Give up, we needed the c o m p a n y Let's drink to your health A peek around the corner nearly got the raven haired woman shot in the face. She turned her head to see where the blue paintball had splattered on the wooden wall behind her that was used for cover. Tessa had to admit, this had to be the longest game of paintball she had ever played. She played what some her age might call a child’s game, because it was as close as she could come to a battle scenario when she didn’t have anything else to do. She didn’t have a training facility like some of the superhero teams were reported to have, or even that she had while in the Army. She had been able to find a group of other vets who didn’t mind that she took the game more seriously than most. Some of were just as serious about it as her. A couple had joined for therapy, but had stayed on after their shrinks said they could stop. Her team was nearly undefeated. They had once gone up against another group of vets. Half way through, one of their players had gotten lucky and found Tessa from the rear in her sniper’s nest and took her out. She watched the rest of the game from her perch, realizing that the other team had probably served together. The other team won that one, but both went out for drinks together. That night ended in her and a guy named Ken sharing his bed that night. Tessa brought herself back to the present. She needed to focus because the other girl was good...really good. She needed to move, get a new position and see if she could get a bead on the other girl. She looked at the last place she knew the girl to be after a few movements. Got her she thought as she moved towards the girl, bringing her air gun up to bare as she continued to move forward. Suddenly, she pulled the trigger.
NOTES: Okay so we talked about them both shooting at the same time and hitting at the same time...making it a tie win. You can hit Tessa anywhere you want lol. |

Aileen had really gotten too used to the Avengers lifestyle recently. She was too used to being able to fill in her days with sparring with somebody or superheroics or even just hanging around the Avengers Tower with somebody. It wasn't like she'd become detached from normal life or anything. She still mostly slept in her own bed, did normal person things, and all the usual stuff, it was just she'd had a lot more to do recently, and as such, she hadn't had to entertain herself for a while. So today, when all three of her teammates were busy with...something or other, she found herself stuck for something to do, and very, very bored. She'd gone grocery shopping, talked to some lovestruck fanboy, done her usual exercise routine, gone an extra mile while running...and it had only been midday. So, despairing, she'd picked something to do for the day that she'd be good at. Something that played to her strengths. She was spending the day shooting fourteen year-olds with a paintball gun. She could probably justify it as training.
She hadn't quite been expecting a game as intense as what she'd gotten. She'd been expecting on getting mostly kids who were there with parents who didn't really care. Easy pickings, but something to practice shooting at. And they weren't seriously getting hurt, which was good. Maybe she'd been expecting some older kids who might be okay shots and possibly even a couple of adults who took the game way too seriously, but nothing terribly challenging. Instead, she'd gotten a lot of those people on her team, but they were facing a group who acted almost like a military unit. A load of adults who were good shots, disciplined and knew what they were doing. Of course, she knew as well, and she was probably a better sharpshooter than any of them. True, her main weapon was the bow, but she could handle guns, whether real or paintball perfectly capably. She kept her distance mainly, taking shots from afar and avoiding close confrontation. But one girl on the other team was just plain better than the others. Fired better, hid better and knew when to move. Several times, Aileen had thought she'd been guaranteed a hit and had missed at the last second.
Aileen continued to almost prowl through the field. This was by far the longest she'd played paintball, and it'd been just her and this girl for what, an hour? The rest of their teams had been gotten out quickly enough, but the two of them had been pretty evenly matched. They'd both had close calls, both gotten good shots. This was what Aileen was used to, however. Working on her own, no need to worry about a team. And then suddenly the other girl was right in her sights. She levelled her gun at the girl's chest, just a tiny bit spiteful, and then fired. As soon as her finger left the trigger and she was prepared to celebrate, she felt a shot smack into her helmet. It normally wouldn't count, but none of the referees were looking, and she had to count that after the performance the other girl had given. It was almost funny, really. Equally matched and then shot each other at the same time. Nearly balanced out the disappointment. "Good game," She said, walking towards the other girl, her hand out for a shake, "And sorry about your boob."

Give up, we needed the c o m p a n y Let's drink to your health Tessa felt the impact. She may not bruise the next day, but she still felt the hit. She knew it hit her chest, but she hadn’t looked down yet. She took the other girl’s hand and shook it, only looking down at her boobs when they were mentioned. Her head jerked back up, looking at the other girl coolly for a moment before breaking into a grin. ”Don’t sweat it. It was a great match. Haven’t been up against someone like you since...well opposing snipers in the Army.” She dropped the other girl’s hand before it because awkward and began unzipping her jacket. She tugged it off, revealing her white tank top under it. She rather liked this girl. Maybe it was just because she could shoot, but maybe there was also more to it. ”Want to grab something to eat? I know this great shawarma place. I’m Tessa by the way,” she said, still smiling. She couldn’t help it. Something about this girl.

Aileen was slightly worried that the other girl was going to be a bad loser, all haughty and pissed off that she hadn't one, but then she broke out into a grin that nearly made Aileen sigh with relief. It was a pretty grin as well. She returned the shake, unable to hide a smile when she saw the girl look down at her chest. It had been one hell of a good shot. She grinned at the compliment as well, it was genuinely sweet. "Thanks," She said brightly, "I'm not Army, but I guess I'm a sniper?" Well she did something like that for the Avengers, anyway. That the other girl would hopefully realise when they properly uncovered their heads.
"And you're easily the best person I've ever played in paintball," Aileen said, returning the compliment, "I'm used to twelve year olds, and you and your team were uh, kind of awesome." They definitely shot like they were too good for paintball. She let her hand drop, and when the other girl unzipped her jacket, both of Aileen's hands went to her mouth. "You weren't even wearing body armour?" She asked, "Oh my god, your poor boob." Well, at least the girl had to be wearing a bra. If Aileen had known she wasn't wearing armour, she'd have gone for a shoulder shot. But then she grinned again. "If you need anyone to pat it better, just let me know." She winked, but deliberately went over the top. Just because she flirted, didn't mean it had to be serious.
"Uh....sure," Aileen said with surprise, "Never been out to eat with an opponent before. But it should be fun." She nodded and started to make her way out of the arena, but paused. "What's shawarma?"
