She couldn't help but laugh. She didn't really understand the reason behind Sugar. It wasn't that deep or complicated. Issac hated the name so therefore she loved it, simple. She was often rather petty like that, going the simple route for the sake of annoying people. She also knew that it likely had to do with keeping people at arm's length.
"Not too much more based on what I'm seeing. A hot chick that can fight."
She said with a smirk. She avoided the punching bag but sure enough her feet connected with Becca's legs. If she hadn't been in her 'Warhead' mode May likely would've sent her cartwheeling. But as it stood she simply knocked her down a bit. But May would get her yet. May managed to avoid her kick as best she could but felt the kick hit her thigh instead. She managed to roll with it though and use the momentum Becca had just granted her to swing around on her side and try to drive her heel into Becca's nose.
She was a solid fighter, but she needed work. She relied too much on cheap tactics and was forced to simply react instead of acting and taking control. Sure she had the fire so that likely helped. However May was pretty good at dealing with heat and being burned. She knew she'd heal so it didn't make sense to fret over all of the injuries. She felt the kick give her a slight on set of a charlie horse but also knew it'd pass quickly.

While it wasn't as bad as being called a 'spoiled brat', and May was at least acknowledging something about her, Becca didn't like being referred to as 'a hot chick that can fight'. It just felt too much like the times people had snickered as they'd joked that she had another thing - "oops, two more things", going for her than her dad's money. And well, Becca wasn't too fond of thinking about that.
Becca took some satisfaction and smirked as her foot took May in the thigh. She'd been aiming to knock her knee back, sure, but the thigh worked, and she ended up not kicking adamantium head on. She had no idea really how tough her 'Warhead mode' made her, but she was willing to bet that she wasn't nearly as durable as May, and that her foot wouldn't do to well in an impact between the two. Her happiness at kicking May all but went as May's heel smashed into her face and, even through the toughness and somewhat deadening aspect of Warhead mode, Becca felt her nose shatter for the second time that day. The blood was evaporating before it even left her nose, and the small was making her sick, but at least it was already healing. The bones were fusing, the blood was stopping. It was a shame she was going to have to cut that short.
"Isn't that what you are?" She asked, deciding to buy herself some time before what she had planned - let her nose heal as much as it could. "A pair of tits that can throw a punch?" She was definitely going to regret that. If May didn't make her pay, Edward or Kayleigh almost definitely would. However, she decided against any more comments that she'd end up regretting later. She'd had enough time.
While it took some effort for her to activate Warhead mode, it took her very little to switch it off. And when she switched it off, something interesting happened. The detonation could range from tiny to building-shattering, and Becca had been in Warhead mode for twenty, thirty seconds. More than enough to throw a normal person across a room and into a wall with some serious whiplash to boot, so she hoped it'd at least take May out for a few seconds.
After the detonation, she took a couple of seconds to get back her breath, and then climbed shakily to her feet. She started to try and sprint for the door again, ignoring all the pained signals her body was sending her.

"Oh I like to think I'm more of a butt as well. But no. I am a highly trained killing machine who if she wanted would have you in pieces on the floor and have an awkward phone call to make." She said with a smirk. Yes she had claws but she was trying to not use them for that. She could have cut Becca and left her to bleed, assuming she'd heal. She had no desire to do that just yet. However when it came to their graduation test, all bets were off and it was everyone for themselves. She'd made that clear, she hoped. That the graduation test was a scenario of her choosing with no rules. Then Becca powered down. It was impressive, she liked it. Yes it caused her pain, but it would also send May flying, which it did. Yes her skin was burned and she flew about 4 feet, twisting through the air before using her claws to dig into the floor and slow her flight. "Clever girl...." Then she saw Becca make a break for the door. SHe was hurting but trying to ignore it. She liked it. She fired two webs on either side of the door and managed to slingshot herself at the door. She landed just above the door and smirked lightly. "Good job Brule, you're in." She said dropping down and sighing. Her wounds were already healing, her clothes had seen better days. She walked over to her duffel bag and pulled out a cigar, lighting it before throwing the bag to Becca. Inside was her Talon suit. She looked at her with a smile, cigar still in her mouth. "Don't let me down."

Becca wasn't about to go into the specifics of hers and May's body anytime, let alone in a situation like this, where pretty much any second could land her in hospital. She knew that May wasn't being as brutal as she could be. She'd never actually seen her in action, but she'd heard the rumours and, as much as she liked to think she was doing well, she knew May was going easy on her. At the threat, she blanched just a little. It was probably idle, she knew; May wouldn't dare kill her and piss off her dad or the Future Foundation, but to hear somebody threaten her like that was...well, it was a new experience. "You wouldn't," She hissed.
Becca had to admit that it was satisfying to watch May get thrown back by the explosion. She'd never tested it on an actual person before, not since what had happened with her Krav Maga tutor. She'd tried it out on things around the house in controlled conditions, of course, but that wasn't quite the same as watching somebody who'd been trying to hurt her get actually get somewhat hurt because of it.
However, Becca had probably spent too long enjoying her small victory, as before she made it to the door, May was there, looking ready to pounce on her, and Becca knew that this time, she wouldn't stand a chance. Naked, no space between them, and she wasn't sure she had the energy or the ability for another detonation. She'd come so close to the door, and it looked like now May was going to beat her down.
So she was actually shocked to hear those words come out of her mouth. "What?" She asked, looking slightly stunned, "I'm in?" Sure, it wouldn't be all fun and games being part of Jean Grey's toughest training squad, but, after she'd tried so hard to get onto a team, she was elated. It almost distracted her from the pain shooting through parts of her body. She caught the bag and looked in it, and when she saw the suit, she pulled it out and squirmed into it almost instantly. It was necessary, sure, but she didn't want to spend any more time naked around anyone than she had to. The suit fit her perfectly, to perfectly? "How did you get my...measurements?" She asked May, slightly suspiciously. The suit fit her like any tailored clothes did, and May had never been at her with a tape measure to know how tall she was, or what size clothes she needed. But she couldn't shake the grin from her face. "I'm seriously in?" She asked. "I won't let you down."

As Becca tried to call her bluff May simply shot back a wicked grin. The grin showed off the slightly more pronounced canine teeth her supposed species was known for. Whether or not they were a different species other than mutant was unclear. Most figured Romulus was making it up but it did explain things. Either way she wouldn't hesitate to kill Becca if need be. Of course given her personality the only time she would likely pose a threat was if she held her powers too long and was threatening to power down in a crowd. But May had read up on her and figured she'd never willingly do that. Either way May wouldn't leave her in pieces, just one quick stab or throat slice would do the trick. She didn't know the extent of her healing but knew it was something to look into.
May couldn't help but laugh at Becca's surprise. So far that was the same reaction everyone had. But at the same time they'd all been willing to keep going. Hell Isaac had a broken arm, Kayleigh had her wings pinned at an awkward angle and Edward had some glass imbedded in his side. She had a strong group going, she just needed some sort of psychic to round out her team and they'd be set.
"You're in Brule, just like that."
May simply removed what was left of her shirt and grabbed a replacement she'd brought and threw that on. She didn't really same to care about what Becca might think. After all they were just two women in private, not like the front lawn, which she had done a couple times.
"I have a very sneaky way to get your measurements. You see when you were sleeping I snuck around and.....had an old acquaintance of your mom's call and ask for me. You know Danny McCoy, Imp?"
She figured she might know him as either an Avenger, X-Man or musician. Or more accurately all of the crap he went through and all the accusations he dealt with.
"They performed at some awards show together and apparently he made an impression, sampled dome of her work or something. I don't know, honestly I stopped paying attention once he said he knew her. She gave me a rough idea of your measurements and we winged it. If it needs to be adjusted let me know."
She said crossing her arms and leaning against the wall. She took the cigar out of her mouth and exhaled a few smoke rings and proceeded to look Becca up and down.
"We're going to need to do a full work up on your powers. We need to figure out your limits. Like healing for example, what's your limit do you know?"

Becca couldn't help but flinch away from May's teeth. It was unnatural, and she was saying that as somebody who ignited periodically and went to a school full of supernatural people. People just weren't supposed to have teeth like that. Still, she felt like May was making an empty threat. If it came down to a clash between Jean Grey and the Future Foundation, Becca was pretty sure she knew who would win. And if May seriously hurt her, that was what it would come down to. Sure, leaving in the middle of the night had led to some friction between her and her parents, but that didn't mean they'd be okay with her being hurt.
A warm sense of pride ran through Becca as she processed what May said. She was in. She was a Talon. She was part of the toughest, most badass team at a school of people who could do things no human could. Sure, maybe it wasn't as cool as being a Teen Titan, like her dream, but it was still pretty good. It would definitely show the people who'd called her a spoiled brat. Maybe she wouldn't be great at showing up on time, or doing pointless exercises like suicide runs, but she'd still try hard to keep her place. "So like...what do I have to do now? Now that I'm in?" She was sure it wouldn't be all sunshine and daisies now.
"You....went into my room?" Becca asked. it was strange to think about. A room was like a private place, especially when she was sleeping, and to think about May poking through her stuff while she was just a few feet about was weird. Especially as there were some measurements she really didn't want May knowing, as convenient as they were with fitting into the suit. She ignored the stuff about Danny and her mom. She'd heard it before, and giving up her measurements sounded exactly like the sort of thing her mom would do.
"It fits perfectly," She admitted, rearranging the costume a bit. She was just happy to have clothes, especially as May whipped her shirt off, something that earned her a strange look from Becca. "You've actually found a shelf bra that doesn't look weird and fits. Congratulations." She hadn't really tested the limits of her powers before. "I just know that if I'm on fire, I heal."

She laughed lightly. She wanted to know what to do now. Well that was simple really. Not too complicated, but of course most people didn't like what would follow. It was really simple, she wanted to have the best squad and would make sure it stayed that way, by any means.
"Now you train, work out and do your best to ensure you're ready for any challenge. Your free time when you're not in classes or working with me will be spent working out or studying. You see I'm not just training a new generation of mutants like some. I on the other hand am training a new generation of X-Men. You have a hell of a legacy to live up to."
She said with a shrug as she puffed her cigar. She calmly watched her before bursting out laughing.
"No Brule. I mean sure I could easily get in and out of your room undetected if I really wanted to. But it was easier to have Danny ask your mom. He just needed to sober up long enough to make the call, that was the trickier part."
She said with a light chuckle. She pretty much ignored the comment about the bra and shrugged.
"Yeah, it's a matter of knowing where to shop. Remind me to give you the website later. It's where I get them for my Spider-Girl suit. But in the meantime we need to figure out your limits. It's important to know just what you can and can't heal from. Tomorrow we'll do it. Have you power up and then proceed to beat the hell out of you. Be sure you're rested."

While Becca was glad to be on the team, she didn't like the sound of spending all her free time working. Apart from anything else, exercising every day was probably bad for her. Plus, she actually liked being able to do stuff in her spare time. "Yeah," She said, "I'm not gonna be doing that /all/ the time." She probably wasn't in any place to be setting conditions, but, as glad as she was to be on the squad, and as much as she wanted it to stay that way, she wasn't just going to roll over and do whatever May wanted. "A few nights a week, sure, but I like my spare time." Besides, she knew Edward and Kayleigh didn't spend all their free time doing that. Maybe Isaac did, but he seemed like the sort to suck up to May. In more ways than one, if Becca's idea of how he really got onto the team was accurate.
Becca was relieved to hear that May hadn't been in her room while she slept, but she didn't like the sound of her mom giving away her measurements, although it sounded like the sort of thing she'd do. Becca just hoped she hadn't been too specific with certain things. "I'm gonna set up mouse traps in my room," She told May, "And bear traps. And probably an alarm as well." She liked her privacy, especially when she was sleeping. And despite everything she'd heard, she doubted May was quite as terrifying and badass as everyone said. Becca was sure she could get her dad to pay for a decent security system for her room. Enough to slow May down at least.
"That would actually come in helpful," She said. Especially to wear under things, it could be difficult. But then May said what they were gonna be doing tomorrow, and Becca gave a dismissive snort that didn't quite mask the underlying fear. That wouldn't happen, surely. It couldn't. "Fuck that," She said determinedly, trying to reinforce the snort, "I'm not gonna let you beat the hell out of me, testing or not." She had limits, and she wasn't about to volunteer to be beaten up. She hadn't had much of a choice just now, but she wasn't going to walk down to where May was waiting to hurt her. It was barbaric.

As she pretty much brushed off the training regiment May shook her head. This girl, Princess as Isaac fittingly called her, was going to be up for a very rude awakening. May wasn't going to allow someone, especially a student, to dictate what happened on her squad. This was her squad and her students would do what she told. She was used to a little rebellion at first, it always happened, teenagers.
"Well ya see here Brule, for starters you don't decide your course load, I do. Also there's a reason the Talons are the best squad here, we work at it. I won't settle for second best. If you can minimize training but still be a functioning and useful squad member then by all means. But the second you aren't and you're dragging MY team down, I step in. Then, well, make sure you're caught up on your shows since your free time will be gone."
She said with a smirk. She'd made that same threat to some of the others. Usually they opted against challenging her but occasionally they tried. Sure Ed might since he can heal but she had proven she can beat him to the level where his healing slows for working over time.
"Oh Brule, darling, that wasn't a suggestion. But if you want to fight back to get a better feel for it under realistic circumstances then go for it. But if you don't show up then I have to come find you, and I will find you. Then, well then we'll go ahead and test your healing anyways. I'd rather do it in a controlled environment like the Danger Room, but your room, the street, parents' house, doesn't matter to me. Been a long time since I talked to Johnny. Always had such a crush on him when I was younger."
She said with a light laugh. Sure she was mostly saying it because it would likely make her uncomfortable. But it wasn't exactly inaccurate either. She did have a crush on him when she was younger. Now, well she wasn't opposed to acting on it. But that wasn't likely to happen. Of course if presented with the opportunity she might not turn it down.
"So what'll it be Brule? Controlled conditions or by surprise?"

Already Becca was having doubts about being part of the Talons. Being part of a superhero team had been her dream ever since she'd realised she'd had powers, and she'd been crushed after the incident with the Titans, but now May was sucking all the fun out of it. She'd known it was going to be hard work, but May was acting like the drill sergeant from Hell. Not only did she want to spend ALL of Becca's free time on training, which Becca was pretty sure was unsafe, but she also wanted her to get the shit beaten out of her. A teacher couldn't do that to a pupil. It was illegal, surely. But Becca was leaning not to doubt May when she made a threat, so it looked like, unless she did something drastic, it would happen. "You know what?" Becca said, "I think I can go out, watch Game of Thrones and be better than Isaac at the same time. Edward spends half his time smoking, Kayleigh spends half of hers banging Ed and Isaac's not that hot shit. You really expect me to believe they spend all their time training?"
The idea of May stepping in to regulate her training was horrifying, if she was honest. This session, Becca had already had her nose broken, ended up naked, been thrown to the floor and practically feared for her life. If every day was like this, well, her parents might end up seeing her a lot sooner than they imagined. Still, she was tough. She was stubborn. People complained about it, but she'd always thought of it as one of her strengths. She wasn't just going to lay down and let May do whatever she wanted. She was going to fight. Of course, not actually physically if she could help it, but she wasn't going to roll over like Boy Candle had done.
But then May made her little speech, and Becca felt heat flaring in her cheeks. At least part of it was embarrassment at her nickname coupled with 'Darling' coming from somebody like May, but more of it was anger at the challenge and the threat. The just cocky way May assumed she was going to be able to hurt her. But Becca had a few cards of her own to play. Four of them, to be precise. "I won't be at my parents' house," She told May, lifting her chin, "But you are not going to beat me up. After all, I do have such caring family. Uncle Ben always hated it when I got hurt and, well, he's quite a lot bigger than you, May." There was an air of defiance to her, but she tried to make it sound innocent.

"So you assume that you're always better than Sugar, adorable. But alright, fair enough, just so long as you can keep up with the rest of the team. But thank you, I was beginning to think I was the only one that saw how the two of them were together. I mean it's quite obvious."
She said with a light laugh. Of course that laugh faded when Becca proceeded to tell her how Thing would end her. She laughed before simply staring at her. She had a cute smile on her face, the type someone has when they're watching a toddler try to do something adult like. When she was done she simply walked up to her and stared her in the face. The claws on her right hand came out and she raised them up.
"My claws can cut through his rock musculature like it was nothing."
Then with a quick swipe the 'T' logos on her collar were cut off and fell to the floor.
"Perhaps I was wrong, you're off the team. Maybe some other squad will take you in. I know Imp was contemplating a team of his own. He's much more laid back, that'd be more your style."
She said before taking a puff of her cigar and blowing the smoke in her face. She then turned and headed for the door. She took what was left of the cigar and extinguished it on her thigh. She stopped and glanced over her shoulder, shaking her head.
"I thought you could've been something, once you distance yourself from the Fantastic Four shadow you're stuck under. But I recommend joining a squad soon. Given your age, and no squad, you'd be out on your round apple ass. If you need a job let me know. I know some people who need an apprentice."
She said before walking out the door. She wouldn't let Becca decide her role on the team. Only May decided that, and if she was good at her job May would go along with her. May was walking down the alley, curious as to if Becca would follow after her, try and reason with her. If she truly wanted to be an X-Man May was the route to go. The others trained people, May trained X-Men.

Becca thought she'd won a point, that maybe she'd actually managed to hold her own in an argument against May. She though that maybe she'd get May to just ease off a bit, realise that some things weren't such a great idea. Which backfired heavily as May first of all went for the patronising smile, and then walked up to her, claws raised. Becca flinched, raising her hands to shield her head, but instead the claws cut through her collar, and Becca's face fell as she realised the Talons logo has been removed and the words "You're off the team," pounded through her head hollowly. May couldn't mean that, right?
She thought May was calling her bluff, trying to get her to agree to whatever she wanted. Pretend she's off the team, wait for her to break, profit. But the longer May went on, the more Becca came to realise that she was serious, and her expression grew gradually more hopeless. She really thought she'd stood a chance, that she'd done something good at Jean Grey, and then just as quickly as it had happened, she'd gone and fucked it up. May suggested Imp's team, but that wasn't what Becca wanted. She didn't want some second-place, almost as good team run by the teacher who wasn't quite as good as May. She wanted the Talons. The best. The gold. Becca pulled a face as smoke was blown at her, but didn't break her composure to wave it away, keeping as stony as she could.
After everything, after May's little speech at the end and her taunting offer of a job, Becca felt hot tears well up in her eyes and begin to splash down her cheeks. She'd almost had it, and then she'd gone and ruined it. But crying wasn't going to change May's mind. If anything, it'd just make things worse. So, blinking away the tears and picking up the Talon logos on the ground, Becca went after the older girl.
"May," She said, as loudly and clearly as she could. She knew she'd hear her. She knew what she was going to have to offer, but that didn't make her like it anymore. "You wanted to beat the crap out of me tomorrow, right? Well why wait? I'm right here and I don't have a date tonight, so why not just get it over with?" She paused. "Assuming I'm on the team."

It had worked, just as she figured it would. May had pegged her the first few sentences into her file. She'd heard about the 'Titans Incident' and while she knew just who had said it, he wasn't too far off. She was spoiled. She was used to getting her way. Things happened on her terms and her terms only. If she didn't like something she complained and people worked to fix it. May wouldn't allow that on her term. She'd encountered a few here and there since she started making a team. They didn't last long. Hell even Ed had a similar mindset at times. The reason he got away with it, is he proved himself. If it wasn't for people talking and Kay's fighting skills Ed would've easily been the squad leader.
As she left she heard Becca call after her. It had worked. She'd shown Becca she wouldn't bow to her and let her have her way. May stopped simply and listened, looking over her shoulder.
"Tomorrow. Danger Room at 3. As a faculty member and combat teacher it is my job to train you. As far as being on the team, you'll need to work to impress me. There's no room for divas on this team."
She said whistling calmly as she left the hallway and stepped into the elevator. As the doors closed she stared Becca down. May would never deny that there were many times that she was more animal than human. She knew it wasn't healthy but damn it was fun.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3:15 and May was casually walking through the hallway of the sub-basement to the Danger Room. Yes she was late, she was also purposely late. She wanted to see Becca's commitment. Give her time to think about everything and think it through. Of course at about 1 in the morning a book had been slipped under Becca's door. Sun Tzu's the Art of War. Inside was a simple note, 'Not all training is physical sweetheart'. The note had been typed to better hide identity.
May was wearing a simple pair of short black yoga pants that had been ripped, combat boots, a black sports bra with a tattered Bulma/DBZ shirt on top of it. Yes she knew her clothes were mostly terrible. They had all seen better days. But she tended to get into fights so her clothes usually ended up getting damaged. Of course there was her odd obsession with anime that some found weird. Of course most would never say it to her face, unless they were out of range.

Becca's stomach was churning. She'd been sat in the Danger Room for twenty minutes now, waiting for May to step through the door and hurt her. It was messed up. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair. Becca was still doubting that May could really do this, but she didn't want to risk asking and word getting back to May. Either she'd get kicked off the team again, or May would just make things five times worse for her. Becca wasn't very good with pain. Sure, she'd been able to just about take it yesterday, even if her nose snapping had been a uniquely unpleasant experience, but now it was going to be even worse today. May was presumably planning on testing her limits, which meant beating her until she couldn't stand, presumably. And it was going to be horrible.
May was late, and Becca had basically chewed her fingernails to the quick from anxiety. This waiting was just torturous. It was like waiting to be whipped for disobeying an order or something. She felt sick. She wanted to run, to get away. She wanted to call her parents and have them save her from the psychopathic bitch about to hurt her. But if she did that, she'd be off the team again, and it'd be just as bad all over again. Isaac would sneer at her, and she wouldn't be able to look at him without knowing just how smug he was that he'd done it and she hadn't. So she'd just have to wait and take whatever the goddamn whore was gonna aim at her.
By the time May actually bothered to show up, Becca had almost broken. It was too much, to wait for someone to come and hurt her. She was on the verge of rising, but as she saw May enter, she stayed sat down as her fear reached a whole new level. This short woman in anime clothes that barely covered her was going to hurt her so that she could join a superhero team, and she was her teacher. If it wasn't such a horrific situation it'd be hilarious from the ridiculousness.
"Me and my r-round apple ass are here," She told May, trying to be her usual stubborn and slightly defiant self, but her tone quavered. She couldn't help it. She herself was dressed somewhat more practically than May. Her Talons costume with the logos in the pocket, with a sports bra and panties underneath on the presumably likely chance it got damaged in the fight. Not that there'd be much of a fight. She knew she didn't stand a chance.

May could smell the nerves on Becca as soon as she got near the room. Becca was nervous, but she was there. May had half expected her to leave. She was honestly glad she hadn't, but she still wasn't impressed. Becca would need a lot of work if she was going to be a functioning team member, let alone on the team.
"So you are Brule, so you are."
She said calmly before going to the computer console and beginning to type. The lights dimmed and suddenly they were in what could best be described as an ancient Japanese dojo. Through the sliding door cherry blossom tress could be seen and incense could be smelled. A light breeze was rolling through, bringing with it the sounds of calm meditative chanting and a group somewhere practicing some form of martial arts.
"This is the same room I was trained in when it came to my healing factor. Now power up and we'll get started."
She said when she finished typing in the program. She then turned to Becca and waited patiently, bringing her fists up. She knew Becca wouldn't like this, and she didn't care. May was the one who'd have to punch fire. Sure May knew she should use a robot for this, but that'd be no fun.
"We already know once you power up any injuries already heal. So we'll start with basics. Punches and kicks at human level getting increasingly stronger. Then we'll potentially move on to cuts and broken bones. It's important to know exactly what you can take and heal from. That way you're less likely to hesitate when facing a threat."
She said calmly before swinging a right at her jaw. She had pulled her strength back a lot. She was punching at basic human levels right now. Essentially a real threat she'd likely encounter from most of the other squads.
