.
Emergency Beacon: The ring can be used to send out a distress signal either to the neighboring sectors or to the Green Lantern Corps in the entirety.
Homing Beacon: The ring is capable of leading other Lanterns to its wearer. This feature can be disabled by the wearer as needed, if they need to elude detection.
Mind Alteration: The ring can be used to alter a person’s mind. Though some uses of this technique are ethically debatable, there are sound uses for it. Certain portions of people’s memories can be erased in order to help protect them or the identity of a Green Lantern. Lanterns have also used this ability to beam information directly into the brain of another being, assisting them in a combat situation. If done incorrectly, the erasure can cause permanent mental damage to a being, which is why this is rarely used and if it is, only certain parts of memories are altered.
Pocket Dimension: An entire pocket dimension exists within the power ring. This subatomic world is accessible only by the wearer of the power ring. It can be used to store the ring bearer within in times of extreme danger. This can be used to stretch out the power ring’s charge and potentially save a Lantern’s life in life threatening situation.
Security Protocol: The rings can be coded to only work for the Lantern they are assigned to. This will render the ring unusable by any other being, unless the user wills it. This restriction can be overridden by the death of the Lantern or a Guardian of the Universe. The ring had the lethal force prohibition lifted by the Guardians, first to allow lethal force against members of the Sinestro Corps, then against all enemies of the Green Lantern Corps. This is only used in the most extreme situations, and any use of it is always recorded by the ring and reviewed by the Honor Guard to make sure that the Lantern is not violating the Green Lantern Corps code of ethics. Improper use of the ring can result in expulsion from the Corps or worse.
Preset Conditions: Ring bearers can store pre-set commands inside them. These commands can activate at other points in time, even after the bearer is no longer wearing the ring or under certain conditions, such as being exposed to another Lantern’s ring. Abin Sur used this to hide a message in Hal Jordan’s ring which was unlocked by the presence of then Green Lantern Sinestro’s ring.
Thought Relay: This abilty allows for the connection and communication between minds. Lanterns can use this to speak to one another without verbalizing. It is very useful in a combat situation or when subtlety or secrecy is required.
Skills:
Indomitable Will: Being the son of Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris, Marty possesses incredible willpower much like both his parents. This ability allows him to control the ring, but also gets him into trouble on a daily basis.
Skilled Pilot: Marty has a fascination with all things flight related. He has yet to meet a vehicle he couldn’t fly. He got his pilot’s license at age 17 and has been training to become a test pilot much like his father.
Business knowledge: Marty’s parents run Ferris Aircraft together. Though Marty’s dream is to become a test pilot, his mother has been training him to take over the family business one day. Though he’s not Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne by any means, Marty knows his way around a board room.
Basic Aerospace Engineering- Marty knows basic aerospace engineering principals from his father and mother teaching him. He’s currently going to school at Coast City University and studying this as his major.
Weaknesses: (3 minimum)
1.) They call me Mellow Yellow- The power ring has an innate weakness against yellow. This is due to the Parallax impurity. The only way around this weakness is to accept fear and overcome it. If a Lantern succumbs to fear at any point during a fight, their ring becomes useless against yellow, which can be lethal.
2.) It’s all in the Ring- Marty’s powers rely on the ring. Once the power ring leaves his finger, he is completely powerless as Green Lantern. Though, he still possesses the strength of an average human teen who exercises regularly, without the ring, Marty is as vulnerable to injuries and sickness as any other member of his race.
3.) Magic? I don’t get it- The ring’s AI cannot comprehend the chaotic energies of magic. As such, it is vulnerable to the use of magical energies and cannot scan or interpret it.
4.) Unstable? I’m not unstable, you’re Unstable- Drugs, vertigo, neural interference or anything else that can incapacitate the wearer can render the ring useless as the wearer cannot focus his or her willpower.
5.) Batteries not Included- The Lantern ring is limited by the amount of power within the ring. The ring must be recharged every so often or it deactivates completely when the charge runs out. This is determined by the amount of use the ring sees. The wearer can feel how much energy is in the ring by willing it or can ask aloud for an amount and the AI will vocalize it.
6.) Shaken not Stirred- Certain vibrational frequencies can disrupt the ring user. It can cause the effects of the ring to be seen in miniature. This causes constructs to become smaller versions of what the Lantern may intend for them to actually be.
7.) Color Clash- Red Lantern rings can actually dissolve the energy of Green Lantern rings and can even corrupt the user’s power ring for a time. This can be solved by distancing oneself from the Red Lantern or encountering a Blue Lantern.

THE REST
Personality:
Marty is confident and self-assured. This sometimes comes off as arrogance to most people, but eventually, that shell can be cracked and folks see that he’s just trying to live up to the legacy left by his parents. He is very single-minded, which is good for a Green Lantern, as that focus aids him in ring slinging, but that has been known to get him into trouble with his civilian life. Although, it has been known to come in handy for his training to take over Ferris Aircraft, since he tends to pay close attention to details. It usually comes off as some sort of obsession to most people, depending on the situation and subject matter.
He usually feels like he has to prove himself to everyone and anyone because Marty feels like he needs to live up to the legacy of his father, Hal. Though Hal has tried to dissuade that, Marty always feels he can do better.
History:
Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris have a long and complicated history. They met as children, when Hal’s father worked for hers. They became reacquainted, years later, when Hal began his employment as a Test Pilot at Ferris Aircraft. Hal and Carol spent some time as on again/off again lovers throughout their lives. Carol and Hal were briefly enemies when she became Star Sapphire, a member of Hal’s rogue’s gallery. Hal rescued her from the evil gem’s grip. Eventually, after the Star Sapphires were turned into a Corps and the gems were split into rings and batteries by their leaders, the Zamarons, Carol became Star Sapphire once again. This time she was able to resist the ring’s control and fought alongside, Hal in the War of Light against the Black Lanterns and several other threats.
The two fell in love again and face many trials. Eventually, after years of continuing their on-again/off-again dance, Hal asked Carol to marry him. It was sometime before the two actually managed to tie the knot, and shortly after that Carol became pregnant with Marty. Hal remained with the Green Lantern Corps for the next 11 years, while also helping Carol run Ferris Aircraft. Hal had to stop being a test pilot due to the fact that no company could insure him to fly. He and Carol still took to the skies and would sometimes fly with young Marty, inspiring the boy to love anything flying.
Marty was a sometimes problematic child. He would never back down from a fight and always did what he could to keep others from being bullied. This caused some havoc for Hal and Carol since they had to grab him from the principal’s office on many occasions. Though Marty’s parents were not thrilled with their son fighting, they were proud of him for standing up for what he believed in.
When Thanos and Darkseid launched their attack on Earth, Hal was at the forefront of the counter attack, leading the combined forces of the Green Lantern Corps and the Nova Corps alongside Nova Prime against the cosmic despots. The battle was fierce and Hal saw many friends, including his longtime friend Kyle Rayner, die alongside them in the fight. This was a very sobering experience for Hal. He decided that it was time to give up his Green Lantern ring, remembering his childhood growing up without his own father.
Hal’s ring went off in search of a replacement and he threw himself into being a father for Marty and helping Carol run Ferris Aircraft. When Marty expressed that he wanted to learn to fly like both his parents, they were delighted. They taught him how to fly various aircrafts and even helped him get his pilot’s license. When he graduated from high school, Marty decided to enroll in the Coast City University for Aerospace Engineering.
Shortly after his freshman year of college, a power ring chose him to be the Green Lantern of Sector 2814. After completing his training, Marty found out that the ring that had chosen him was that of his father. The replacement that was chosen by the ring, a G’Newtian by the name of G’Norman, had been killed in a conflict in space. After his training was completed, Marty returned to Earth and became one of the active Green Lanterns in the sector. He ended up teaming up with the Teen Titans a few times and at his mother’s suggestion, eventually applied for membership. The thought was that this would help him become a better team player and help him grow into his role as a hero. Hal didn’t care for the idea that his son should join the Titans, but Carol reminded Hal of all the good the Justice League did for him and it was hard for him to debate it.
Now, Marty tries to live up to the example his parents and the other heroes before him have set. He’s not the greatest Green Lantern… Yet.

Blackness. That was what Marty saw. His mind struggled for focus. He knew he wasn’t dead. Memory flooded back to him and Green Lantern lifted his face off the ground. He’d been hit harder than that, he told himself, though he was hard pressed to remember when. Marty heard unintelligible ranting. Too far out for the ring to translate yet.
Green Lantern staggered back to his feet and checked himself over. He was convinced he was mostly intact. As Sinestro approached, Marty’s ring started to translate. “Do you know who I am, boy? I was once the greatest Green Lantern this universe ever knew. Until your father took it all away from me. I am going to deliver your corpse to him as a message.”
Yellow constructs flew from the mad man’s ring. Various shapes and sizes of death hurled toward Marty. He focused his will into the ring, asking its emerald energies to give life to his thoughts. Marty held out his fist and released multiple constructs to intercept Sinestro’s own. “You know, the way I hear it, you betrayed everything the Corps stand for. You forgot your Oath. My father didn’t do anything other than shed light on your corruption, you pompous ass.” More constructs released from Marty’s ring now. Robots, fighter jets, and constructs of Lanterns and Titans all swarmed Sinestro.
There was screaming and Marty’s constructs exploded. Sinestro flew towards him. “The Corps betrayed me! The Oath was betrayed by those damned Guardians.” The energy from Sinestro’s Quardian ring pushed against Marty’s own Oan ring. They came closer and closer together in the vacuum. Marty’s will strained under the force of Sinestro’s. There would be no second chances here. Marty pushed harder and felt something in his opponent’s weapon give. He smirked. “Let me remind you of your Oath.”
“In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape my Sight. Let Those who Worship Evil’s Might, Beware my Power. Green Lantern’s Light!” Emerald light discharged from Marty’s ring as his chanted the oath. Sinestro’s ring cracked and finally gave. There was a flash of light and Sinestro floated back a bit, his body beginning to disassemble. “Hm. You’ll do, boy.” Seconds later, Sinestro was completely gone.
“Ring, what was that?”
“Detecting a code 1963: Subject escaped into an interdimensional vortex. Recommend immediate contact with Guardians of the Universe.”
“Yeah… Take me to Oa.”
