JJ had some free time. He'd signed on for a movie that wasn't going to shoot for awhile and he had some time away from Wayne Industries. Plus it seemed Rayne had a Suicide Squad mission so he needed to take his mind off it. Yes she was strong, smart and capable, but he still worried. So he had no choice but to try and take his mind off it. Plus he needed to do some work with Barby. Yes her training was going great and she was really coming along. However, she needed to do some work on her team work. Well that was his excuse at least. In reality he didn't have a baby sitter and she insisted on training. So he figured he'd give her some teamwork training as well as. Sure in a few years she'd eventually join the Titans, he hoped. Which would open up a whole new world of training for her. But just like his dad and Bruce, they want to ensure they're ready for everything. The Bat Boat, version JJ had honestly lost count of by now, pulled up to the little bay the Titans used. Hitched up to the dock there was a couple submarines, a boat large enough for a large amount of Titans and a wide variety of ships used by various members past and present including a Viking longship left over from when T'Shan was a member. JJ couldn't remember the story behind it but felt it was like a lost bet. He was wearing his Blue Bat suit and had Barby beside him in her Nightingale suit. It was a simple black sleeveless suit complete with domino mask, fingerless gloves and skirt. It was a simple design, but it worked. Her final design would be much more intricate, but JJ was still designing it. He hoped out of the boat with Barby behind him, checking her gear. Meanwhile JJ began to type into his gauntlet. He sent out a beacon to all of the Titans. It was a special frequency used by the new mentors, JJ and James. They'd taken over ever since the whole doppelganger incident. They usually let the Titans do their thing, only stepping in when need be and just to ensure everything was alright. They stopped by to do a few training exercises but usually they treated it as a way to get away from everyone else and relax a bit. Well that and ensure super powered hormonal teenagers hadn't killed each other. He took the stairs quickly, arriving at the top floor, the primary living area of the Titans. 'They have a bigger TV than us.'"We're not getting a bigger TV."'Then how about the dog?'"You're killing me Nightingale."He said with a light laugh. He then turned his attention to where he figured most of the Titans would be coming from. He didn't know who all would come but was curious as to what would happen. He had a few plans. Well, she was an American girl raised on promises Gabrielle had been doing some flight and mind melding exercises with Swift most of the morning. For a good majority of it, she had spent it doing loops and rolls over the city, her and th falcon trying to fly in sort of unison patterns. Where they could, they would practice aerial dodges, with Swift flying at her as if he was going to attack. That had gone on for a good hour or two, with the pair stopping into town briefly for something to eat. After that, it was back to the tower where the patriotic youth perched herself on the very top and focused on melding with the bird. It was usually rather simple to meld with Swift, the two sharing such a deep bond. The moment she had opened her eyes, she knew she wasn't seeing with her own. The sensation of the melding was always interesting. Everything she felt was because her bird was feeling it. Everything she heard was either his thoughts or the sounds he heard. "Time to fly, Swift," she thought to it. The bird stretched out his wings and took off from off her shoulder. She could feel the wind ruffling through his feathers as he soared through the sky. The flight didn't last long though as he noticed someone dock at the island. Diving down quickly, he landed on the boats edge and stared at the two figures moving towards the building. The question of who they were filtered through the bird's head. Just then Gabby herself heard something, a short alarm of sorts. That was Captain America so it meant it could only be one person: Blue Bat. "He's a mentor. Come on, I'm detaching and going in," she informed Swift before closing her eyes again. She felt like everything was rushing into her as she pulled her mind away. When she opened her eyes again, it was her own sight she was seeing with once more. She moved to the edge and stared down, waiting for the bird to get to the living room window before she dove off. Her wings stayed folded until she felt like she was about a hundred or so yards from the ground before spreading out. Her body curved up so she could pull up, chuckling softly to herself as she did so. She loved how it felt to dive. Flapping her wings a few times, she hovered outside the window, listening in on what Blue Bat and the girl were saying before opening it and going in. Lowering herself to the ground, she folded her wings back up and pushed her goggles up to her forehead. She looked fron side to side quick before grinning. "Yes! First to greet!" she cheered ro herself. Swift came to perch on her shoulder, giving her cheek a small peck to tell her not to be stupid. She ignored him, however, this time. "Anyway, Nightingale, huh? That's a nice name! I'm Gabrielle Wilson. Or Miss America. Doesn't really matter, everyone knows both. Most people call me Gabby, though."With introductions out of the way, she moved over to the couch to sit on the back of it, balancing somewhat precariously as she stared at the two non-Titans. Her elbows rested lightly on her knees and her head came down into her hands. "So what's the deal, Mister Bat? Is the Captain coming, too? Or is this just a you thing?" The excitement at the possibility of Captain America showing as well was evident in her voice. xxx | TNG Staff @titans | doing this by phone because her muse wouldn't shut up about this last night. i will get other posts up later possibly by phone. unless i get my lappy back, then i will definitely do other posts. and, as usual, if you want me to add anything or change anything, just let me know! |

Enrique was sitting in a rather abandoned section of the Tower. Apparently they'd discussed making it a school before the Battle and then construction was halted. He liked to come to this area to meditate and commune with the spirits here. Not many hung out in this part, but the interesting ones did. The ones who knew more and, like him, kept to themselves. Sure like any young hero he wanted to one day be an Avenger or JL member, but he was content to not be one of the big names. He'd be a smaller one, doing good but over shadowed. Which is fine, he didn't like the lime light, it was never for him anyways.
Then he heard his communicator. One of the mentors was here. He didn't mind the mentors really, but he did also seem to like that they were teaching them. They seemed to really be putting effort into them, like some sort of graduating class. Sure in a year or two a good chunk would be eligible for the big two, provided they didn't just go for it now. Hell Sebastian, Lydia, Marty and Walt were talking about auditioning from what he'd heard. He didn't like that they had to audition, as if they had to prove their worth. He used his ring and quickly changed into his Speed Freak suit and was there in a blur, right behind Gabby apparently.
"Careful Senorita America. Keep talking like that and Azuldel Palo will think you're not happy to see him. Then I fear he will take it out on all of us."
He said with a laugh. Of course he knew how much of a fan Gabby was of James....everyone did. She didn't even attempt to hide it. Hell she probably had pie somewhere for him, if he ever showed up. Provided he or Walt never found it. He then noticed Nightingale, his....sidekick? She seemed to talk like a daughter and given the apparent age difference it wasn't out of the question.
"Hola Nightingale. Are you coming to try out with us?"

Gabe had been spending the full day at the Titans' Tower. This hadn't been to help any more with crime fighting or training or other typical things the other Titans would do this for. It was to find somewhere quiet, that was away from Cassie, rather, to read. It would probably seem counter productive to do this at a base for teenaged superheroes, but as of yet, it worked better than the alternative of whereever his sister currently was. He'd bring school work out to the Tower too, more recently. For a teenage sorceror, it was about as easy as walking to another room to make the journey from Pennsylvania. And it was pretty easy to find somewhere quiet. He was fairly engrossed in his book (so what if he was re-reading the Lord of the Rings again?) when he got the signal. Gabe jumped, became completely out of balance on his perch on the windowsill, and had to catch himself with one hand. Luckily he had the window shut, too, or The Two Towers would have had a fall out of the Titans' Tower that would rival Gandalf and the Balrog falling from the Bridge of Kazud-dûm. As it was it fell more gently onto the floor and Gabe winced as the page that had been open folded against the floor. He hated when books got damaged. The book landed on a table a second later. Gabe used his magic to conjure his costume, and then to disappear into the next room along from where the others were. He didn't want to make a fool of himself here. He might appear on a table or something, and then fall over, and look like an idiot in front of either of their mentors, both of whom were, frankly, awesome. And neither of whom he particularly wanted to look like an idiot in front of. He'd probably die of embarassment. Landing in the next room seemed better. At the very least it made him seem less like he was using his magic just for ease, even if that were the case. Gabe was, naturally, as any nerd here would be, both nervous and excited. Nerves would be winning but for not wanting to be making an even worse impression from not even showing up. Gabe walked through into the meeting room om the tail end of Enrique's first comment. His Spanish was fairly par for someone his age, and of his background, so naturally, was guessing what Enrique meant when he lapsed. Gabe's eyes were scanning the room as the older Titan spoke. He wasn't great at anything socially based but even to him it seemed obvious that Nightingale was Blue Bat's daughter. Blue Bat who kicked utter villain ass, Gabe added mentally. That didn't help the whole deal with two new people here, and his introvertedness. So when he responded to Enrique's comment in what he intended to be a confident manner it still was very nervously delivered. "Looking by who she's with and what we can then assume about her training, she's in already. Me against her, she'd be winning." Okay so maybe he wasn't counting in powers to that assessment. Either way, Gabe was fairly sure Nightingale wouldn't need a try out when she wanted in the Titans. For him at least, he was fairly sure he could learn more about fighting off villains from her than she could from him. Pretty much all of his crime fighting so far had resulted awfully, or at best with him fighting giant farm animals and pretending to know what he was doing. Either this was a training session or standards had fallen dramatically in who did recruitment try outs.

Jor yawned as he looked away from the display in his lab. He had been dividing his time between his lab in the Tower, his apartment and the Fortress reconstruction going on in Antarctica. The lab had provided him no answers to his failing powers, so he continued to tinker with his upgraded Superboy costume. It looked more like the original Superman's costume except that it was laden with Kryptonian technology to simulate as many abilities as he could. The scope was rather limited due to the design, but he had force fields and shock absorbing materials for invulnerability, anti-gravity and teleportation tech to mimic flight, and force blasters built into the gloves to mimic his energy blast ability. The gravity system could also be adjusted to simulate super-strength, though Jor was down to a fraction of his full strength even with the hardware.
After looking at how much time he'd put into the adjustments, Jor decided to take a brief shower and clean up. He dressed quickly in jeans and blue t-shirt with the stylized 'S' in yellow and red on it. He pocketed the compact version of his costume, and grabbed his communicator, only to find it actually going off. Jor sent a response and then wandered up to the common area, fetching himself a snack on the way in. One of the things he was still getting used to was that he could feel fatigue and hunger now. Before, he had always just eaten or slept because he wanted to try things. Now, it seemed he had to do both to function.
Jor opened a banana, taking a cursory glance around. Gabby, Gabe and Enrique were here. He wondered who else would show up. Martin was taking a leave of absence after his temporary other universal exile. Lydia would probably be here. Walter might already be here and several other places. Jor wondered if he should call Zoey, but he knew she had a communicator as well. "Greetings, Blue Bat and Nightingale. I am glad to see you both." Gabby's excitement about Captain America was well documented and Enrique's comment made Jor smile. The Kryptonian scientist had gotten better at reading body language. He looked over to Gabe and decided to defuse some of the tension. "Gabriel, are we going to begin watching Doctor Who tonight as planned? I am eager to resume my pop culture training under you. Zoey says I have been spending too much time in the lab lately and not enough time relaxing."

JJ had been expecting some less than enthusiastic greetings, especially from Gabby. Her love of Captain America was known to everyone. Why she was obsessed with James he didn't know, also didn't really care to look into it. Either way she would still do as instructed, that was what he cared about. Nightingale however was less reserved in her reactions.
'Pssh, no. This is only Blue Bat, ya know, the better of the two mentors.'
"Careful Nightgale. Don't anger her, she's stronger than she looks."
He said with a light chuckle. He noticed a few others show up. It wasn't the turn out he'd hoped for but it would do. Especially since aside from Jor these were the Titans most seemed to over look. Everyone noticed Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, Brother Blood, the Flashes, but these ones seemed to go almost under the radar. Just the type he liked.
'Just starting Doctor Who? I'm excited for you. I'm still working on Baker though.'
This conversation went right over his head. Yes he was aware of Doctor WHo and had met Tennant a handful of times. He was a nice guy and secretly he was jealous of his massive fan following. Maybe he should try and get an appearance on that show. Perhaps first start watching with Barby. Sci-fi was never his style, but perhaps he expanded his reach. He'd discuss it with his agent another day. In the meantime he'd focus on this training exercise.
'Alright, we're going to do a training exercise on team work. Nightingale is here because she has no experience in teamwork, only one on one. While this is not a try out for her, as she's too young, the results will be used in determining if and when she does get accepted."
He said, looking at her with the last half of his sentence. She seemed to shrink back and look away. She mumbled something about not needing any extra team work, she was fine on her own.
"Alright everyone, to the training room. This is an old training exercise we used to do when I was younger and the team had too many damn Robins on it. We have an odd number but we can make this work."
He said walking towards the training room. He stopped outside the door and began to type on the computer on the side. The room was neat but still a hand me down from the X-Men. It was better than the one they had when hew was younger, just an empty room with weights and punching bags.
"The teams are America, Thaumaturge and Nightingale against Superboy and Speed Freak. You're Speed Freak now right? Either way you two. No powers."

Well, she was an American girl raised on promises Gabrielle gave something of a sheepish grin over towards Enrique. He was right, she shouldn't let herself seem like she wasn't happy to see him. The slightest of red blush touched her cheeks from the embarrassment as she looked from him to Blue Bat. "I mean, not that you're not awesome to have around here, too. Because you're totally awesome! I was just, you know, curious. Because it'd just be sooooooo much more amazing if it was both of you. So awesome. So..." She was about to start repeating herself again. And she knew that she was already over doing it. So she looked down, trying to shut up. She was pretty sure if he could, Swift would have rolled his eyes. Already, he was giving her cheek another peck. He'd told her not to be stupid. And yet she was already doing just that, wasn't she? Perhaps she needed to learn to not talk for a bit. Yeah, that'd be good. So she shut her lips, kicking her legs slightly as she remained sat on the edge. She was happy to see Gabe was joining them here today. Was great as Jor and Enrique were, Gabe was one of her best friends. Him and Adam. If only Adam had shown up, then it'd be perfect. Though she had to say, she was a little disappointed that, say, Lydia or Zoe couldn't be here, too. Balance out the sexes a bit. Then again, they didn't really need them, did they? Gabby was good enough to prove just how much better chicks were better than guys as a whole. She had to keep her mind focused on that, anyway, as to not try and get too agitated by what this Nightingale had said. 'The better mentor'? As if. No one was better than Captain America. Oh, the heart eyes she had. Hero worship was something people were often warned against but that was never going to stop her. She could hear Swift quietly congratulating her on her ability to not start a fight, and she smiled a bit at the bird before returning her focus to the mentor. Team work training, huh? She usually did pretty well with team work, so long as it was someone that she could actually work with. Gabe, she knew she'd have no issues. Enrique and Jor would probably be pretty easy to work with as well. However Nightingale? She wasn't entirely sure about her. She could only hope for the best if she was teamed with her. Without hesitation, she slid off of the couch, wincing slight as she felt the falcon's talon's dig in just slightly as to not fall off. "Cool it with the nails," she muttered to the bird before following after JJ. She was still buzzing with energy, secretly hoping that at any moment, the Captain might just show up. But she'd have to try and make it look like generalized excitement. Hearing the pairings, she beamed. Sure, she might have to work with a stranger, but it was still her and Gabe. Nothing could go wrong, right? However, she did raise her hand to ask a question. "Is the no powers just generalized or just those two?"Thinking there was a little more to life somewhere else ✿

Enrique watched and chuckled as Gabi was pulled out of one hole and then proceeded to dig herself into another one. Her fascination with Captain America was well known but in this instance he was concerned for his own well being. He'd heard stories that Blue Bat had an ego, and should that get damaged it would get bad. Especially since he would take it out on all of them. Enrique could only imagine just what Blue Bat would do if he was angered or if his ego was damaged. As he listed off the teams he glanced over at Jor. Jor had been slightly odd lately, but Enrique himself was odd so he wouldn't judge. Plus he'd enjoy having someone of Jor's intelligence on his side, especially since Enrique was more gut instinct than brains.
"Vamos a aplastar esta Jor."
He said with a smirk and a wink. They were going to win, he knew that. Well, until he heard the part about no powers. The no powers thing would make it tricky, but it also made sense. His speed and Jor's Kryptonian powers would make short work of this. Sure Gabe was super magical or whatever but he didn't seem to rely too heavily on it though. But now that it was no powers it would get really tricky. Especially since the other team had numbers and height. They were smaller, meaning they could get around unseen better than Jor or he could, or in areas they couldn't reach.
"So what are we doing exactly Blue Bat? Seems unlikely an all out fight. So it has to be some sort of game. King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Tug of War...."
He was curious about this now. He was even more curious about this Nightingale. Sure he assumed she had solid training given her father but he didn't know what else she brought to the table. Either way she was arrogant, it was impressive for someone so young.
"Real quick question before we go in. Who is the red head that keeps following Nightingale around? She's been with her ever since you showed up. She looks...familiar."

”Have you already watched Girl in the Fireplace, Jor? You’ve got to watch them in order. Or at least, a sensible order.” Gabe took the opportunity to head closer to Jor to make his enthusiasm… slightly less painful for everyone.”We are definitely watching Doctor Who. Normally I say start at the beginning, but loads of the tapes are lost or damaged, so I think a better strategy is to-“ Detailing the exact order that he had timetabled (systems were great) in front of one of their mentors was probably not a good way to seek popularity with him. His volume was slowly decreasing as he realised how nerdy this would sound to Blue Bat and Nightingale. ”…You know, I’ll give you the full version later.” That seemed like a reasonable abbreviation. It was better than listing it all out at least.
It was at the end of Gabe’s tirade to Jor that he realised Gabby was still trying to dig smaller holes for Blue Bat. Gabe at least agreed with the last bit of what Gabby was saying. Of course having both of them would be best. He just didn’t want to admit that to any of the Bat-family (Or Bat-men as Cassie called them).
Gabe shot a smile across at Gabby and started to move closer before Blue Bat had even finished his rules. ”No powers? Please just be those two. Without my powers I’m just a nerd in cosplay.” He wasn’t sure if the no powers would even put them at a disadvantage though. He doubted Nightingale had any powers (yet), and although both he and Gabby were pretty powerful, he knew better than to underestimate speedsters. Set up any task to defeat them and somehow they’d manage it. He should know; his uncle and granduncle were both speedsters, and arrogant, obnoxious ones at that. And that was before Kryptonian powers were considered. But Gabe really would be just a nerd in cosplay if it came down to a fight. And he imagined Gabby’s wings would be a hindrance more than a help if she weren’t allowed to use them.
At least they had Nightingale. He wouldn’t have to have his exact level of fighting incompetence shown, hopefully. Gabe was really hoping Enrique’s deduction was right.
”Redhead? Unless it’s a civilian visitor, it basically has to be either Robin or Hawkeye, right? And why would Hawkeye be here?” He was probably just being too optimistic. It seemed unlikely Robin would turn up here.
