The air in Metropolis was cold. Though the young Kryptonian boy hardly noticed anymore. It seemed the longer he was exposed to yellow sunlight, the more abilities developed. The downside was that the same aura that would eventually make him indestructible, kept him from fully perceiving touch and temperature the same way humans did. It happened gradually over the first few days on Earth. At first he was cold, and made a red and black Kryptonian body suit for his naked form, but as the days went on, the sensation lessened.
He noticed other changes in his body as well. His senses had begun to heighten and he was able to hear and see things from a distance, which seemed to be slowly increasing. Gravity seemed to have a lesser hold on him as well as time went on. He couldn't do much more than leap, but the distances were becoming greater. He could now leap for miles, where in the beginning, he could barely clear a tall building in a single bound. This was all happening in accordance with the information he'd gathered from the records of the Kryptonian space explorers. Jor knew that his abilities would continue to develop further and that others would manifest (though he was not sure how many) with continued exposure to the sun.
The avatar had befriended some of the local humans that lived in the park. Once his mind acclimated to the matrix and uploaded the language called English, he learned from broadcasts he could hear and listening to them speak. This allowed him to communicate with them on a basic scale. The matrix tried to fill in some of the blanks, drawing from the human knowledge base it tried to assimilate. As he listened to them talk the matrix let him to believe that some of them were mentally unstable, others just ran into hard times and were displaced due to some major battle. The leader of this community seemed to be an older man named John who had taken Jor in. Some of the humans were wary of the boy, but with the old man's assurances for the most part they accepted him and treated him like a younger member of their community.
Today though, Jor decided to leave the confines of the park and explore the greater area of Metropolis. He wandered the streets looking around and examining anything that he could in an attempt to understand this civilization. The symbol of the House of El was seen in quite a few locations as well as the symbol of the Green Lantern Corps and many others he didn't recognize. He had many questions and his search for answers was only turning up more so far. Many of the passersby were staring at him and he could not figure out why. He had no idea that they were staring at the red and black suit he was wearing.
Though currently devoid of the iconic "S" inside the chest piece, they still thought he might be a hero or a villain looking to stake a claim. Jor wandered out into the street, while looking around. He did not see a bus approaching where he was standing. His senses detected it at the last minute and he threw a hand up. The bus hit his hand and screeched to a halt as Jor killed any momentum. His hand dug deep into the metal, leaving a hand print behind. There was a minor surge of fear and panic from the matrix and his hand began to glow brightly in reaction. An energy discharge was released into the front of the bus, melting part of the metal away and causing people around him to start screaming. The few people on the bus cleared it rapidly as the energy continued to eat away at the metallic wreck. Jor looked around, confused and slightly panicked. His powers seemed to be temporarily out of his control and that was quite worrisome.

Lydia had just gotten her coffee when her Titan communicator went off. She was used to her phone buzzing or ringing at any random time, her friends always texting or snapchatting whatever they felt like. But the communicator was a different, more jarring sound. And it made her spill her coffee all over her favorite scarf. She grabbed some napkins and started dabbing at the fabric as she fished out the annoyance.
"Oh, this had better be good. Making me spill my coffee." She mumbled to herself as she looked at what all the fuss was about. She sighed, looking over the report. This was the problem with being the heavy lifter on the team, she had to do the heavy lifting. It was a good thing this was her free period and Metropolis wasn't that far for her to fly, but still, her favorite scarf. She tossed the coffee in the trash and headed toward a secluded part of campus and took off into the sky, changing as she went.
She wasn't really sure what she was coming in on but the scene before her was just a little confusing. All traffic had stopped and there was definitely a wide, wide ring around a guy in a red and black jumpsuit who seemed to have stopped a city bus dead in it's tracks and was currently causing it to melt. She took a quick look at the bus to make sure it was clear before landing in front of him. He didn't seem aggressive. He wasn't openly attacking anything else. But with that kind of power, she still felt better if she could get him out of a highly populated area.
"Ok buddy, hands where I can see them. Nice and slow. Don't want anyone getting hurt, now do we?"

Metropolis, definitely not Roxy's usual jurisdiction. She spent most of her time in either Gotham or Hub City. But on occasion she ended up visiting other cities when a case called for it. Today was one of those instances. She was going after the higher up in a sex trafficking ring. One who was partially responsible for her terrible childhood so of course she was going to chase it. Her dad Question was trying to talk her out of it to the point where she'd shut off her communicator. She heard the familiar beep of someone trying to contact her and felt her phone vibrating. She half expected to see a Justice League member soon enough, but so far nothing. After 'speaking' with a few lower ranking members she had a direction. A possible general was still in the city and she was on the move to find him and have a chat. She was angry that she never got more revenge, but she'd make sure they wouldn't hurt anyone ever again.
The city was kind of cold but her cape helped keep her warm as did the warming packs in her boots and the heavier wig. Plus all the movement and her time spent living on the streets have toughened her up and made dealing with cold not too terrible. She was on her way when she heard the sound of tires screeching, not that odd, likely an accident. But then the screaming and the blur of someone flying in told her that something was up. She turned her communicator back on, looking for some help.
'Don't you ever hang up on me again young lady! You are in so much trouble when you get home!'
"Ok, cool, whatever. But we've got something happening in Metropolis what you got for me?"
She heard him grumble and then begin typing as she ran towards where the sound came from.
'Alright. Apparently we got some guy in a red and black suit just melted a bus. We have Captain Marvel here. Let her handle it.'[/i]
"Pssh, I got this."
She said turning her staff into a bow and drawing an exploding arrow. She quietly moved to get into position now behind the guy in red and black. She made it down to the street and had an arrow drawn. She had. what she thought, was a safe location behind a parked car. She'd see where Marvel took this but was ready in case something went wrong.

In the span of microseconds, Jor's brain began analyzing the issue. His powers were being triggered by an intense emotional reaction from his matrix. He hadn't fully adapted to the presence of the matrix yet and was stuck in a loop. His fear was triggering his powers and his powers were triggering his fear response. Within his mind, the Kryptonian probe began putting a firewall together around the matrix in an attempt to rein his emotional response in enough to take hold of his new powers. His enhanced hearing perceived the sound of someone approaching from what seemed like the air.
The probe dared to take a look, using enhanced sight to see it. It was a female clad in some sort of costume. He looked back at the bus. The Boy of Steel had been unable to control his powers, but managed to control the level of energy output enough to keep the bus from being fully vaporized. He made sure to use the empty shell of the bus to absorb the energy, so his abilities would not harm another being. Her voice rang out, issuing him orders and asking if he wanted anyone to be injured.
Jor turned, following her orders. His hands continued to fire energy blasts in Lydia's direction. He cursed softly in Kryptonian, as he realized the flaw in his logic. The matrix was causing too much confusion. At this rate, he'd kill everyone if he wasn't careful. The way this situation was beginning to evolve, he might have to run his own shutdown sequence in order to protect the population. As the energy beams poured from his hands, he spoke two words in very accented english.
"I'm sorry."

Today was not Lydia's day. First it was being late to class, then it was the coffee stain on her scarf and now...this. Being blasted in the chest with some very strange energy. She tasted oranges and felt rather invigorated taking in all that energy. But it was still a lot of energy. And she had to keep taking it in, because no one else could really take a hit. She was tingly all over and trying not to get pushed around by Ol' Blue Eyes.
"OK...OK...that was cool the first time you did it. But I can do that too, eh?" Lydia's hands started to glow as she took a step forward toward Jor. She couldn't hear his apologizing over the rushing in her own ears, but she did recognize the look on his face. At least, she hoped she did. She also figured if he could stop a bus with his bare hands and not get a scratch, a blast of his own medicine wouldn't be too bad. She sent a barrage of blasts at him, holding back just a small portion, taking a small gamble at recognizing the panic of not being able to control his powers.

'I'm serious Robin, get out of there. This isn't your fight and this is way above your limit. Call for back up and l-'
She cut the communicator off and went back to focusing on the fight. This guy was going crazy and he needed to be stopped. If he wasn't stopped in time it could get really risky. She was worried that eventually an innocent person would get hurt. She could see the two of them were talking but couldn't hear what they were saying. As he seemed to blast her she readied the arrow. He was tough enough to stop a bus so likely an exploding arrow wouldn't be too bad. But, just to be on the safe side she aimed at the ground a foot behind him. It'd be close enough the blast would be effective but not be too dangerous to him. She needed to feel him out so she didn't kill him. As soon as Marvel fired she too fired, putting the exploding arrow about a foot behind his left heel and...nothing.
"Damn duds."
She groaned before drawing another one and changing position. She headed into the park, grabbing a low branch of a tree and swinging herself into it. She drew another exploding arrow and fired at the ground beside his foot again. This time however the arrow managed to explode about 8 inches from his ankle. She didn't know exactly what he was capable of but she'd find out. She would stop him, no matter what. As the arrow exploded she drew a sonic arrow and waited. Luckily this kind almost never failed. Primarily because their power came from wind moving past it. Sure she'd occasionally had it set too high and shattered glass, but that was very rare.

As he blasted Captain Marvel, he noticed that his blasts were causing her pain but not killing her. This was good. It meant she was durable. He didn't have to worry about killing her. Jor heard her every word. The girl said she could do it too and then he saw her hands glow. He realized he was about to be attacked and he noted that he could not blame her, seeing as how he technically attacked first.
Lydia's blasts hit him square in the chest and he stumbled back a little, feeling strange. His cells were drinking up the energy she was bombarding him with. Jor felt his abilities increase with each blast. Why was she attacking him with yellow solar energy? That didn't make sense. Unless she could only hit him with the same type of energy. As his mind began to process the logical train of thought, Jor began to calm a bit. The second explosive arrow detonated next to Jor's ankle and knocked him off his feet. He landed on his backside with a thud and the blasts stopped for a moment as he got his bearings.
"That's better."
He looked over to Lydia, preparing to apologize. Suddenly, his eyes were looking through her. He could see her bone structure and organs beneath skin. He had never experienced anything like this before. Jor focused his mind on controlling his eyes. He focused and the layers became visible again. Now, the only thing that he could see through was her costume and a strange thing happened. A new emotion, unlike anything the probe had ever experienced before surfaced. He felt his blood begin to boil and the heat sensation concentrated around his eyes. The next thing he knew, fire shot from his eyes in Lydia's direction as his heat vision emerged for the first time.
After a few moments, Jor put his hands up in front of his eyes, using them to block the rays. He closed his eyes completely and covered them with his hands, ceasing the energy output. He called out to Captain Marvel in his slightly accented English, hoping she would grant him mercy. "I am sorry. I ask for your forgiveness. These abilities are new to me. I did not know they would manifest like this. I think I am in control for the moment."

The giving him a taste of his own medicine idea was not going as well well as Lydia had hoped. Indeed, her new friend seemed almost entirely unphased. This meant she'd have to try a different tactic. Like punching. Though if he could stop a bus with his bare hands, she wouldn't have to hold back much. Or... There could be arrows exploding at his feet, knocking him on his ass. She resisted the urge to pout as the constant stream of energy he was putting out cut off. She looked around for the owner of the arrows, spotting Robin up on a roof across the street. She gave her a small nod and moved in to see just what the hell was going on.
"Ok, I'm giving you a chance here to surrender. Nice and peaceful like. This seems like it could be some huge... misunderstanding...?" She watched him carefully, anticipating some form of attack just in case. But the look on his face gave her pause as he seemed momentarily confused. The next thing she knew, her chest felt like it was on fire. She hadn't felt pain like that in a very long time. The dude had just heat visioned her chest and all she think was to clutch at it. "Ow.... OW! Owowowow!"
Lydia heard him call out to her and she looked over, still clutching her chest. The only reason she didn't automatically try and flatten him was she heard the word sorry. It made her actively listen.
"New powers huh? Those days are never fun..." she waved Robin off, setting her feet on the ground and walking over. "The biggest thing is to remain calm. Panic makes it worse." His accent was unusual to her, she couldn't pick it out. And she had at least heard most major languages being around Phil and James. She could ask him about it later, after they got away from high population centers. If these kind of powers were manifesting, she wanted to keep the damage to a minimum.
"How about every go somewhere less crowded, huh?"

Seeing the exploding arrow have the desired effect was a relief. Keeping her sonic arrow drawn she dropped down from the tree she was in. She quickly hopped up onto the roof of a nearby car and watched him. She didn't trust him entirely, something about him was unsettling. Of course she knew nothing of powers going haywire, it was simply not something she dealt with. She was just an average, run of the mill human, just with a tragic back story and some advanced training. Of course she didn't have nearly as much training as previous Robins, but that was only a matter of time. She was training every day and soon enough she'd be the best Robin there was. She clicked her communicator back on and prepared herself for the tirade that'd be coming.
'What have I told you about turning this thing off? Leave it on at all times! You do that again and I'm calling in back up, and that includes your mother.'
"You mean Huntress."
'Yes, Huntress. Sorry.'
The concept of parentage was still a sore spot for Roxy, something she likely wouldn't get over anytime soon. But in the mean time she would simply deal with it. While deep down she knew Victor and Helena were her mom and dad she just had trouble accepting it. Primarily because the only parents she'd really known had given her up. It was a sore spot for her, something she didn't like dealing with. She drew closer as things seemed to be calming down, somewhat.
"She's right, let's get out of here, somewhere you can't hurt anyone else."
She kept just far enough away that her sonic arrow, if it worked, would be effective. Her arrow was aimed right between his eyes. She had no idea if it would bounce off or have any physical affect. But the main part of this was for the sound to take them out. Or at the very least it'd distract him long enough for Marvel to finish him off.

As he attained the proper focus over his heat vision, he looked around. His x-ray vision allowed him to see through the hands over his eyes, but he was careful not to let it go any further than that. Jor didn't want to take a chance just yet by uncovering and blasting the polite girl who was speaking to him. The Kryptonian boy nodded. "There are records of abilities manifesting like this, but I was unaware of the emotional stimuli required to activate them. I am sorry about your injuries."
Jor turned to Roxy and smiled at her, his superhearing picking up the rant coming through her comm. "Your other voice seems to be slightly upset. I apologize if I am the cause of that. Please apologize to your Huntress for me." He accented the word Huntress, as if trying to digest it, but not completely understanding the meaning of it in conjunction with Robin. Both women had the idea to get him away from a populated area where his abilities couldn't hurt anyone. It was a solid idea. Especially, given how unpredictable they'd been so far.
A quick scan through his hands with a combination of x-ray and telescopic vision determined there was a hill just out side the city limits. "I have located an unpopulated area outside the limits. I will leap there and await you both." Jor bent his knees and pushed off, hurtling himself upwards above the buildings. As he came to the top of his arc, he removed his hands from his eyes, feeling his powers were satisfactorily under control. He landed with a light thud on the hill and waited for Captain Marvel and Robin to show up. This was a wise choice indeed. He was lucky they came along when they did.

Cap snorted derisively at the wonder boy's observation about "emotional stimuli". All of hers had manifested under some sort of emotional duress. She'd think she was a mutant if her powers had manifested at puberty. But no, they'd all come at random times, most at the least opportune time. Blasting your date out of his car because he put his hand too far up your skirt was a fun time had by all. James had laughed. Phil had to play MIB man and convince the kid he had imagined the whole thing.
"Oh, emotions are usually the trigger for this sort of mess." She eyed him for a moment, wondering if he might be a mutant. He seemed about the right age for it. She glanced over to Robin perched on a car, as his comments about her second voice made her grin, remembering those days. Her ears still rang sometimes. She gave the other girl a small sympathy nod, glad to not have anyone in her ear right at the moment.
"Wait..leap? But-" before she could finish though, he was gone, leaping over tall buildings in a single bound. She was very curious as to how he had found anything with his hands over his eyes. But he cleared the buildings just fine. "Man, I'm so glad I can fly..." she watched as he faded into the distance, before grabbing Robin around the waist.
"All aboard the Captain Marvel Express! For your safety, please keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times. We thank you for choosing us today for your flight to the middle of nowhere. There will be no inflight movie as we will be arriving shortly. Please watch your step as you exit the vehicle. Have a wonderful day." Lydia flew them toward the direction she'd seen Jor fly in and kept flying until she spotted him standing on a small hill. Well, he was right, it was well and away from any other people. She set down lightly a few yards away so they could walk closer or dodge back just in case it was another trap. But Lydia had the feeling it was as it seemed; an accident and a case of wrong place wrong time.
"So..." She noticed his hands weren't covering his face now and he seemed calmer. "Not going to blink and blow anything up are you?"

As they discussed powers and so forth she shook her head. It was times like this that she was grateful she didn't have any powers. She had enough crap to deal with given her past and so forth. That had a tendency to be annoying enough. Besides, emotional stress tended to trigger it and she'd had her fair share of emotional stress.
"Glad I don't have any powers."
She mumbled to herself.
'You and me both kid.'
For once she agreed with Question. Well actually she agreed with him quite often, she just wouldn't admit it, well to his face. She had a tendency to chase down the same wild geese that Question did. She was currently working on a theory that ice cream trucks never actually carried ice cream but used a series of wormholes to obtain it. She was looking forward to getting back to her investigation but was suddenly scooped up by Lydia.
"A little warning would've been nice."
She yelled up to Lydia as she was being flown away. She had nothing against flying, she just wasn't a fan of being grabbed without her consent. When she was set down she placed her sonic arrow back in her quiver and stood back, observing the two. She was simply here because she didn't trust this blue eyed guy. Sure he had some dreamy eyes but he'd still melted a bus. Not only that he did it with little to no effort.

The Kryptonian turned around and looked at them both as they landed. The comment about emotions made him pause. Perhaps even enhanced humans had this sort of issue. This would require further study at a later date. He gave the girls both a quick cellular scan. Captain Marvel as she called herself, seemed to be part something else. He cataloged the genetic information for later study. Robin on the other hand, seemed like a baseline human as far as he could detect. The probe looked up at the question. "Yes, I believe I am okay. My eyes had an issue with the x-ray spectrum and both of your clothing temporarily vanished. It created an interesting issue with my emotional matrix. I seem to have control over the x-ray vision now."
Roxy's complaint did not go unnoticed. Jor smiled at her as well. "She did warn you. She said 'all aboard the Captain Marvel Express' before grabbing you. I heard that from here. Are you alright, Robin? Your heartbeat is moving a little quickly."
After a few moments of contemplation, the probe spoke again. "I'm sorry for the trouble my powers seem to have caused. I was not expecting them to manifest so violently under this world's yellow sun. The information I have on this phenomenon is admittedly a bit outdated by a few centuries though." He looked at the damage to Captain Marvel's costume. "I should be able to repair the damage I caused, both to your suit and the automobile. It won't be an issue."

"He's right, I totally warned you....wait...did you say you saw me naked?" Lydia blinked as that little tidbit filtered into her head.
"You didn't even buy me dinner first!" She said with mock contempt. "Usually I get dinner before any clothes disappear."
He continued to apologize about everything and Lydia waved him off. She'd been there, having destroyed more than her fair share of property with powers gone wild. Phil had a house in the woods for a few years while she went through her "growing pains" as it were. So the only thing she destroyed were trees. And the occasional mountainside. She looked down at the damage to her suit and just waved her hand over it. She'd have to take care of the wound underneath later, but she was fairly sure by the time she got back, it'd be nothing but a scratch.
"Nah, it's fine. See? All better. And there's insurance for that kind of property damage." She looked at the blue eyed stranger for a moment, listing off the powers she knew him to possess. They, in combination, seemed familiar to her. Super strength, x-ray vision, heat vision, leaping over buildings in a single bound and apparently super hearing all because of a yellow sun. She clutched her chin pensively and stepped closely next to Robin, trying to put their heads together.
"You know..." she whispered conspiratorially, covering her mouth with her hand, knowing full well he could hear her. But she wanted to be part of a dynamic duo, darn it, and that meant conspiratorial whispering. "His power set is...very, very familiar. Gonna say some sort of alien...You thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Well I wouldn't really call that a warning in the strictest sense."
She mumbled. Yes she knew she'd been warned somewhat. But it wasn't exactly a warning in the strictest sense. The primary issue was that she was touched without her exact permission. She didn't like that. She preferred getting permission for anything someone did to her. However her very mild anger about that suddenly changed when the guy mentioned seeing through her clothes.
"Not cool. If your X-ray vision is under control I highly suggest you keep it that way. Namely for your own safety."
Yes she was a big talker but she was dealing with two major powerhouses. So all she really brought to the table was snark and some arrows. Her arrows wouldn't do much against these two so she had to rely on snark. That might not do much against them but it was really all she had to rely on.
'I'll see what I can do about finding some kryptonite...'
"Good."
She mumbled before turning her attention back to Marvel. She mentioned that the power set was extremely familiar. Roxy nodded her head in agreement. She didn't like the idea of a whole new alien showing up. Personally she felt there were too many of them to begin with.
"Yeah, Kryptonian."
She whispered back.
"Think he's another Zod posing as an imbecile?"
She asked. It wouldn't be the first time some wannabe alien over lord or even a major villain posed as a neutral moron unsure of his powers. Then again Roxy didn't really trust anyone so that was another issue right there. But she was vaguely familiar with some of the other major heroes.
'Want me to try and notify another Kryptonian?'
"Not yet."
She whispered into her communicator.
