Aileen wasn't sure she could be in a worse position right now. She was practically at the girl's feet, her body in a metric fuckton of pain, light-headed and woozy, and for all she knew, help was still a few minutes away. She was prepared to crawl back and keep fighting for as long as she could when Chari talked about slitting her throat, but there seemed to be a change in the girl as Aileen called for help, as rather than go for the scalpel, she kept ahold of the whip. Aileen had just enough sense to raise her arms over her face and curl into a ball as the girl started to flick the whip. She was too slow for the first one, and it slashed her cheek, causing blood to start pouring over her face. She kept her arms raised and her head down, but that and screaming in pain was all she could do as the whip cracked again and again, stripping the skin from her arms, her neck. The whip had probably only cracked a half dozen times in reality, but it felt like much more to Aileen. One thing she was adamant on, however, was that as much as she screamed in pain, she didn't beg. Not even once.
There was a lull of a few seconds and Aileen peered through her closed arms, blood from her cheek running into her eye. She saw the girl pulling back the whip and then-
And then T'Shan Thorson landed between them. He seemed to catch the next lash of the whip and then tear it from the girl's hands, and Aileen felt relief flood through her. With the sun in the angle it was between her and T'Shan, lighting him up and giving him a sort of glow, he looked every bit some type of avenging god. Her avenging god. As the bird flew over, offering help, Aileen frowned. Her head was still hidden behind his arms, so he might not see it, but she'd always assumed Skugga hadn't liked her. No, he'd told her he didn't like her. But as he came to offer her help, she shook her head. "Help T'Shan," She gasped. She knew T'Shan was fast, and strong, and practically invincible, but she wanted overkill on this girl. She didn't want to risk T'Shan getting hurt.

She was laughing almost maniacally as she proceeded to whip Aileen over and over. Sure none of them were fatal but she was likely in serious pain. Chari couldn't help but smile as she saw the blood pour over her face.
"Aww, little Hawkeye. Did I cut up your pretty face? Don't worry, I'n sure you're still slutty enough to get some attention. I mean your class level might go down but some people seem to be very happy dating 4's and below...I'm sure."
She was getting too into it though, seeing the blood flow and the pain she was inducing. She hadn't even paid attention to the crack of thunder until the Demi-god himself was between the women. Then suddenly the whip was ripped from her hands and she prepared herself with the knife.
"Never skinned a god before. This could be fun. Although maybe I'll let your little archer friend have some fun with your body before I kill her too. Don't let it be said that..."
But her taunt was cut short as T'Shan's fist slammed into her chin. With a spin she flew 15 yards back and landed on top of one of the bodies from before.
"Oh Thor Boy. I forgot how hard you can hit."
She said sitting up, her head turned at an awkward angle. She took a hold of it and snapped it back into place.
"Not sure why you concern yourself with the little red headed skank, especially when you can have someone better. Don't look so surprised, I watch TMZ and you seem two seem to pop up a lot. Never together though, odd. I mean sure there's the occasional fan fic online, but that's for another time. I know for a fact team members tend to hook up constantly. As for now, we're not done here..."
She said before pulling out an ornate and odd looking whistle. She blew but no sound came and then looked at him with a smile.
"Don't worry Thor Boy. This likely won't hurt too much."

After delivering the punch he figured it was most likely the end of the fight. Sure there were some who could stand up to him. People like other Asgardians and Kryptonians as well as a handful of others. Sure he hadn't used his full strength, but he'd also sent her flying in the process. If she survived she was likely done with consciousness for some time now.
"Just be still Hawkeye. Relax. I shall get you out of here and get you patched up."
But then he heard a name he hadn't heard in at least 8 years. Only one person used the name Thor Boy and finished it off with a smirk similar to that.
"Missy? No, you are dead."
Of course then she began to ramble on and taunt. He haunted when they taunted. primarily because his time in a cell had taught him he was not good with it. Sure he could brush off physical attacks, if anything he was actually good at it. However when it came to verbal and psychological his skills were questionable. He wasn't liking this whole thing. Yes he knew it might be dumb that he fawned over Aileen when she seemed uninterested. But at the same time, he was also a friend and not exactly a wise person. As she blew the whistle T'Shan tried to shake it off, his senses picking up on the pitch while Skugga seemed to be impacted more. Then there was a moment of silence before three blurs, pink, blue and green, appeared. T'Shan was taken by surprise and suddenly he felt small hands and feet hitting him with force he was not prepared for. He was picked up by one before the other two slammed him back to the ground next to Aileen. Then as he looked he saw three young girls, not more than 8 standing between him and Chari. One breathed a blast of ice making a wall between the girls and T'Shan and then he saw them fly away.
"Not a word...."
He said with a groan before sitting up.
"Come Hawkeye, let us get you patched up."
He grabbed Mjolnir and then did his best to gently scoop her up with one hand. Luckily given her frame and his strength it was rather easy to hold her with one hand.
"Is now a bad time to mention that blood makes you look sexy?"
He asked with a laugh before spinning the hammer and taking off into the air, with Skugga beside him.

Aileen could only watch as T'Shan came to her rescue. She figured she was out of danger, so she allowed her arms to drop from her shielded, curled-up position. She tried to wipe the blood from her eye, but more trickled into it just as quickly. She wanted to think that he'd ended the fight with that one simple punch, but she knew that was too good to be true. The girl was a lot of things, but fragile wasn't one of them. Still, as the girl lay still on her victim for a second, Aileen dared to hope. And then that hope was dashed as she spoke, sat up, and seemingly reattached her spine. Jesus Christ, how were you supposed to stop this girl?
She wasn't sure how much she was able to focus on the ensuing fight between T'Shan and the girl. Not that it was much of a fight. She strained, trying to listen to the conversation between the two, but her ears were still ringing and she couldn't make out all that much of it. Still, it sounded like they knew each other. Or she knew him. Or he knew her. Something like that. It wasn't all making sense in her head. How would T'Shan know a supervillain? A dead one or something? And then suddenly there were blurs that Aileen assumed were from whacking her head, but then it looked like they beat the crap out of T'Shan and threw him over by her, so she didn't know what to think.
One thing she didn't expect to happen next was for the girl and what looked like three even younger girls to fly away. By this point, she wasn't entirely sure she wasn't high. Or maybe she'd just smacked her head way harder than she'd thought before the whipping. None of what had happened in the last minute made sense. Aileen groaned as T'Shan got to his feet and picked her up, looking up at him. He'd jostled some of her worse cuts, but she wasn't going to complain. As he took off, she weakly clung to him. "Thank you," She said in an embarrassingly pathetic tone of voice. She tried to smile as he made her comment about blood looking sexy, but that just caused her cheek to start bleeding worse. "I'm glad I at least look sexy right now." She had blood streaked down her arms from still-bleeding lashes, one dripping down her face, and one that was presumably dripping blood onto the street below from her side.

With Missy, Chari, or whoever that was gone, T'Shan could turn his attention to Aileen. Either way he needed to get her away. He also knew there was a decent a chance she could bleed out before they got to the mansion. Yes he could take her to a hospital but also couldn't ensure that she'd be safe there. He didn't know why the two were fighting, but all he knew was that Chari seemed to want Aileen dead.
"Oh Aileen you always look sexy."
'Have you never seen her in the morning with bed hair and smelled her breath?'
T'Shan landed on a roof and gently set her down. He pulled his shirt off and began tearing it into strips.
'Did you have to remove your shirt for that?'
"My abs may help put her at ease."
He said before beginning to bind her injuries. She had a lot of cuts. It would help to slow, if not stop, the bleeding. That way she could at least travel a bit safer. He carefully bandaged her side careful not to get too close if she wasn't wanting it.
"Ok, you should be safer to move now. Then we can get you patched up better."
He said before picking her up again. Yes she was patched up but he figured she was still weak and at the end of the day, injured. But he also felt they weren't safe still. Those girls were fast and Missy or whoever that was was very dangerous. Swinging Mjolnir he took off again, with Skugga beside them. They'd get back to the mansion in no time and Jarvis or whoever was in charge of the med lab could take care of her.

When it came down to retrieving her as a casualty, T'Shan was probably actually Aileen's favourite person. Ginnie was always careful and made sure Aileen was okay, but she also had a habit of telling her off for being so stupid and getting in over her head. And, while it was nice to know Ginnie cared, that sometimes got a bit wearing. Whereas T'Shan seemed more interested in making sure she was okay, and also keeping her spirits up. Grinning or laughing wouldn't help her face, and would actually probably make her look slightly grotesque, so she instead had a small smile on her face as she looked up at him. She was glad he came.
"When have you seen me in the morning?" She asked Skugga, but her voice was slightly hazy, and it was hard getting her thoughts in order. He probably had. They'd done early morning missions, she slept at Avengers Tower pretty much full time these days. It was just easy to think that Ginnie was the only Avenger who'd seen her in the proper morning. Aileen blinked and looked around as they landed. They couldn't be at a hospital yet, surely? Or at the Tower? Right, a rooftop. T'Shan had landed for whatever reason. As she saw him pulling his shirt off, she blinked again, wondering how hard she'd hit her head, but bit back the comment that came to mind. She probably wouldn't be able to deliver it properly anyway.
With her wounds at least bound a bit, she felt a little better. She at least didn't feel like she was going to gush blood over everything they flew over. "Are we nearly there yet?" She murmured, but from what she could see, she couldn't place where they were. She knew what was happening to her, of course. She was a biologist, she knew at least the vague functioning. She was in possible shock from blood loss, and definitely concussed. But despite knowing that, and despite knowing how bad an idea it would be for her to fall asleep right this very second, it was still so very tempting to just close her eyes and pass out in T'Shan's arms...

'I am more observant than I am given credit for Hawkeye. You'd be surprised how often I go completely unnoticed. It's impressive considering I am a giant bird.'
T'Shan laughed lightly at their little back and forth. He never knew what their issue was, it was annoying. He wished they'd get along as they were two of his favorite people. Sure he was aware Skugga wasn't a person but at the same time he was closer to him than most people. Really the only non family member. Sure he wanted to be closer to Aileen, but that was more his fault than anything else. He knew that but was trying to find the right time. He was tempted now that she was in his arms, but she was also bleeding out. So there were more important things to deal with.
"You need to learn to be more patient Hawkeye. Just try not to pass out. The important thing is, you are safe now."
He said with a laugh before they landed in the Avenger's mansion yard. He knew the med lab could help her. He loved the automation they used. Sure he'd never actually needed to use it before but he could see the appeal. The important thing was they didn't need to wait for a doctor to help her. He rushed into the mansion with her and quickly took the stairs down towards the med lab. Skugga meanwhile had landed on T'Shan's shoulder and was hitching a ride. He laid her down on a table and the arms began to do their work.
"I will wait outside. Do you need anything?"

Aileen generally wasn't a match for Skugga even when she had her right wits about her. When low on blood, after a faintly traumatic fight, with a concussion? She didn't stand a chance. And T'Shan didn't seem to be leaping to her defence either. He didn't think she looked a state in the morning with bad breath, right? She shook her head. That really wasn't what she should be focussing on. What should her attention be on? She frowned. It was so hard to keep her thoughts straight. All she wanted was to curl up and take a nap, but she knew that was a bad idea. Not with a concussion. "I am?" She asked in a small voice right before they touched down.
Aileen was dimly aware that they were in the Avengers Tower as T'Shan started to run, but most of her attention was focussed on him. And not rolling out of his arms as she was jostled by the motion. Her arms, face and stomach were still burning from the lashes, but one good thing about the knock to her head was that it all hurt so much less. Aileen gave a low-pitched groan of pain as T'Shan ran down the stairs, the bouncing motion jogging her stomach, and she could feel more blood welling out against the impromptu bandage he'd wrapped around her.
She sighed in relief as she was lain down on the cool table. A robotic arm injected the vein of her wrist with a needle, and Aileen gasped in pain, but then almost instantly felt better as the painkiller flooded through her. Her eyes fluttered closed for a second, but then she opened them as the hands started to remove the bandages and peel away fabric in the way. Her stomach turned as the marks on her stomach were truly exposed, and she hastily moved her eyes up to T'Shan. "No," She said, "But thanks. I needed the help."

He attributed her unsure about being safe to the blood loss and probable concussion. Of course a small part of his mind wanted to say she was distracted by his shirtless form. But of course if he said that out loud not only would Skugga never let him live it down, neither would Aileen, Ginnie or James who were certain to find out.
"You are. I will always have your back, always."
'Despite what I tell him, the fool.'
"Seriously? Now of all times?"
'I never had a good grasp of when is a good or bad time.'
"Aye, that is true."
He said as they moved down to the med lab. He knew eventually the arms would begin removing clothing which was why he wanted to give her space. Sure he was not opposed to seeing her naked, however this was not the circumstance in which he wanted to see it happen.
"We are friends Aileen, no need to thank me. I shall always answer the call."
He said before slipping out of the room, Skugga landing his shoulder.
'That was terrible. Besides you just saved her. Now is the time to tell her how you feel.'
"She is injured, lost blood and now being pumped full of pain killers. Besides, what if she shot me down?"
'Seriously? You once fought a dragon with a thigh bone and some little red headed Midgardian woman has you nervous?'
"It is complex."
He said shaking his head. Of course he had no idea Skugga was ensuring that Aileen heard the whole conversation. Skugga was looking forward to this. If T'Shan wouldn't tell Aileen how he felt, Skugga would do it for him. After all he was there to look after T'Shan and help him, as decreed by the All-Father Odin himself. Sure it was possible Aileen would either write it off as a pain killer fueled delusion or not even realize they were talking about her. That was fine. Skugga would do his best to at least ensure it was no longer some little secret crush. He was a demi-god and royalty, Skugga would ensure he acted like it...for once.
