May simply stepped back and allowed the siblings to meet. May had been preparing for this for awhile but had no idea how it'd go. She could be indifferent, angry or cordial. So far things seemed to be ok. As soon as he stepped forward she hugged him. As Laura wrapped her arms around Ed May held a hand up to stop the doctor and the orderly.
"May Day was telling me you're coming along nicely. That you might get a try out for the X-Men soon. I'm sorry to talk about combat so much. It's kind of all our family really has. Well that and all that nonsense May insists on covering hey body with."
"Mom...."
"I keep saying she'll never find a decent guy with all that crap on her body. You don't have anything like that do you?"
While Laura may have once been rather 'promiscuous' she also didn't want her daughter living the same life. She wanted her to settle down and be happy like she had been with her father. Yes Laura never did settle down, but she wanted to. Laura let go of Ed and sat down at a table, motioning for Ed and May to sit down on the other side. May nodded her head to Ed and sat down across from her mother.
"So May tells me her training squad is undefeated thanks to you. Still not sure about naming it after me."
May never actually admitted that the Squad was named after her mom. Yes the higher ups and other teachers knew. Laura was the only 'Talon' who had been an X-Man. Plus she was one of the best, in May's opinion.

Edward wasn't expecting the hug quite so soon after meeting her, so he was taken slightly by surprise as Laura threw her arms around him. Still, after a moment of brief hesitation, he moved his arms around her and patted her gently on the back. It was definitely weird meeting new family. But, out of all the meetings so far, this was probably the one that had gone down with the least amount of drama. No trauma, no jails, or at least, nothing that legally constituted a jail. Just him meeting his sister and hugging her. While she was chained to the wall and had metal sealed over her hands and in a hospital for unstable people. It was probably best to try and ignore that part.
A genuine smile stretched over his face as he heard Laura being all passive-aggressive and motherly towards May. It was honestly something of a joy to hear May, who had set herself up as the adult authority figure in his life, be criticised herself. But, as fun as it was to leave those two to argue, Edward supposed he really should answer some of Laura's questions. "She says that?" He asked, trying to inject a fair bit of humour into his voice. He shot May a look. "I wouldn't mind it if she said some of that to me, occasionally." To be fair to her, May was somewhat liberal with praise, it's just that praise usually came after telling him he was done with a training exercise, and right before she told him they were starting a new one in two minutes. She had told him about the X-Men, however. He wasn't sure if he felt all that ready, but he wouldn't complain.
"I'm clean," He said, when she asked about that, trying his hardest not to grin too widely at May's expense. Well, maybe he wasn't trying that hard. Honestly, he thought the tattoos suited May. He'd never seen her without them, to be fair, but he felt like the blue hair and the tattoos and the piercings were just part of her. It'd be weird to see her without metal, dye and ink. Even if he did wish she'd occasionally wear more so he didn't have to see quite so many tattoos and piercings. Although it didn't seem like May was looking for a good guy. Maybe she was hoping that enough guys who weren't total scumbags would equate to one good guy.
"We haven't really been against much to be defeated by," He said honestly, but he was smiling at the due to him part. Still, May could feel free to pass this sort of encouragement onto him directly. And as Laura said that, he shrugs. "I can't think of many better people to name it after." He could be charming when he put in the effort.

May sort of ignored his comment about not giving him enough credit. Yes, he really didn't get a lot of credit from her, at least to his face. She might not ever admit it but she was also extremely proud of him. He would add a new level of honor to the family name. Perhaps honor that the name had been lacking lately. Between Laura going rogue, Akihiro being Akihiro and May honestly questioned Mari at times. Plus May hadn't done a whole lot to earn honor. Most good things she'd done were behind a mask and as Spider-Girl. Then again May had also agreed to all sorts of procedures in order to fight her mom, so it wasn't like she was that honorable.
"I wouldn't worry about it Ed. She is Logan's granddaughter after all. She only fights and trains those who are worthy."
It wasn't inaccurate. May didn't waste her time with weak students. She only trained those who would actually be worth it. Her squad was a reflection of her and if they failed she had failed. May didn't like failing and could count on one hand the times she had actually failed at something. She was raised to be a fighter and a champion.
"That is true. The other squads can't hold a candle to us."
"She teaches by fear doesn't she?"
"Fear is a strong word. Instead I teach them to be concerned about failing and what could really happen when you lose a fight."
"Word of advice Ed, her right ankle is stiff. Likely some mistake in the procedure. Problem was I didn't even understand it till it was too late. Does she still like to go for the head?"
May watched them talk back and forth, feeling like a third wheel. Part of her didn't like this lack of attention but she kept it in check. She'd hook up with someone later tonight and get the attention she wanted. She never understood her desire for attention. She had enough as a child, although perhaps it was too much. But she pushed that thought from her mind. She didn't like examining herself, it became too much for her.
"I don't always go for the head."

It was definitely weird to think about May being Logan's granddaughter. Edward was so used to viewing her as some sort of older family member, an aunt or, if he was feeling especially sentimental, an older sister. So somebody reminding him that she was, in fact, the granddaughter of his father was odd, to say the least. Not that he thought being her uncle gave him any kind of authority over her. She'd crack his skull if he tried. And, another strange thought he sometimes had, was that May had known his father infinitely more than he had done. All he'd known of his dad was news footage, pictures, and what rare bits of information his mother had told him. May had known him. Spent time with him. Presumably trained with him and everything like that. Part of Edward had hoped he'd get to do that in America, but his dad had gone missing before he'd arrived and hadn't been seen since. He had no idea about what his dad felt about things like worthiness. But he still nodded at what Laura said and snorted like it was accurate and funny.
"She teaches by reminding you that if you screw up, she'll hurt you," Edward commented, turning to smile at May as she denied it, "And most of the time she demonstrates it on somebody so we're all sure it'll hurt." And for reasons of convenience, he tended to be the one getting ribs cracked or a broken nose. Because healing was just brilliant, wasn't it? Edward knew that May's teaching was brutal, cruel, probably illegal, but he couldn't deny it was effective. She had him far more obedient than any teacher ever had before. He still talked back, of course, and he wasn't always an enthusiastic pupil, but he wouldn't think of slacking off or bunking off one of May's training sessions.
Edward nodded with genuine interest as Laura told him about May's weaknesses. A stiff ankle? There was more metal there than he liked, but he could still take advantage of that. He knew that if he ever wanted to lose the nickname of 'Pup' he was going to have to beat May in a fight. Not just stand up to, not just keep getting up, but actually claim the upper hand, at least for a short while. And considering she was tougher, had metal claws and was inexplicably fast, he had very few advantages over her. He could heal much faster and possible better than she could, but that wasn't much help except for prolonging her beating the crap out of him.
As May said that, Edward snorted and patted her on the shoulder. "You kind of do," He pointed out. Not that he was immune to focussing on one area. As Kayleigh would tell, he had a tendency to work the ribs in a fight. He wasn't sure May had worked that out yet. "What else?" He asked Laura, trying to not sound too eager.

"Oh whatever. I teach by way of ensuring that the students know what can happen should they fail. So now they know, fail and you get hurt. But you can't argue with results."
She said trying to defend herself. She knew she was a terrible teacher. Hell the fact she hadn't been fired yet surprised her as much as anyone else. However at the same time she also knew that perhaps they needed her kind of teaching. They hadn't been attacked in years and that made May nervous. It seemed all their former enemies were gone. But she also knew it was only a matter of time before a new threat popped up, it always did. When that threat did come up her squad would be ready to take it out.
'Yes yes May Day, you're the best. No one's a better trainer than you.'
"Finally you're making sense ma."
She said with a laugh. Laura shook her head and then turned her attention back to Ed. So he wanted to know all of May's secrets. Interesting.
'Well up close you can lessen the effectiveness of her Spidey-sense. It's still there, just takes away reaction times.'
"If your best bet is getting close to me you've already lost Pup. Plus I'd like to get some cousins eventually. Then I'd have an angry Kayleigh to deal with for taking off your 'member'.
She said with a laugh. Would she feel bad cutting that off? Of course. Would she do that in order to win a fight where anything goes? Absolutely. A fight was a fight and a win was a win. She often taught her students to disregard things like rules and ethics. If the other person wanted you dead you couldn't waste your time concerning yourself with ethics. WHile she didn't condone killing, she also understood that sometimes there was no other option, like with the Alternate May.
"Kayleigh? Kayleigh? oh, Tweety, bird girl. So you two are a thing."
"Hawkgirl and they won't admit it. It's cute really."

"I'm honestly not sure how you're still a teacher," Edward said to May, "I'm pretty sure you've broken every rule in the book. Including the pupil-shagging." There were rumours around Jean Grey, and if a fifth of them were true, May had broken that rule pretty thoroughly. Of course, Edward had a habit of punching people who bragged about it, but May didn't need to know that. Not to mention how she looked at a couple of members of their team., "Not that you're not good." He commented, because he didn't want May to feel attacked. It was all well and good to snark at her, but she should know that, despite everything, he was happy to have her as a teacher. Other than the rudiments of street fighting, there wasn't much other than stripping his own mother could have taught him, and he was happy to have the chance to bond with a family member like that.
Edward leant back on his chair, his hand still on May's shoulder. He was practically slouching by this point. "Right, close up," He murmured, thinking that through in his head. He had better reach than May did, which usually meant staying away was smart. But she could usually close any gap between them in a matter of seconds. Still, her senses weren't the big issue. The big issue was that she was far more skilled and far harder to hurt than he was. He'd had around nine years of experience in street fighting, but he'd spent his life being superior in pretty much every way to the people he fought. Stronger, faster, tougher and much harder to keep down. He'd rarely had even fights. Since he'd come to America, May had kicked the concept of an even fight out of him. Repeatedly.
As May said that, Edward shot her a faintly horrified look. "Stay away from my member!" He said defensively, moving a hand over his crotch. He was fairly sure May wouldn't amputate that. She had standards, surely. And then his expression turned into a scowl. "She told you about Kayleigh!?" He asked Laura, sounding just slightly bothered by that. "Me and Kayleigh aren't doing it! We're friends! We don't get naked." He sounded a bit sulky there.

The conversation seemed to go on for awhile. May didn't say much, just watched the two siblings converse. The meeting wasn't about her anyways. The meeting was about these two. It was about her doing her best to try and restore the family. She'd work on Mari next and then work on finding Grandpa Logan. She knew it would be difficult since if he didn't want to be found he wouldn't be found. But that was fine with her. She felt she might have the best shot at it.
It was about an hour later when the doctor informed them that their visiting session was over. May noticed Laura seem to become agitated and could hear the soldiers outside ready their guns.
"We'll come back again mom. I have a class to teach in a bit anyways."
She seemed to calm slightly.
'Your job is important May Day. So stop sleeping with your students. But fine, come here.'
"I don't sleep with my students. It's a stupid rumor."
She said hugging her mom before Laura hugged Ed and the two were escorted out of the room. May ignored the doctor and turned to Ed.
"C'mon Pup, I did promise you lunch after all."
She said with a smile. She could hear the doctor trying to get her attention and ignored him. She already knew what he was going to say and didn't want Ed to hear it. They'd just met and he didn't need that extra worry. May could see it though. Her mom wasn't any better, this was just a good day. This time next month she'd likely be locked up again, Ben's brithday. That, May's birthday and the Battle Anniversary were always her terrible days. But on her last birthday she didn't kill anyone so that was a plus.
May walked through the labyrinth of hallways, using memories and scent to find the cafeteria. Either way she was enjoying herself with Ed. They rarely got a lot of time to spend together just as family. Usually if they were together it was training of some sort.
"So what'd ya think about your sister? Don't worry, her room is sound proof."
She knew she could've easily used the word cell and it'd be just as accurate. She had killed a lot of people and her sanity was often questioned. WHile she was offended she had trouble denying it.

Edward allowed himself to get pretty engrossed in the conversation in a way he didn't with most people. There was still plenty of gentle teasing and back-and-forth with May, but more than anything else he was getting to know as much about his family as possible, asking about May when she was younger, asking about his father. He even brought up Daken more than once. While he knew May could answer most of the questions he had about family, they didn't get that much time alone together, and there was just something about hearing Laura talk about it that fascinated him. Sure, he had a family who were strange, dead, insane, traumatised and often dangerous, and he didn't know half of it, but he enjoyed talking about them far more than he liked to admit.
Edward almost groaned as they were told that the visiting time was over. Considering they'd been in a small room, with little to do, surrounded by doctors and men with guns, Edward was surprised at how quickly the time had passed. Usually, in this situation, he'd have ended up climbing the walls in minutes. He didn't grill with any of those things well most of the time. But apparently the company and the conversation had made the time fly. Edward entertained a fantasy of grabbing the doctor and knocking him out, continuing their conversation. He knew that was a terrible idea if he didn't want to end up as yet another patient. He noticed Laura getting restless, and looked to May for advice. This was where he wasn't so good.
Thankfully, May calmed Laura down before the soldiers learnt what a superpowered adamantium knuckle to the face felt like, and Edward breathed a slight sigh of relief. Now that the situation was averted, Edward felt like it was okay to snort as May said it was just a rumour. "Hell of a widespread rumour," He muttered, shooting a grin at May, "It'll probably spread to Isaac pretty soon." He was almost definitely going to get a smack for that. He hugged Laura as they said their goodbyes, squeezing her pretty tight. "See you, Laura." He said, and then followed May out.
He thought about stopping May as the doctor tried to talk to them, but she didn't seem in the mood to stop and he didn't have a wrecking ball to hit her with, so he just shrugged at the doctor with a mixture of helplessness and amusement as he followed her out. "I like her," Edward said, although if he were honest, he'd have probably liked any family that presented themselves. "She seems nice. Like you, but wearing an entire shirt and less likely to punch me in the face."

She glared at Ed as she made the comment about her allegedly sleeping around. Sure, she might WANT to sleep around and may have made out with a student or two. But she had yet to actually sleep with any. Of course right now there were two at the top of her list and they just happened to be on her squad. However that shouldn't be held against her. She was a sexually active woman, yes the age was a concern but given age of consent it was legal.
"Make all the jokes you want Pup. It'll only get worse wither each one."
She knew some of the rumors about her. She also knew none of them were flattering. Sure the ones about her being extremely rough with her students were mostly started by her, plus they were true so she couldn't exactly be upset about them. However the ones about her love life were more concerning. Did people really spend that much time talking about her love life? Sure she was attractive and promiscuous, but still.
"Again with the shirt. Since when do you have an issue with my choice of clothing?"
She asked shaking her head. He always seemed to give her crap for her clothes. It could be a wide variety of reasons really. Whether it was the anime themed clothing or the fact it had all seen better days and therefore was revealing. She got sick of always buying new clothes only to have them get damaged.
"Besides, where do you think I got my temper from? I'm downright sweet and innocent compared to her. Well, how she was before...this."
She said before motioning towards the hospital. As they walked she glanced at a few rooms. Some were people like her mom. Good people who'd seen too much. Others were just people who'd lose too much and couldn't cope. She felt pity for them all and hoped to one day work here. She left the Mental Ward and entered the cafeteria.
"Here we are Pup."

Edward made sure to avoid looking at May as he practically felt the glare burning a hole in his cheek. He was probably going to pay for that next time he had a training session, and he doubted taking a week off school meant he could get away with skipping all the training. Plus Kayleigh would probably kill him if he didn't show. "Well if I'm damned, might as well make the most of it," He muttered wryly, but he knew that wasn't true. May would almost definitely make him regret each one more than the one before it, and he wanted to get through the week with at least some of his ribs intact. He doubted most of the rumours were true, but, as much as he had a habit of knocking people who spread them out, he couldn't discount them all.
"I'm just not used to being the only member of a family who doesn't flash their bra around," He said, and then paused. "Okay, that one sounded less weird in my head." It was true that, despite tending to buy either long-sleeve button-ups or fairly loose t-shirts, his clothes also had a habit of getting damaged. And it was also true that a lot of them ended up a lot more revealing than intended, but at least he didn't usually keep wearing them when they were...that bad. Although he'd probably have a lot more money if he did.
"Seriously?" He asked her, "She made you look like a nice person. What did she do for training, whip you?" He knew that May pulled a lot of punches when they trained, and he was thankful for that. Sure, she had no qualms battering him around, but he'd seen...well, technically her, at maximum capacity, and it had been a curb stomp.
He followed her into the canteen, and looked around. Honestly, when she'd offered to buy him lunch, he hadn't quite pictured this, but she was paying, so he didn't really have grounds to comment. It seemed nice, though. He made his way to a table. "What are we having?" He asked

"What? I got sick of constantly throwing clothes away because they get damaged. It gets to the point eventually where I'm just wasting money. So I figure just work with it."
She said, trying to defend herself. She didn't know why she was suddenly trying so hard to defend herself. She was an adult and his superior. Why did she need to defend herself to him? Then again he was really her only family that she got along with. So she wanted to keep things good. of course seeing her ripe her duplicate's heart and other organs out should've scared him off and that didn't. Of course things had been awkward between the two of them ever since. They were getting better though.
"Whip me? No....no...."
She said shaking her head. Her mind went back to her training when she was his age and younger. It didn't go well, but she was a massive warrior. She was second to only a select few of combatants. Of course if she was really honest with herself she was probably second or third to a lot of people.
"She was just intense and didn't pull back. Well until dad caught her doing that and stepped in. They never did agree on my training. Grandpa, your dad, usually took over. Mostly because no one would argue with him."
She said with a laugh. She sat down at the table with him and smiled a bit. She also just realized she'd never spent any time outside the school with him. It was something she really she needed to remedy. Right now was her beginning to fix that.
"Well their alfredo is delicious, otherwise their cranberry and turkey club isn't bad either. It's one thing I like about this hospital. There's so many high profile patients and visitors that they want to keep us happy. I only know two people here though. Mom and then Tony Rogers, childhood friend. But he's an entirely different topic."
