There was a momentary burst of confusion as Jor was questioned by the girls. The Kryptonian boy stared at them both. "I am sorry that I did not buy you dinner. I do not have any currency to exchange for food. I was not aware that there was custom in which food was exchanged for nudity. I will make a note." Marvel pointed at her repaired uniform and Jor was impressed. He did not know that humans possessed that type of power. He made a note to ask more about it at a later point in time.
Robin's statement to Jor about keeping his x-ray vision to himself was noted. "I believe I have it under control now. Would you like a meal as well?" He knew enough from his limited knowledge of humans that there was anger in Roxy's voice. Jor's super hearing allowed him to hear Roxy's comm link. He had mentioned that before, but maybe Robin had forgotten. "I am not sure what Kryptonite is, but your other voice is welcome to find as much as they need." He offered a reassuring smile. "I assume from the radio waves I can see, that, you're speaking into a communications device."
There was a brief pause while they whispered to each other. "I am a Kryptonian construct. I am genetically similar to a Kryptonian down to the sub-atomic level currently. I have patterned myself this way based on my programming." Everything was still communicated with a smile at them. Roxy made mention of someone named Zod. Jor's mind immediately registered. "Zod, a Kryptonian house with long ties to the Military Guild. Two members of note, both named Dru-Zod. Admiral Dru-Zod was a famous figure during the expansionary phase of Kryptonian space exploration. The most recent entry I possess is on General Dru-Zod, commander in chief of the Kryptonian Military, named for his ancient ancestor. General Zod was recently a great help in the defense of Krypton against Brainiac alongside Jor-El and his brother, Zor-El." The boy just rattled off the facts like it was right in front of him. Though the information was a bit outdated, since it only extended to his launch into space.
"There are Kryptonians on this world?" Jor asked in response to the voice over the comm link.

Oh he was an odd duck, that was for sure. Though Lydia thought he seemed relatively harmless, even if he still possessed all that power. That he was still learning to use. Super human puberty was always an adventure. She noted the air of innocence about him, which was more than likely the reason she didn't think he was a threat, and when he mentioned he was a Kryptonian "construct" she had a small light bulb go off in her head. He was like that robot in one of Phil's favorite movies, Short...fuse? Short Circut! That's it. He was literally innocent about the world around him. Apparently a little outdated on his information too.
"Um...we'll get to Zod being crazy later. I believe there are other Kryptonians on this world though I don't personally know any. What about you, Rob?" She looked over at Robin, just as curious to know the answer.

Roxy simply stared at him with a look of pure confusion on her face. Trading a meal for nudity. Well in her experiences it was usually money, not so much dinner. But Marvel's little joke had apparently been lost on him, as would most jokes most likely. He didn't really seem to understand basic conversation, but that was fine with her. She would just need to be straight forward with him, make it easy to understand.
"Umm, we can discuss dinner later. Probably right after we discuss sarcasm and jokes."
She said shaking her head. Roxy didn't like someone so unclear about the ways of humanity having all that power. It was dangerous and could prove very wrong. Question had mentioned someone named Ultron a while back. All that power and only thought certain ways. Tried to eradicate the human race, Roxy would prefer if that didn't happen.
"I'm not familiar with other Kryptonians. I mean I know they exist, or existed. Never paid much attention to aliens or superhumans, no offense. I've had a bad experience with them in the past."
She said shaking her head. She sighed lightly, crossing her arms as she remembered the pimp. She didn't like the idea of superhumans primarily because of that. Neither of them seemed to have those sort of powers so it wasn't all bad.
'Don't worry Robin. He's gone, for good.'
"Ya know it's only a matter of time before SHIELD or some other acronym comes after him."
She said to Lydia. QUestion had been helping her look into various government agencies. Sure some were bull or defunct, on paper. But there were a few she was never fully settled with. She still believed CHECKMATE was out there somewhere. Likely some small group operating somewhere. She had a feeling they were all tied into sports teams though.

The one called Captain Marvel mentioned something about Zod being crazy. Jor raised an eyebrow. The commentary about General Zod losing his mental faculties was confusing. Also, it raised questions as to how humans could know about Kryptonians seeing as there was no Kryptonian space travel. Where did they come from? Jor was very confused.
"I do not understand. Where did these Kryptonians come from? Krypton's space fleet was dismantled. Jor-El had plans to build a vessel to bring his son, Kal-El, to another world, but I do not possess any more data beyond my launch time. My mission and the mission of those like me was to discover habitable worlds and catalog them. Jor-El believed that Krypton was doomed. If there are others, then this must not have been the case."
He smiled warmly at Roxy. "I am eager to let you teach me about sarcasm and jokes. Is a meal required trade for that too? Because I will then owe you two meals." Jor looked concerned that he was going to owe the two girls food for a week at this rate. He listened to the rest of what Roxy had to say. "I am sorry if you have had issues with the race of my creator. I would like to apologize on behalf of the entire planet and the Science Council."
There were many more questions that Jor would have liked to ask, but Roxy made it sound like finding out about SHIELD was the more pressing matter. "Why would this agency come after me? I have done nothing wrong." He paused. "Aside from the bus... And the blasting you both. But those were accidents."

Where Robin was being pessimistic about Jor and his powers and view of the world, Lydia was overly optimistic. Though she had always had a sunny outlook on life. To her, Jor just seemed eager and willing. And she liked those types. They were usually as optimistic as she was. And he had a lot to learn.
"Um, I think we have files on Kal-El back at the Tower." Marvel tapped her chin. "If I remember correctly, he was sent here because Krypton...um...exploded. Oh that is bad, I'm sorry..." She lapsed into an awkward silence until Roxy mentioned SHIELD getting involved. She was right of course. He was an unknown. Phil didn't like unknowns. But he'd listen to her about it.
"Don't worry about SHIELD. I have that covered." She waved Robin off. "He could come to the Tower. Heck you can too if you're that worried, Rob."

Roxy stood there calmly as Lydia did her best to try and ease the situation. That was definitely not Roxy's style. Sure with his dreamy blue eyes she flet for him, but the truth was like a bandaid. Quick, fast, and let it move on. Of course most disagreed and she was always the jerk for it.
"Krypton blew up a long time ago. Kal-El was sent here as an infant, became..."
'Superman. Seriously? This is like common knowledge.'
"...became Superman. There's a statue to him somewhere in Metropolis. Hell I think he even had a kid running around somewhere. Or was that just a rumor? Eh nevermind, but yeah Krypton is gone. If you need consoling I have a shoulder free. Just saying is all..."
'Whoa whoa whoa! I will not-'
She turned her comm device off and turned her attention back to Jor.
"Well I wouldn't turn down free food, I mean that'd be rude, right? Plus teaching someone about a new form of communication seems like it's important to do. As for the Tower, never been one for teams Marvel..."
She said shaking her head. She hated the idea of joining the Titans. It just seemed like a terrible idea for her. She'd never been one for 'teamwork'. It was something Huntress and Question had always scolded her for. She simply did terrible at it. However, at the same time, working with Jor and being like a real hero wasn't a terrible idea. Plus Robin's were key to members of the Titans.
"Although I am curious as to how you have an in with SHIELD."

The information was a lot to take in. Jor's rational half of his mind processed the destruction of Krypton. That made sense. Jor-El had been warning the council about the rampant geological instability being a much larger problem than the Science Council made it out to be. But Kal-El's being here made things more difficult. That meant that Jor's mission was over before he even arrived on Earth. He felt like someone punched him in the stomach for a moment. That meant that he no longer had a purpose.
Roxy helped Lydia fill in the blanks. Jor looked at them both. "I was created for the sole purpose of finding astronomical data to help the Kryptonians evacuate. My mission is complete. I don't understand what I should do now. My programming dictates deactivation, but I don't wish to. I am afraid to end my program." He looked at Roxy. She did indeed have free shoulders aside from the cape. Jor was confused as to the meaning of that. He looked to Lydia with his head slightly tilted in the hopes of gaining some sort of understanding.
"This is true. Food seems to be the currency your species uses to further understanding. And I am programmed to learn all sorts of things. Learning new forms of communication would be useful, if I decide to continue functioning." He looked at them and realized they had designations. That made sense. The blonde was Captain Marvel and the red-head was Robin, he gathered. It was considered rude in Kryptonian culture not to introduce yourself. "I am being rude. My designation is Kryptonian Astrometrics Probe Number 25. I am the 25th in the series of probes Jor-El, Scion of the House of El constructed. I would be honored to see your Tower."

As Jor looked at her curiously, looking for explanation on Robin's idiom. "Um...shoulder, for crying, for comfort? Because you're upset?" she offered him with a smile and a shrug. It was definitely going to take some getting used to, idioms were something she used without thinking. He would require some adjustments before he started learning things, assuming he defied his programming, which seemed to be what he was doing currently. Perhaps he just needed another purpose.
"Do...do not end your program. You could re-purpose! Protect people of this world that Kal-El called home. Obviously he found it worth protecting, and Jor-El found it worth sending him to." Marvel smiled hopefully. Then Robin looked over at her a little too curiously when she mentioned her "in" with SHIELD. She bit the inside of her cheek. She'd said a bit too much it seemed and she scrambled for an explanation that didn't shout "Hey, my adoptive father is the director and my brother is Captain freaking America."
"I'm an ace pilot. Sometimes they need a person with my skills." She offered Robin. The probe, as he called himself, spit out his very long designation and Marvel just crinkled her nose. It was much too long. that would be ridiculously impossible to shout into a comm unit. It just would not do.
"Um, how about we just call you Jor, for now. After your creator. OH! Like people call Dr. Frankenstein's creation Frankenstein. Perfect." Ok, well not exactly perfect. Some people thought Frankenstein was a monster, thou she'd always seen him as misunderstood. People fearing the unknown and such, instead of learning. And that's exactly what they would all do, learn about Jor rather then throw him in a containment unit because they weren't sure what he would do. She'd try her very best to make sure Phil didn't want to lock him away and study him.
"Getting back to the tower shouldn't be too hard...Just have to recalibrate a few things." She pulled out her comm unit and fiddled with the teleporter settings.

Hearing he might shut down was definitely sad. He seemed like a nice guy, or whatever he was. Plus it'd be a waste to simply shut down someone, or something, with eyes like that. But she was also glad Lydia seemed to try and talk him out of it, while also explaining idioms. She herself was never great at explaining complex language aspects. Hell she had trouble explaining basic ones for that matter. Sure she could explain aspects of combat and other things like that. But when it came to explaining science, English or math she was lost. However it felt good to know she wasn't the only one who had issues with Math, made her feel a little more normal. Otherwise she pretty much stayed quiet, simply observing the two. She hated interacting with people when it was out of her element. Sure if she was trying to gather intel she had no issues. But otherwise she was pretty much anti-social, not too different from her adoptive parents.
"A pilot with SHIELD connections, ok, if you say so."
Roxy was calling bull on that but had no proof just yet. But it was definitely something she'd look into later on when she had some free time. Well, IF she free time at all.
"I was beginning to wonder if there was a family connection."
She said with a laugh. She was happy with her adoptive parents, they'd saved her and given her a wide range of skills she likely wouldn't have had. She wasn't dumb and knew that had they not found her, most likely scenario was she'd be dead in a dumpster somewhere. Hell she likely wouldn't have survived that night had Huntress not found her.
"Well prepare yourself APN, she's gonna teleport us. I hate teleporting. Makes my molecules all tingly."
But she also knew there was no talking her out of it. She seemed the type who once she made up her mind, it was happening. If it didn't involve teleporting she'd actually be impressed.
"And speaking of food being the currency we blah de blah de blah, I could go for a sandwich or two..."

Walt appeared behind Superboy with the dull whoosh sound which frequently indicated his arrival.
"I heard 'sandwiches'!" Walt was grinning from ear to ear, happy to see his friends and fellow heroes. His stomach rumbled loudly- aggressively, even- and he put a hand to his belly and smiled even wider.
"Fancy seeing you here, Lyds! I was actually looking for you, big guy!" He smiled at Superboy. "Lantern's busy space-copping about, so I thought I'd swing by the Daily Planet, see if we happen to be under attack by some alien race, or something." He grinned foolishly at his own joke, and then casually locked eyes with Superboy. "Well, a different one, I guess." His smile broadened. He had already decided that it was his responsibility to teach the Kryptonian the value of humor at every opportunity.
"And here we all are. So... sandwiches?" He noticed Robin's curt presence and smiled warmly, offering his hand. "You must be Robin. Big fan. I'm, uh..." He grinned and gestured lamely to his lightning-themed costume. "I'm the Flash. But you can call me- ..." He trailed off early, anticipating a laugh, if not from the girl herself, then from the other two. He'd settle for a reluctant, wry smile from Lydia.
He looked forward to sandwiches almost as much as he looked forward to getting to know the two heroes he was just now meeting.

There was a lot of information for Jor to take in. Lydia suggested that he extend his program and re-purpose it. His artificial intelligence was designed to adapt, so this could be done. She also suggested changing his designation to "Jor". It was a bastardization of a Kryptonian name, but since it did not imply belonging to any sort of House, this would cause no one offense or dishonor. Though if most of Krypton was dead, he was not sure who he was dishonoring. The young man looked very puzzled.
"I don't know what a Frankenstein is. You may call me whatever you feel is acceptable. I will be Jor if you wish or I could be Frankenstein. I am here to serve." It was true. His function as a machine was to serve unless it violated some directive in his programming. The one called Robin mentioned something about teleporting.
Jor looked at her. "Your species has developed the ability to convert matter into energy and transport it? Fascinating. I did not think that you had become that advanced." Jor's hearing detected someone's appearance behind him. He turned and looked, seeing a man in a scarlet costume. Jor heard his words and tilted his head at the young man in the costume. "What is a daily planet? And how does it tell you if you are under attack? Is it some kind of sensor system?"
The probe looked over to Lydia. She seemed to be the only one that spoke anything that made sense. "I don't seem to understand most of the things he is saying."

While fiddling with the teleporting coordinates, Lydia pointedly ignored the jab about a familial connection Robin tossed out there. She pretended to not even hear it. Though with someone like her, silence could be seen as a confirmation, but with only that to go on, she really didn't have much else. And she wasn't going to say much else on the matter either.
"Well we have had contact with alien species before. Teleporting is not a widely used form of transportation as we've yet to completely reverse engineer it with basic Terran technology. Just...integrate it with what some of us currently have." She was about to tell Robin she was more than willing to make them sandwiches or whatever else struck her fancy when she heard the telltale whoosh of an incoming speedster. She prepared herself for the large gust of air that usually accompanied Walt stopping as everything caught up with him. She brushed her hair out of her face and pulled a few strands out of her mouth as she smiled at him.
"Always thinking with your stomach, Flash." She resisted the urge to use his name, and she forgave him for the one slip upon greeting her. His mind was probably moving too fast to catch up with his mouth again. Jor (as she was going to call him from now on), seemed to be having trouble keeping up with the fastest man alive. She grinned and shook her head.
"It's ok, Jor. Half the time, most of us don't know what he's saying either. But the Daily Planet is...an information outlet of sorts. There are people that report on the important comings and goings and different things that happen around the world that people should know about. And as for sandwiches...Robin, I'll make you whatever you want if you're coming. Wall-E, I know what you like, you'll get twelve. Everyone ok with that?"

Roxy stood there calmly, also aware of the ever growing sound of someone with super speed approaching. She still stood there calmly listening to Jor and Lydia talking. She didn't have much to add to the conversation, which was fine with her. She liked to just observe, let everyone forget about her and then she could really begin judging them. But it seemed the speedster wasn't going to allow that.
"Yes I know who you are Flash."
She said calmly, ignoring his out stretched hand. She turned her attention back to Jor and Lydia, not finding Flash interesting at all.
"Yes, I do believe I'll come with as well. I am curious about how this whole thing is going to work out. Plus it's not every day I meet an alien."
She said calmly. Plus she was hungry, probably hungrier than she'd admit. Plus she knew she'd have to get closer to the Titans eventually. She'd be working with them for years to come so it only made sense. After all she would have to play nice eventually. Plus Huntress was always on her to make friends. As was evidenced by how she was treating Walt, that wouldn't be so easy.
"And Jor, to your previous question, Frankenstein is a story by Mary Shelly from the 1800's. A doctor, Victor von Frankenstein makes a so called monster with cobbled together body parts and electricity and other sciencey stuff."

The information Marvel was providing him about teleporting was interesting. That seemed to jive with what he currently knew. Jor had been drawn to the planet due to the presence of Kryptonian technology, so it made sense that they had encountered other forms of alien life. That even some members of this race were advanced enough to incorporate some of the more advanced aspects of otherworldly technology into their own was impressive.
"This makes sense. There are so many of you on this world, it would make sense to have a class dedicated to reporting on the important things going on there." Jor gave Roxy a smile. "I am meeting new aliens every day. You are all alien to me."
The one called Captain Marvel had decided to call him Jor. That suited him just fine. He realized that names made it easier to communicate and would serve his new purpose. He assumed that these people used two sets of names. In his travels around the city, he had not heard anyone use names like Captain Marvel, Robin or Flash. He would have to inquire about them later. The one called Flash referenced something called a Lantern. He must have meant a Green Lantern. Jor's knowledge about that subject was limited but it was enough for him to nod to Walter.
"A story... Some sort of fiction... I think." The rest was a jumble of words. He didn't know much else. Monster, maybe. Body parts, obviously, but other things like the 1800's were sort of beyond him. "I will need to study your world more. Also, I don't know what a sandwich is, but I am eager to experience it."

"Y'know, big guy, so am I!"
Walt threw an arm around the newcomer and smiled. He took a deep breath, and started in, trying his very best to remain calm enough to be understood.
"And I really can't describe such a simple miracle with mere words. And I also can't stand still anymore." Then Walt literally jumped. His expression was one of shock, and when he next spoke, his voice was empty.
"Oh my god."
Then the sunshine broke on his face and he beamed with it. He looked Jor straight in the eyes.
"We have to race !"
He pointed to a small row of buildings on the opposite end of the city that were just visible past the skyline.
"Right there! You tryta get there first! C'mon! You too, Danvers! And Robin! (You have a plane or something, right?) Okay, let's GO! C'monc'monc'mon! Mom, can we?! Oh my GOD." He looked pleadingly, desperately, at Lydia.
A race against a Superman. Finally .
