There had been reports of some rogue Lanterns taking over Edwards Airforce Base. Most agreed based on the quality and color of the constructs they were dealing with either an undiscovered group of Lanterns, some crazy tech or some powers. Either way they had access to Edwards Airforce Base and that was exceptionally dangerous. Someone was looking into the whole 'Undiscovered Lantern' angle. It had been theorized there were other energies and batteries out there, but it seemed a long shot.

SHIELD had first been deployed after the local police, SWAT and other military were destroyed. While they'd managed to corner unknown number of 'Lanterns' into a large hangar they couldn't get closer. That meant there was really only one other option and no one liked it.

'Pull back, we're sending in Task Force X.'

May had gotten the word and scrambled her team rather quickly. HuRTs had been pretty much disbanded with most rogue heroes taken care of. They'd pretty much taken up the old Suicide Squad position. May didn't like it but well, she owed them and they were paying her well to hunt down who they claimed were criminals. Plus with her mom in a federally funded hospital she was kind of stuck.

The jet seemed to manifest out of nowhere but just as it did several silver energy blasts came from the hangar and destroyed one of the engines. The back opened and the squad of six jumped out just as the jet crashed into what was left of a fighter jet. They all landed casually, well except for one how landed right on his face. May meanwhile landed calmly and walked up to the SHIELD agents who'd been behind one of the armored trucks.

"Who's in charge here?"

'I love it when she does this...'

"Wrong, I am."

She said before anyone could actually respond. She crossed her arms and began to examine the hangar. The hangar was lead lined and thick, her senses had nothing.

"Interesting. William Tell, you're with me. The rest of you begin surrounding the building. Diglet, you know what I want."

One of her men was actually capable of burrowing under ground. He had a variety of nicknames but that was her preferred one. She fired a web and pulled herself up to the roof. She didn't look to see if Tyler followed and frankly didn't care. She had a job to do and she wasn't going to wait for some SHIELD stooge who may or may not be dealing with ego issues currently.

Tyler was called in for a mission at Edwards Airforce Base by SHIELD , at first he showed little interest but things got interesting when the debriefing said that there were Rogue Lanterns at work. He was eager to see this and decided to go anyway, he had arrived a little later than most other agents but he was still in time for the fun. He jumped out of the helicopter and rolled on his feet as soon as he touched the ground. He stopped next to two SHIELD agents when he heard that the notorious Suicide Squad would be employed. He stood behind one of the armored trucks and waited for the Task Force to come so they could get started.

"Have you heard? They're sending in those freaks!"

It was one of the SHIELD agents who spoke and Tyler rolled his eyes, he didn't like the guy very much and found him to be pretty annoying mainly because Tyler had worked with him before and had little use in Tyler's eyes. "Will you shut up Jones you're making us all dumb." 

He turned around when the plane seemingly disappeared out of nowhere and when the energy blasts started to appear from the hangar he notched back his arrow and shot it through one of the small holes in the wall, he repeated this three more times when he noticed one of the Squad members landed right on his face. With an arrow still notched back and his face following the arrow's path to make sure that as soon as something moved he'd put an arrow in it he spoke,  "Look, they got a Jones too go say hi and look stupid together" 


Tyler examined the members of the squad closely following their body movement and immediately knew which one was the leader , she walked in the front and with confidence. When she spoke about being in charge he smirked a little , he didn't care who was in charge as he was on his mission , one of the perks of being a free-lancer. "Sure thing sweetheart, but you really don't want to be in charge of these idiots." He was amused by the nicknames she gave him and the guy from her team, usually it was Robin Hood but he saw more similarities with Tell besides the marksmanship William Tell was also well known for his defiance not unlike Tyler.

When May shot a web and pulled herself up he notched back an arrow and aimed it at the sky releasing it revealed a rope attachted to it , when the arrow went over the roof it turned into a claw that set itself firmly in the ground allowing Tyler to press the button that retracted the rope and pulling Tyler up along with it. Soon only the SHIELD agent's were left and could only look at how fast everyone was in place. "He knows my name is not Jones... Right?"

She looked at Tyler, the white eyes of her costume seeming to examine him. Of course her senses were taking him all in, reading him. He was always poised to attack, a warrior. She could tell by his stance and eyes he was taking everything in. Not the worst person to have with her on this mission, plus he was cute so that didn't hurt.

"Relax, you don't know me well enough to call me sweetheart. But then again it is early."

Once she was on the roof she began to examine it, looking for any weaknesses to get in. Down below her men and the other SHIELD agents were taking position. This wasn't the first time they'd run a mission similar to this. A target holed up in a secure building with no easy entrance. Luckily for them, she enjoyed the risk.

'Come in Spider-Girl. The military is beginning to scramble fighters to carpet bomb the airstrip if that hangar isn't secured. The clock is ticking, SHIELD wants them stopped.'

"Yeah, isn't this an issue for other Lanterns, or at least SWORD?"

'All intel points to no Lantern involvement of any kind.'

"Awww, always wanted to cause an intergalactic incident."

She said before signing off. She could never be sure if they'd broadcast her conversation on all channels or just her's. She glanced at Tyler before unleashing the top claws on both hands. She raised her hand, knowing her squad was paying attention.

"On my mark, unleash hell on the hangar. We want them scrambling and confused. This time though, try and keep some alive."

She lowered her hand as they all opened fire on the hangar.

"Stay close Legolas, and try not to hit me with an arrow, they're annoying to pull out."

Suddenly one of her men had grabbed a large SHIELD truck and thrown it at the door. It bounced off, but it would weaken it and distract them. Once it was in the air she drove one clawed hand down and quickly cut a large circle around them which began to wobble and slowly slide down.

"It's all about the element of surprise Katniss.....SURPRISE!"

She said before stomping on the disc the two were precarious standing on and falling down into the large open hangar. Of course the hangar could hold a blimp so finding all of them would be tough, provided they survived the fall. Of course she was prepared to catch him with a web if he panicked.

Tyler smirked at May's remark , he felt like this was going to be a fun night with plenty of action and he was going to work with this Spider-Girl. It was going to be an interesting mission with the Suicide Squad running around, Tyler was eager to see how they worked. He examined the positions everyone took and got ready, at any point all hell could break loose and Tyler prepared himself for that. He listened closely to the conversation , he had been connected to the channel they spoke one but he decided to just listen for  this once. There was plenty of time for smart mouthing later but this was a serious matter as these Lanterns could do some serious harm if he wasn't on his toes, not having a healing factor meant you had to be more careful.

"Allright Spidey, here's the deal I don't care who's boss you are or who your boss is. No one is the boss of me so you can give whatever orders you like and I'm sure someone gives a f*ck but I don't unless it makes sense to me. So don't feel offended when I do whatever I want it's nothing personal."


He winked as he heard her shout orders to her Squad with her claws extracted, this was going to be a hell of a night. As they all opened fire he put his mask in place untill only the area around the eyes became visible.

"Don't get in the way then, I never miss doll."

An explosion followed from the truck being thrown and Tyler prepared himself, his body language was remniscient of a soldier as his training took over and his eyes started to display a certain focus. "You use your claws to slice em up close and I pick them apart with my boy, as soon as things go south we circle around and switch the plan up... Good luck." 

As May stomped down and the both of them fell down it felt as if time slowed down for Tyler, he reached for another grappling arrow and shot it through the small hole. Most of the Lanterns were probably too busy with the firefight to notice the two of them but Tyler wanted some sort of advantage. As the grappling hook connected and straightened out Tyler pressed a button that released the bow from the line and wrapped his legs around it. Swinging around like a trapeze artist he shot an arrow at one Lantern who made him and dropped down behind a couple of boxes. "Spider...Claw thing, whatever you call yourself, come in I got the north-east corner will clear as soon as you're in position." He spoke into the ear-piece and hoped that she wasn't jumping into the action without thinking it through.

As they fell her senses began to take in everything. The movements, the points of light from whatever was producing their solid light weapons. She heard him fire a grappling hook and enjoyed the free fall for a bit longer before firing a web and swinging. As she swung she noticed a room had been built in the middle of the hangar, clearly meant they weren't using this hangar for aircraft. As she swung she let go and flew through the air, landing on two men and knocking them out.

"We need to keep them alive Grumpy Pants. Just incapacitate, and it's Spider-Girl. Is that so hard to remember?"

She said before firing a web at a crate and spinning, throwing it at an incoming solid light blast. It sent pieces of web and debris everywhere.

"Alright Sassy, good rule of thumb is to not get hit by those. We need to secure what's in the center room, whatever that is. My money is on some super small pox type thing. But crazy hard light gun also seems legit."

Three blasts came together to form a large wall coming straight at them. She didn't bother to ask for a better plan or look for a way around it that was easier. She grabbed him by the shirt and fired a web pulling the two of them over it. Of course she also then simply let go once they were clear of the wall, perhaps not the safest way to do it. Then again she wasn't exceptionally concerned with his well being. Sure killing a fellow agent would be frowned upon but as long as she was successful in her mission they'd probably over look it.

As she landed she pulled her Spider-gun from the small holster on her back. She'd loaded it with spider venom bullets to paralyze them. It'd be long enough for her to restrain them and do whatever it was they had to do. She dodged one blast and fired, hitting a man in the shoulder causing him to lock up and collapse. She knew they had to make their way to the center room but the people inside were beginning to converge on it.

"Don't suppose you got an exploding arrow that could disperse them do ya?"

She called over to Tyler.

Tyler was starting to get annoyed when he heard they had to keep them alive , sure it wasn't like he enjoyed killing them but it made the job so much harder. Especially considering these were not your average thugs but Lanterns of some sort. Tyler put an arm in front of his face to block some of the debris from hitting him and looked over at May. "It's Black Arrow , and there are more and more of you running around every day how am I supposed to remember everyone? But really though, we have to keep these suckers alive? They must have some valuable intel for Big Brother don't they.."


He observed the room and noticed it was probably housing something dangerous that shouldn't be in the hands of these people. "Don't tell me what I should and shouldn't get hit by, I don't do well with advice. And I think it's probably what powers these idiots. They work with batteries right?"

Tyler was slightly surprised when she grabbed him and lifted them both over it than she dropped him rather harshly for his taste but he rolled as soon as he landed and took his stance. He landed next to two of them and grabbed one of them by the arm and pulled him in close, he swiftly sent two blows one to the man's plexus and one to the jaw knocking him out cold. Immediately after that he jumped up and kneed the other one in the face and before he'd even landed he planted another kick in his stomach.

"Honey, I got an arrow for everything."

He smiled as he pulled out an arrow and shot it at the group, as soon as it landed it exploded causing some to be knocked back and the rest to disperse. Tyler shot another arrow at a blast of light coming straight for them and as soon as they made contact it exploded.

"Look I don't want to question your leadership skills or anything but where the hell is your Squad?"

He said while throwing a knife that went straight past May into the shoulder of one of the men.

"Ok that's fair, even I'm surprised by the spiders that show up. I think there's a new Scarlet Spider somewhere I need to speak with."

She said sort of trailing off. However when he mentioned 'Big Brother' she looked down at her claws and shrugged. It was fair, she hated it too. But she had to play ball. Which meant that as long as her mother was alive she was stuck. Part of her, a part she wished to silence, wanted Laura to die. If that happened they'd have no power over her anymore. But as long as Laura was alive she was stuck.

"I've given up questioning. My guess is they couldn't make it work and the people we're beating up managed to make it work. Or they have Latverian ties, my money is on Number 1 though. Mostly because they're yelling in English and not robots."

She said with a shrug. She continued to fire her Spider Gun and stun as many as she could. It wasn't easy as they were pretty solid at shielding projectiles. She could see why the government wanted this technology. She ignored his comment about how it worked. Mostly because she didn't really know anything about how all of this was working.

"Everything huh? Do you have an arrow made out of Avengers because I've seen Scion and Captain America, that would be super useful right now, in numerous ways...."

She said sort of trailing off. As the enemy was disbanded she quickly rushed in as they tried to recover.

"Good question. Squad, report!"

Two men jumped up and prepared to fire a blast at the two of them. Right as they did the floor gave way under them. She knew they were going to use to the tunnel to come in, or some were as the rest came in through the door.

"We need to learn to use our words. Fine, secure the lab and incapacitate. SHIELD will want answers before we get carpet bombed in a couple minutes. I'd rather not be bombed, I've got a date tonight."

"Classic SHIELD... Always wanting to compete with the big boys always looking for a new shiny weapon and they send us to grab it for them. At least they ask me nicely I don't want to know how they persuaded your team into it.


He fired another arrow as he spoke, Tyler always had his doubts about SHIELD and some of their agenda. To him they weren't the good guys but they were the embodiment of that 'gray area' they did what needed to be done even if it meant that sometimes they could be wrong. But he was right there with them, he came from a family of heroes but never felt truly in place with them. He knew that his place was somewhere else and untill he found it SHIELD was as good as any place to make himself useful.

"I got something better darling, I got me. You and me we are different from them, we don't run around in broad daylight trying to play the hero we do what must be done plus, I think we're way more fun than them."


When he noticed the two men preparing to attack them it was almost too late, he nocked back an arrow but before he could fire the ground underneath the men caved in and the team came in. Tyler was impressed by the skills of the person who did it and as he walked past he gave him a tap on the shoulder. "Not bad , Chipmunk maybe you aren't as useless as I thought. Now you guys listen to the lady while I stand back and cover your asses but don't piss me off or I'll accidentally shoot you.

He walked past some of the Lanterns and pulled his arrows out of them ignoring their screams, he only had a finite amount of them and didn't know how much he would need later on. "So a date tonight huh? Pity I wanted to take you out, how about coffee tomorrow if we survive this?"

"Yeah, SHIELD is no better than anyone else. Trying to win the weapons race and be one step ahead of everyone. But no, you don't wanna know what they have on me.."

She said looking down at her claws with a sigh. She wanted out of this deal and would probably accept someone removing this metal if she could. Only problem was her mother was in a federal hospital and therefore open to SHIELD prosecution. She knew they'd go after her and hated it. No one should secretly hope for their mother's death to make things easier on them. Yet here she was, a monster.

"Don't run around in broad daylight?"

She asked as she ducked under someone swinging at her. She wrapped her arm around his neck and began to choke in a sleeper hold.

"You need to spend more time in NYC Merida."

She said with a laugh as her squad came in. She quickly ran towards the lab in the middle of the hangar. With everyone scrambling she knew now was the best time. As she ran she threw punches at anyone who got in her way. She even threw one of her own men out of her way. They all should've known better than to be in her way anyways.

"Also try not to shoot any of my people, unless it's an awesome shot. I mean if they can't dodge an arrow they have no place on my team."

She said using her claws to cut the lock out of the door and throw it open. She couldn't help but roll her eyes at his offer.

"I have no intention of not surviving these half ass wanna be criminals. But if you actually prove useful I'll blow off my date and we'll go get some steak and whiskey."

She said as she began going through the tables. She ignored the sounds of fighting as well as when one of the 'Lanterns' was thrown through a window. With a quick kick to the head he was out and she continued searching. It seemed they had countless experiments but only one was the target.
