"I am not basic!" Aileen snapped, "I'm not just an open book for everyone to see." Actually she'd been described as that by many people, but that wasn't the point. Her eyes narrowed further as the girl called Ginnie crazy, but for once she was going to have to try and control her emotions. All getting angry seemed to do was fuel this girl. "I can deny it and be angry, bitch." Well that worked well.
Out of the three forms had taken, T'Shan was probably the one that Aileen would have struggled with the least. She loved him, sure, but Ginnie meant more to her than pretty much anyone, and right now she could hardly look at James normally without being reminded of the imposter, let alone when it was somebody who looked like James taunting her about her friends, talking about how it was going to hurt her.... She didn't even want to look at the girl when she looked like James. Which wouldn't be conductive to shooting the hell out of her.
As somebody who shot at people with arrows on a near daily basis, Aileen could deal with seeing flesh and bone shafted through with only some revulsion. What she could deal with significantly less, however, was watching somebody pull an arrow through their hand. The sick fascination with which it was done just made it worse. For once, couldn't this girl just not no-sell everything Aileen threw at her? And then the hole closed over, and Aileen almost wanted to be sick. As the girl picked up her whip, Aileen grabbed another arrow, but she was fast running out. "I know how the fuck nerves work," She snapped, "I study biology, I was going to go to University." Of course, then she'd become a superhero, but that wasn't the point.
As the whip was cracked at her face, Aileen couldn't help but raise her bow to try and shield her face and flinch away, just slightly. As such, she ruined her prepared arrow, all for a hit meant to test her. She backed up another step, keeping her eyes on the whip. Suddenly the girl was James again, and Aileen couldn't help the cringe that came over her. Saying that and looking like him... "I haven't..." Aileen said quietly, shaking her head frantically, "Me and the real James, we never....No."

"You, a biologist? On behalf of scientists everywhere I want to say, thank you for not pursuing that career. It's hard enough for female scientists to be taken seriously without someone like you representing us."
That was pretty harsh, even for her. But she was guessing that AIleen's IQ was well below her own. Of course Chari had been genetically modified to be far more intelligent, stronger and faster. Of course she had to admit that a decent amount of her little jabs were mostly meant to throw her off. She wanted Aileen to be angry, not thinking clearly. It would make her unbalanced, force her to modify her game plan up and likely make basic mistakes. It was a simple plan, but usually the best plans were. It would be extremely effective, or at the very least, should be.
She couldn't help but smile at how uncomfortable she obviously became. If anything she almost found it funny. Especially when she made the comment about Aileen and James sleeping together. She didn't think it would illicit such a response. Maybe just brush it off. But no, this went deeper. It was certainly something she would have to look into when she had her time alone with Aileen. Of course first she'd need to capture her and make that happen.
"Real James you say? Well there's certainly a story there. Did you hook up with one of those duplicates I heard about? I wonder if what's her face, Def Leppard, was upset about that. I mean I've heard rumors that they are dating or whatever. But, we'll have time for chatting later. In the meantime..."
She cut herself off before rushing forward, swinging her shield at Aileen. Of course the shield only looked like Captain's and was instead just made of denser muscle. It wouldn't block anything but it would still hurt to get hit with it, like a fist. As the shield came around she continued the spinning motion and dropped down, aiming to sweep her feet out from under her.

"Why couldn't I be a biologist?" Aileen all but spat at the girl. Sure, she couldn't imagine what her life would have been like if she hadn't become a hero and had gone into zoology, and she definitely didn't want to think of a possible timeline where she wasn't friends with Ginnie and just watched the tech genius on the screen and thought "Huh, she's cute," or where she snorted at Captain America on TV or anything like that. Sometimes she thought about how it might be fun to be in a zoologist, but she wouldn't change the friends she'd made as a hero for the world. She wouldn't do that. "Maybe having somebody sane for once could help your reputation."
She knew it was a bad idea to let the taunts getting to her, but her guard, emotionally, had been all but wrecked by seeing James in front of her again. Not at the party, when he'd been friendly but keeping his distance. That she could handle. But how this girl played James? Nope, that was too much for her. Which meant ending this fight quickly, or getting the hell out of dodge. She wasn't looking to banter with somebody who looked like James. She didn't want to banter with the girl who'd just killed two people, of course, but James was worse.
She dropped any preparation she had planned to furiously shake her head as the girl implied that her and James' duplicate might have done it. "No-No...." she said, not sounding as sure as she'd tried to be there. This girl had no idea what she was talking about. "Nothing happened. Nothing for Ginnie to..." She couldn't do it. She couldn't keep up this argument, not when the girl was like this.
James rushing at her was an image out of her worst nightmares that practically blotted out any reasonable thought Aileen might have had, so she instead let her instincts take over. She was tempted to duck under the shield, but she hadn't just been taught how to punch and block. She'd been taught how to recognise a feint. She jumped over the low blow and tried to step inwards cutting off James'- the girl's swing, and then lashed out with the palm of her hand, aiming for the gut.

She was about to come back at the sane comment but couldn't help but shrug and nod her head. She was right though, a lot of scientists in her field were not exactly the sanest of individuals. She herself couldn't deny that she wasn't fully sane. Sure she wasn't some crazed Doctor Frankenstein, even though the comparisons to the Doctor were justified. She had tried bringing the dead back a few times with limited success.
"Nothing for Ginnie to....? Ginnie to get jealous of?" Oh come on girl di..."
She got distracted and received a powerful palm to the gut. However she'd been trained in a few version of martial arts, one of them being Drunken Boxing. This allowed her to take the hit and roll backwards with it. S/he as James popped back up and jumped into the air, spinning through the and aiming a knee at her head.
"C'mon sweetie, dish."
Of course it was likely very confusing for Aileen, or at the very least unsettling. Fighting someone who looked and sounded like James but was speaking with the same mannerisms as Chari. Of course it's not like Chari really was well known. Sure to an extent it could be argued. Miss Gamma was well known among a lot of heroes, former Titans like T'Shan and Ginnie especially. There were aspects of Miss Gamma that were real and bled into Chari as well.

It seemed absurd to Aileen that something like this could be happening barely metres away from the sidewalk. Well, maybe not metres, but she'd only ducked down a side alley, and yet it seemed like one of them was going to end up beaten half to death in broad daylight, barely hidden away from out in the open. Just one of those things that happened in big cities. She'd seen plenty of crimes happen in New York barely out of sight that still happened. Just thankfully there were people like her to stop it. And she could tell that this one was going to come down to somebody being beaten so hard they could barely walk, or one of them running away. There wasn't any conflict resolution here, there wasn't any reasonable restraint. Aileen could try to run, or she could wait until one of them was incapacitated. She was really going to need that spa day after this.
"Nothing happened," She snapped quickly, still shaking her head slightly. She was trying to refuse to remember anything that had happened in the parallel universe. Remembering that creep, his supposed "love" for her? The way he'd looked when she'd firmly told him that she wanted him to leave her the fuck alone? That terrified her more than anything that had happened in the entire crisis. More than T'Shan not being T'Shan for a whole year. More than what had happened to the real James, and more than seeing Ginnie go after Aileen's own duplicate and walk out alone. "There's nothing to dish. And if there was, I'd go to someone with half a brain."
Being called 'sweetie' unnerved her as well. She'd long since figured out this girl wasn't entirely sane, but she didn't know how, or to what extent. Maybe to her, this was friendly? Well, probably not, seeing as she seemed to be trying to make it as painful as possible. Maybe it was just a taunt then. Aileen was having to think hard to keep in mind that this girl wasn't James. As much as she might looked and sound like him, as much as Aileen wanted to shrink away, she wasn't.
Aileen hadn't been expecting the acrobatics from this girl, so she took the knee to the head unawares. She spun with it, doing a full three-sixty, and then swept a leg out, trying to trip the girl. The side of her face was smarting now, and her ears were ringing slightly.

She, well James more accurately, couldn't help but laugh at her quick and sudden response. It was obvious something happened. Whether or not that was something interesting was open for debate. Either way, she was intrigued and would in the end, getting all of her fun little secrets, especially sexual ones, would be very interesting. Oh the things she could do with that kind of information. She knew all kinds of fun secrets about the Avengers and she and Julius could do so much. Sure she wanted Kryptonian DNA but Asgardian or Super Soldier DNA would do just fine. Not ideal but it'd do the trick in a pinch.
"Oh I'll get the truth from you yet Hawkeye. Oh the things we'll talk about. What you and Ginnie do, what you and James did. What you and...well no, I know all about T'Shan's preferences. Hell, any even remotely attractive woman knows what he's into. He spends way too much time in bars picking up women. Hell everyone just assumes he's slept with you and Ginnie, probably at the same time."
She said with a laugh. Whether or not people believed that wasn't the point. The important point was, she was being messed with. Sure Chari probably could just cut her throat right now and leave her in a heap, but that was boring. As her knee connected she landed confidently onyl to have her feet get swept out from under her. She rolled backwards before popping up. She cracked her whip, aiming at her face. Sure it probably wouldn't cause her to lose an eye, but if it did oh well. Chari just wanted her alive, her condition beyond that wasn't important

You would have thought that, in all her years of being a superhero, Aileen would have gotten used to being targeted. That she'd be used to being people's enemy. But it just wasn't the sort of thing she could get used to. Knowing that somebody wanted to hurt her specifically, that they wanted her dead, captured or injured just for being her still left her with a feeling of cold dread in the pit of her chest. She'd gotten somewhat desensitized over time to it, yes, but her encounter with the other James had pretty much undone all of that. And this situation really wasn't helping. Sure, this girl, this killer, hadn't gone out with the clear intention of finding Aileen and hurting her, but it was pretty clear that that was what her intention had become. The threats, the taunts, the way she was fighting. Aileen knew that it was the way someone acted when they to hurt you, but not kill you.
"You won't get anything from me but a pair of handcuffs and a nice stay in a cell," Aileen shot back, but the longer the fight went on, the more she realised that a cell wasn't in this girl's future. Not from Aileen, at least. "What exactly do you think me and Ginnie do?" Her voice was still cold fury, which managed to hide the scared quaver she could feel building on the very situation. She'd deliberately avoided mentioning James or T'Shan, but for very different reasons. When you peeled back the traded insults and sense of bravado from Aileen in this fight, there was just panic. Pure, undiluted panic. The girl being James was screwing with her too much. She was having trouble keeping straight was what going on.
Aileen knew that one of the most important rules of a fight was not letting the other person get to you, but Aileen had broken that rules a dozen times over by this point. She was angry, she was scared, and now she was looking for an out. For the first time in years, Aileen was looking for a way to escape, she realised. Not win the fight, not buy time for someone stronger to get there. She wanted to survive and get the hell out. Aileen started forwards as the girl fell, but before she could take more than three steps, the girl was back on her feet, and her wrist was flicking. Aileen's hand shot up to protect her face instinctively, and she cried out as the whip split the skin on her wrist, causing blood to flow. She whimpered as she bit back the pain, and tried to turn and jab one end of her bow into the girl's throat in one short, sharp maneuver, a more vicious move than she was used to using.

Chari was having more fun than she'd likely admit. Of course that was likely the reason Aileen was still alive, or at least conscious. She didn't get to fight a lot. Most of her victims put up very little of a fight before dying and she didn't get to spar as often as she'd like. Of course that was primarily because she tended to kill who ever she fought. Most soldiers who were expendable were used in her experiments or were used by her daughters to test their new powers.
"Handcuffs? I knew you had a fun side. I mean sure there were rumors....SOOO many rumors about all kinds of crazy stuff you were into. I assumed they were all rumor but apparently not."
She smirked as her whip connected with Aileen's wrist. Seeing the skin split and blood begin to flow brought a big smile to her face. Well technically it was James' face but that was really just splitting hairs at this point. Of course before she could respond to the comment the bow was shot in her direction. She spun to the side, doing her best to avoid a crushed windpipe, despite it being temporary. The end of the bow graze the side of her neck though, the edge slicing her neck and drawing blood. She clutched her throat before collapsing, gurgling in blood. She reverted back to her true faceless form and lay there motionless, the whip rolling away from her.
Then she sat up and 'stared at her before changing to her usual form. She gave a smile and looked at her before grabbing her whip. She pulled herself to her feet, grabbing her whip in the process.
"Well that was fun. However I'm sure by now you're realizing you can't possibly win. So I suggest you surrender and come with me willingly....or I beat you mercilessly and take you with me anyways. Your call red."
She said with a wink.

"Handcuffs aren't that crazy, bitch," She spat. Calling the girl things like that helped. Helped her to remember that this wasn't James she was talking to. It wasn't even the usual fear of hurting a friend that was motivating her to separate the girl and James by this point. If it came down to it, she was pretty sure she could handle hurting James these days. It was just being around him that messed her up. She'd also heard the rumours the girl was referring to. "What can I say? I aim to please." She was forcing as much venom into her tone as possible.
As satisfying as it had been to jab her throat at the girl's windpipe, it hadn't helped the laceration the whip had caused, which by this point was dripping blood down her arm and stinging like fire. She'd tried to modify her costume as little as possible from how...the previous owner had worn it, but now maybe she needed to think about extending the arms so he wrists had some protection. Knowing her enemy was enjoying Aileen's pain only made it worse. The urge to grab her wrist to try and stop the pain was strong, but aside from how suicidal it might be to let go of her bow now, she didn't want to give the bitch the satisfaction of knowing how much a whip could hurt.
It was tempting to believe that the jab to the throat had killed the girl, but Aileen knew there was no way that was true. There hadn't been nearly enough blood on contact to be a damaged artery, and there wasn't the usual ratting that came with a severed windpipe. And that wasn't even taking into account the girl's healing. Biology cam in useful sometimes. So as much as she might want to hope she'd won, she stepped closer, shifting her grip back to the centre of her bow. And to her disappointment, but not her surprise, the figure taking James' shape sprung back into action, sitting up and changing into a less nightmarish form. Just back into the lunatic serial killer.
Aileen started forwards as the girl went for her whip, but she was too slow, and the psychopath had grabbed her weapon before Aileen had covered half the distance. "You'd best be ready to beat me bloody, whore," She snarled, but her backing up belied the challenge in her tone. For once, she had the advantage of having the way out of the alley to her back. If she could buy herself enough time, she could escape, regather her thoughts, her bravery, some arrows, and come out hunting again. If necessary, call another Avenger.

Chari completely ignored the blood that had smeared on her neck and down her side. SHe was used to having blood on her, sometimes even her own. Sure it was rare that it was her own, but still things happened. It seemed the pretend death didn't trick Aileen, perhaps she was smarter than Chari initially thought. Although not too smart. Since her back was to the street and AIleen could've used that moment to run and didn't.
"Beat you bloody. Seems I'm already well on my way judging by the blood on your hand. As for the whore, well I'm gonna go old school and opt for a takes one to know one. Although I didn't expect you to slut shame, I thought you were better than that."
There it was. She was slowly moving backwards out of the alley. She wasn't dumb. She knew she didn't exactly have it in her to go toe to toe with Chari, not yet at least. So she was opting to back out of the alley, maybe make a run or get to a better area where Chari didn't have better control. Smart, Aileen was smarter than Chari had initially thought. She would make a very good test subject. She'd never tried an archer before. Already her mind was going to potentially useful abilities to give them.
"Where you going Hawkeye? I'm over here, not behind you. Or do you have some arrows around the corner? Seems like an inconvenient place to hold them. Or is there a real Avenger behind you? Someone who can actually give me a challenge?"
She asked grabbing her bowie knife in her left hand, holding it underhanded. She rushed forward and swung her whip around cracking it at Aileen's chest. She then surged forward, following that and swung her blade at Aileen's face. At best the knife would hit her eyes and blind her. Most likely it would just force her onto the defensive. Chari wanted to spill Aileen's blood. If she goes into shock or passes out from blood loss getting her back to her base would be easier. Of course the concept of making her Doctor Dahlia's newest victim would be huge, but also draw way too much attention for now.

It wasn't like her, but Aileen was happy to have drawn again. It was like that line from that old Schwarzenegger movie: "If it bleeds, we can kill it." That's the attitude she needed here. Chari wasn't immortal, she wasn't invincible. She was mortal, and she was vincible. Aileen would make sure she'd at least tried to vince her before the fight was over. Assuming she ever got in another hit. Despite any optimistic thoughts Aileen was trying to cling to in this fight, she knew that it was simple: she was outclassed. Not only was she outclassed, but she was outgunned and out-manoeuvred. Her eyes dipped the the back of her hand as Chari said that. The lash of the whip was still burning like fire, and the desire to let go of her bow, just for a second, was building. Her arm was distinctly bloody.
Aileen had been hoping for the chance to slowly direct the fight further and further back towards the alleyway without Chari noticing, but she hadn't really expected it to work out that way. Nothing in this fight really seemed to be going the way Aileen needed it to, and she didn't see why the pattern would change now. Still, she almost audibly groaned as Chari called her out on what she was doing. She really wasn't being as subtle as she could hope. Still, the one time she'd been able to get the upper hand was in close combat when using her bow, so perhaps it wouldn't be too bad if Chari closed. It wasn't like Aileen had any arrows, and the whip would be less lethal. "There is a real Avenger here," She said, trying to hide the fear and uncertainty in her voice and probably not doing a very good job, "Come get her, bitch."
As Chari moved, Aileen went to take several steps backwards, but she wasn't fast enough. Her armour absorbed the impact of the whip against her chest well enough, but she still grimaced in faint pain. There wouldn't be a bruise, but she'd still felt it. And then Chari's upon her, and Aileen desperately grabs onto her wrist to try and grab the knife before it hit her in the eye. It left them awfully close, far more than Aileen wanted, but as long as she kept control of the knife, she had a shot. She aimed a knee between Chari's legs.

"Real Avenger, pssh. No, you're nothing more than a fill in. Sure not as bad as the blue guy or the magical slut, but still pretty damn pointless. Now the American killer, we'll get to the whole celebrating a country known for genocide on another day, if I let you live. Then there's your drunk little girlfriend or the annoying slutty demi-god who dresses like a whore, and his sister."
She said with a laugh. She was mildly impressed as Aileen actually managed to catch her wrist and hold onto it. Aileen assumed she'd go for a punch or even a headbutt or try to pull the knife out. Instead she took a shot between the legs. She was taught to ignore pain but some pain wasn't so easy. She staggered back slightly before smirking, but still kept a hold of the knife. She wasn't going to give it up. She knew there was a potential for the knife to end up buried in her. She flipped the handle around so the bottom was pointing up. The handle was titanium and dense, meant to cause as much pain as possible.
"Fighting dirty, I like it. If I was into chicks this fight would get awkward, or awesome, depending on how you look at it. But instead...."
She aimed to drive the handle into Aileen's rib/kidney area. She knew it would be with enough force to at least bruise some ribs if she really tried. Ideally she'd break them but it was a case of making due. Even if the shot was blocked she could use it as a distraction. She would then attempt to spin and throw her over her shoulder and down to the ground. She was going to take advantage of Aileen holding onto her and keeping her close.

Aileen's jaw tightened. It was bad enough that Chari was insulting her, echoing the same thoughts that had been haunting her since she'd been taken in the crisis. Before that, even, but had only gotten worse. But worse than that was insulting her friends and teammates, even the ones she didn't know too well, like Danny and Ada. Where the hell did this girl get off saying that about her friends? " Ginnie is not-" She began, but then stopped when she realised a few things. Namely that she wasn't sure if she was going to deny the drunk or girlfriend part, and that it was just what the girl wanted. " Leave them out of this," Aileen snapped. " And I'm more than enough Avenger for some murderous bitch like you." Her insults weren't exactly on point, but given the situation, Aileen felt like she was somewhat justified in lacking an edge. This sort of thing wasn't her element. It was the sort of thing James would handle, probably. Maybe Ginnie or T'Shan as well. But not Aileen. Still, Aileen couldn't help being satisfied as her knee struck the girl between the legs and made her stagger back. It was usually a trick that suited her well against guys, but a knee to the crotch would hurt pretty much anyone. Her victory was short-lived, however. She glowered as the girl commented that about their fight. Aileen might have had some less-than-conventional "liaisons" in her time, but nothing like this. Not with a girl who was fairly mercilessly beating the crap out of her. As the girl lunged with the knife, Aileen tried to dodge to the side and bring her bow down on the girl's wrist, but she was too slow and the knife cracked into her kidneys. Her eyes widened as pain exploded through her torso, and her knees buckled. Before she could fall, however, she was grabbed and thrown, hitting the floor with what sounded in her head like an unfortunate crack. She was dizzy and she'd bitten her tongue at least once as she fell, and it felt like her entire body was aching. Trying desperately to keep herself focussed, Aileen shook her head, which caused even more pain to flow through her. She had to stay alert for this, despite how badly her head hurt. She keyed her communicator and, as she kicked a leg in Chari's direction, choked into it: " Red alert. Avenger down." She couldn't help but smirk as the handle found the spot it was looking for. Yes she'd drawn blood, that made it even better. Sure the handle was blunt but with enough force in the weakspot it seemed doable. Either way she'd inflicted serious pain and that was what she'd wanted to do. She felt even better when she spun and flipped the girl to the ground. Chari simply looked down at her with a light chuckle.
"Well this has been fun but I think I'll just kill you now and be done with it. I was going to skin you but your face hanging on my wall would just annoy me. So I think I'll just cut your throat and make your last bloody gurgles my new ringtone."
But then she asked for help and Chari couldn't help but smirk. It was partially what she'd wanted after all. She wanted to take out a good chunk of Avengers and it would be fun. Sure she was starting with the weakest one but it was simply a case of her being there at the wrong time. She pulled her phone out and pressed record.
"If you could also beg for mercy it'd be great too."
She said before cracking the whip at her a few times. Whether it cut her or her clothes or her skin she didn't care. She then aimed for the face, hoping to take her eye.
"Well this will be fun."

T'Shan was busy at the Wakandan Embassy doing some paper work. He had always helped his sister out with ruling work. Sure she was the Queen and he was just a Prince, but he was happy. Plus he was glad to be back and doing work. Things seemed to be going pretty well for them. If anything it was almost like he was getting right back into the routine of things. But then he heard the alert on his Communi-card and instantly recognized the voice and who it came from. Without another word he and Skugga were gone. He quickly flew from New York to Metropolis and found the area. He saw an injured and bleeding Aileen on the ground with someone standing over her with a whip. The scent was oddly familiar but he'd deal with it later.
He landed right between AIleen and Chari and held his hand up, causing the whip to wrap around it. He glanced over his shoulder and saw she was still alive and that was all he cared about. But right now he'd end her so badly that she would be begging for forgiveness. No one hurt his Aileen this badly. Sure she wasn't actually HIS, primarily because he'd never bothered to say anything. But he would remedy that, he had to.
"You shall not hurt her wench."
He said before ripping the whip from her hands. Skugga meanwhile landed beside Aileen and looked down at her.
'Are you alright Hawkeye? We'll get you out of here.'
"Cover her SKugga while I end this woman."
He said before rushing forward and swinging his free fist right at her face. At the same time there was a loud crack of thunder. He was not happy and Chari was going to pay for hurting her.
