It had been an interesting week for Arthur. First having to fight Springheeled Jack and his goonies from pulling a Guy Fox and stop them blowing up the house of parliament while they were in session, then there was this whole thing in Iceland which involved Blackbriar Thorn and this weird plan to plant an evil world tree bent on world city destruction and finally was that whole thing in Georgia with Brother Blood X and that blade and all in all Arthur is exhausted and could really use a nap. Of course Arthur hated taking a nap or any kind of sleep in general, but it would happen eventually for the hell hole that would await him. He was lying on his bed in his apartment in New york for a while now trying to postpone the sleep, but the exhaustion would have caught up with him eventual.
He expects it every time. It never changes, but it always frightens him to his core. Arthur was standing in a full suit of armour wielding his shield and sword. He started moving around the fire pits and pits of seemingly ended darkness. It seemed he was walking for hours. At least it meant he slept longer then usual meaning he'd be better rested, but in his sleep he was feeling tired in his sleep and decided to sit down near one of the dark endless void pits. A bad idea, but his nerves were getting to him. Nothing had happened yet and the suspense of something coming to kill him was looming. He felt a presence near him like something floating over him. He looked up and saw a gaping mouth of a death worm. "Aah fuck me." The worm lunged and started swallowing him whole. The pain was immense like something he's never felt before, he could barely take it anymore and...
And he woke up in a drenched soaked bed. He looked at the clock. 1PM. A nice long nap that would have been a good nights sleep if the waking up made him feel a bit strange, but at least he was feeling better. He stood up and took some clothes out of his closet and started changing into them. A pair of jeans and t-shirt with the green lantern logo and headed out the door. He was in the mood for a game of chess, which for Arthur was a nice stress reliever. He grabbed his satchel and put in the chessboard of Gwenddoleu ap Ceidio. He exited his apartment which was located to closely to the battlefield. Which meant that the rent was relatively cheap, but a seriously depressing view. He started making his way towards what was left of Central Park.
When he arrived he already saw some people playing, but at least there was an empty playing table and set down the chess set and the pieces started setting themselves and the chessboard all of a sudden started speaking "Ba Mhaith leat a imirt cluiche?"
"Níl, Tá mé go maith."
"go han-mhaith." Arthur helped his head in his hands hoping no one saw him talking to a chessboard. Especially in a language not many people understand.

Having gotten out of class early, Lydia decided to get a head start on her photography assignment. There was always something interesting to be found in what was left of Central Park. It certainly made for some interesting shots, the slow crawl of nature trying to reclaim the rubble that marked the battlefield. The signs of life moving on in the foreground as people enjoyed the park on a sunny day, with ruined buildings looming in the distance. She had brought her sketch book along too just in case she saw something she wanted to transfer to canvas later.
Lydia liked the park. It always seemed to signify hope for her. That time marched ever forward and everyone just scurried along in it's wake. Wandering for a bit, snapping shots of people enjoying the sun. While looking through her camera lens a bit too zoomed in, a green lantern symbol caught her attention. Jerking back suddenly, she pulled away from her camera to look up and see who was wearing it. She gripped her lens unconsciously, wondering who would be wearing her father's symbol. Then of course she called herself silly once she saw it was a tshirt. She liked to tempt fate herself and wear a Ms. Marvel shirt sometimes, like today. She chastised herself as she looked over her camera to make sure she hadn't done any damage to the lens before walking over. He looked familiar to her but it was hard to place him. She ran through a list of classmates in her head and immediately dismissed it. He didn't go to school with her. Then it dawned on her.
"It's...Arthur...right?" Lydia asked, sitting down across from him. She'd seen him at the very least on a roster file, though she wasn't sure she'd seen him around the Tower. He was an on-call Titan as it were. She held out her hand, smiling, making sure to avoid knocking over any chess pieces. She knew the very basics of chess, like what each piece did and where they could move. It was more Phil and James' game anyhow, as they seemed to like to play a long game while each was in some other part of the world. She'd find a chess board on at least one of Phil's screens in his office, keeping track.
"Sorry, hi. I'm Lydia. Ohhh this is awkward...um," she thought for a moment how to say how she knew him without giving anything away to potential eavesdroppers. She had nothing. "I like your shirt," she finally spat out.

He looked up as a familiar stranger walked up to him. A name didn't pop into his head, but her face seemed oddly familiar and it was starting to bug him. Especially when she called him by his name. Now he was desperately searching for a name to fit the face other wise it would make this encounter even weirder then it already was.
"Uh... Hi... Yeah It's Arthur." He said taking her hand in a handshake. He felt she had a firm and powerful grip for someone of her body demeanour. He was trying so hard to put a name to the face, but in the end it was a futile effort. He was glad that she finally did tell him her name, even though Arthur had never met a Lidia before. So this brought up a few rather important question. How did Lidia know who he was, and why does she seem so familiar to Arthur. The moment seemed to linger a bit when she said this was awkward. Arthur was at a lose of words and had no clue what to say. The comment about his shirt did lighten the mood a bit.
"Oh, uh thanks." He said finally noticing what shirt she was wearing. It looked like Arthur wasn't the only one wearing a superhero shirt. A Ms. Marvel one. Arthur diverted his gaze towards the battlefield and the many statues that now covered the landscape. "So I guess I wasn't the only one who decided to cheer for their favourite heroes today. You know where ever they might be." He said pointing his finger up in the sky.
"So, Lidia, you play?" he said gesturing the chess board.

Stupid! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Lydia berated herself mentally. She hadn't really come over here with much of a plan besides wanting to get to know another part of her team. Having a magic user on call was always pretty handy, never know when you needed someone who knew about spells and and ancient artifacts. And she liked knowing who was on her team, made working with people easier, or at least more predictable. It was really the only way she could work with Sebastian.
She had gotten so wrapped up in berating herself, she barely caught his question as he motioned to the chess board. It took her a few moments to put together he'd even said anything before she nodded. "Oh! Um. Kind of. I know how to, but if you say things like 'Queen's rook to knight four' or whatever, you've lost me. I know that pawns can move forward two spaces on their first move and that the knights only move in L shapes, but chess is really something my brother and my....my dad play. They're more about strategy than I am." She always hesitated calling Phil her dad. He legally was, of course. But her real dad had died, just across the way. On the battlefield. She looked over at it for a moment, immediately picking out the statues of her parents, even from this distance. She still couldn't really think of Phil in Kyle's place, but it was just easier sometimes to call him 'dad' rather than explain everything.
"And, I usually know where my favorite heroes are, they don't move much anymore. Or...if they do, I can always call them. Cause, you know, we're all in the same business." Oh yeah, real smooth transition Danvers. Great job so far with the first impressions. She groaned inwardly, trying to keep a small smile on her face to hide her inner monolog.

He laughed at Lydia's explanation of the diehard chess fans. Arthur never really understood why they did that. Sure he knew some people with magic or high tech chessboards where you basically just said that and the pieces moved them self, but the chessboard wasn't one of those magical ones and he usually found it odd when people would do the whole naming out the movement of the pieces thing. He found it weird and it would make him look more of a nerd then he already is.
"Don't worry, I don't do the whole announcing the movement of the pieces something so, you don't have to worry about that. Hell even I find that weird and don't worry the games quite easy when you understand how it works." He said while an itching in the back of his mind about how she looked so familiar, he was tempted to use his telepathy, but he knew as was raised better then that.
Same business? What does she mean by... Oh OOOH. He thought to himself. At least now he realised where he saw her face before.
"So you're actually... you know Captain Marvel?" he said leaning in and whispering the last part.
"I have a way we can have this conversation without any over hearing if you'd like, but I don't do this unless absolutely necessary or if I get the others persons approval first." He said silently "So, you in?"
