PHYSICAL
Height:6’
Weight:190 lbs
Hair Color/style: brown
Eye Color:green
Anything Else:
Various scars all over his torso and arms from training with his mother and being tortured in a Shi’ar Prison camp.
Equipment and Weapons:
Nova Corps Uniform: Charles is equipped with a Nova Corps Uniform. This allows him to channel the Nova Force into a variety of powers and also serves to protect him from the harsh environment of space.
Powers:
Nova Force empowerment: Charles, much like the other members of the Nova Corps, draws on the energy source known as the Nova Force. This allows him to perform his function as an intergalactic law enforcement officers. The Nova Force grants him a variety of powers.
Flight: Charles' gravimetric powers allow him to defy gravity and fly through space. They also allow him to achieve faster than light travel, letting him travel to other planets.
Super Strength: The Nova Force empowers an officer with super strength to deal with the various beings that they encounter in space. Charlie can lift around 20 tons thanks to this.
Super Speed: The Nova Force grants the user super speed to aid in the pursuit of criminals.
Energy Blasts: Charles has the ability to fire gravimetric blasts from his hands and uniform. Charlie's blasts are capable of vaporizing various metals/alloys on Earth and in space. The drawback to these powers is that the more invulnerable an enemy is, the less effective these gravimetric blasts are. Charlie could hold his own with Captain Marvel, but a full blooded Kryptonian would be too much for his abilities.
Enhanced Healing Factor: Charles has been granted an enhanced healing factor from his mother, Gamora. Though the full limits of Charlie's regenerative factor have never been tested, it has been theorized that he could regenerate limbs and organs if needed. His healing factor begins repairing the damage, as soon as it occurs. The speed in which it heals those wounds, depends on the severity of the injuries. The Xandarian Worldmind can augment his healing factor with the Nova Force to allow him a more rapid recovery. In addition to that, his Nova Corps uniform is capable of healing more severe injuries via a repair and regeneration sub-routine powered by the Nova Force.
Superhuman Durability: The Nova Force gives Charles a certain degree of Invulnerability, which allows him to withstand the hostile denizens throughout the universe. Charlie can withstand all sorts of conventional injuries. He can withstand high caliber bullets, falls from tremendous heights, exposure to extremes in both temperature and pressure, powerful energy blasts, acidic corrosives, and tremendous impact forces without sustaining injury. While employing the Nova Force, Rider can easily withstand the rigors of deep space indefinitely. The downside being that Charlie can be injured by beings in the same strength class or higher.
Energy Manipulation: Charles can manipulate energy of the Nova Force. The Nova Force is used to create gravimetric energy. This allows him to generate shields, for defense purposes. He can also generate star gates for space travel and weave gravimetric nets or create gravitational nodes which allow him to pin an opponent to the ground.
Superhuman Stamina: The Nova Force slows the build up of fatigue toxins in Charles system, allowing him to withstand greater periods of activity.
Xandarian Worldmind: The Worldmind is a class G collective artificial sentience that helps to govern the Nova Corps. It aids in suit operations and helps regulate the use of the Nova Force allowing for precision usage.
Skills:
Skilled Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Charles was trained by Centurion Drill Sergeant Zan Philo from a young age. He is skilled in hand to hand styles from around the Universe. During his teenage years, he was also trained by his mother, Gamora.
Skilled Marksman: Charles was trained by Peter Quill and Rocket Raccoon in the use of various forms of beam and terrestrial projectile weapons. This was a skill he thought would aid him in the event he ever lost his connection to the Worldmind.
Skilled Pilot: Charles has been trained to pilot various space faring vessels during his time with the Nova Corps.
Leadership: Charles fought in the Shi’ar/Thanagarian war. He was granted an honorary command rank among a small resistance force and managed to lead them to victory many times. He is generally acknowledged as a skilled commander of troops by his peers.
Weaknesses: (3 minimum)
The weight of the world: Charles can be extremely driven. He believes that he is the only one who can solve major problems. This has been his downfall on many occasions and sometimes makes him hard to work with.
You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry: Charles also inherited his mother’s temper. It takes a bit to enrage him, but once he gets angry, look out.
And might I add ouch: Charles is extremely durable thanks to the Nova Force and the healing factor passed down from his mother. However, much like any living being, massive trauma can and will kill him. He is also not immune to the effects of old age and sickness.
The family curse: Without access to the Nova Force, Charles cell structure begins breaking down, due to a rare condition he inherited from his father.

THE REST
Personality:
Charlie can be extremely driven at times. As a child, he dreamed of being a Nova like his father and he’s never really grown out of that phase. After the death of his childhood sweetheart, Jamie Andrews, he threw himself into his work. Charlie said goodbye to Earth and became Nova full-time. By age 20, he had saved several planets and a few star systems. He carries the guilt of Jamie’s death with him wherever he goes. Because of this, he threw himself into the Shi’ar/Thanagarian conflict without a second thought, knowing he can no longer afford to screw up.
He also has a problem of getting himself in trouble by running his mouth. He has been known to do that until he is in over his head most times, but he has always believed that the proper application of Nova Force and cunning will fix anything.
Charlie is also extremely loyal to family, friends and teammates. There is not much he would not do for them. He has been known to do whatever is in his power to protect those special people in his life, once you have earned his trust. Charlie will throw himself in harm’s way for those he loves. He managed to save a colony full of people this way, but it also landed him in a Shi’ar Prison Camp for 9 months.
He tends to use humor and sarcasm as a defense mechanism, but when he drops his guard, it is obvious to see that he’s just trying to find a place in the world.
History:
During the Phalanx conquest of the Kree Galaxy, former lovers Gamora and Richard Rider were infected with the Phalanx Transmode Virus. They were both transformed into Phalanx Selects. Unknown to both of them, they had conceived a child during their brief time together. After they were both cured of the virus, they went their separate ways. Rider went back to his job saving the universe and Gamora joined the Guardians of the Galaxy under (Star-Lord) Peter Quill’s leadership.
Months later, they would be brought together by the threat of the Rift created at the end of the Kree-Shi’ar War. Black Bolt and Emperor Vulcan’s final fight detonated a powerful Inhuman weapon that tore open the universe and created a doorway to another universe, the Cancerverse. This was a universe where Death had been killed and life was growing out of control. The Universal Church of Truth, unknowingly resurrected Gamora’s foster father, Thanos, who became an avatar of Death. Peter Quill and the Guardians brought Thanos into the Cancerverse to end the threat to our Universe once and for all.
Richard Rider entered the Cancerverse to assist the Guardians in ending the invasion, and fought alongside them. When Lord Mar-Vell attempted to kill Thanos, he allowed Death to enter his universe and she killed him and began destroying the Cancerverse. As the Cancerverse collapsed, Thanos raged from his rejection by his beloved Death and threatened to destroy our universe as well. As the Guardians retreated and the Rift began to collapse, Nova and Star-Lord faced down Thanos to hold him there until the universe collapsed. Richard withdrew all the Nova Force from the other members of the Nova Corps in order to fight and Peter Quill drew upon the weakly powered Cosmic Cube in his possession. All three were presumed dead.
The Guardians went their own separate ways with Quill’s death and Gamora soon discovered that she was carrying Rider’s child. Rather than terminate the pregnancy, she decided to have the child and turn it over to Rich’s brother Robbie, former member of the Nova Corps. She travelled to Earth and delivered young Charlie to Robbie and Rich’s recently resurrected girlfriend, Namorita, at Project PEGASUS in upstate New York. Charlie’s first few months were wrought with crying bouts and plagued by pain. The doctors of Project Pegasus determined that Charlie had been born with a complication of his father’s constant possession of the entire Nova Force. Charlie’s body was breaking down, cell by cell, but his healing factor inherited from his mother was holding it at bay, for now. The doctors theorized that as Charlie got older, without the Nova Force, there was no chance he would survive past age five or six.
Eventually, Nova and Star-Lord would return from the collapsed Cancerverse along with Thanos. The events that transpired were never spoken of, by either Peter or Richard. Rich travelled to Earth to find Namorita and let his family know he still lived and was surprised to find he had a child. Richard brought the Worldmind back online and repowered the Nova Corps members, including his brother and then with the help of the Worldmind and the staff of Project PEGASUS, managed to find a solution to save his son. Richard created a connection to Charlie and gave him a small trickle of the Nova Force, regulated by the Worldmind, so that he would develop normally. The Worldmind regulated it so that Charlie would not develop Nova powers as a child, but would be able to live a normal life.
Richard and Robbie went back into space to begin rebuilding the Nova Corps, with Charlie in tow. Namorita and Richard continued a long distance relationship until they married when Charlie was seven. Charlie was raised by both of them and other members of the Nova Corps aboard the starship Pride of Xandar. At age ten, Charlie asked Centurion Zan Philo, the most experienced officer in the Corps, to train him in various martial disciplines. Zan trained him with Richard’s blessing. By age fifteen, Charlie was a skilled combatant and was granted admission to the Corps. He requested the rank of Corpsman, the lowest rank in the Corps and wished to be given no special treatment, even though his father was Nova Prime.
At age sixteen, Charlie would encounter his biological mother, Gamora for the first time. She captured him easily and then promised to train him so that he would bring honor to her. The training was brutal and worse than anything he had ever experienced in Nova Corps training, but when he was done three months later, he was adept at various martial disciplines, both armed and unarmed. He returned to life in the Corps, but continued his extra-curricular studies under his Godfather, Peter Quill and Rocket Raccoon in order to become a skilled marksman. He had decided during his training with his mother that he could not rely on the Worldmind for everything and needed to develop his skills.
Charlie also fell in love with Jamie Andrews at this time. Their parents had fought together on several occasions and Charlie and the Andrews siblings had developed close ties over the years. Wyatt Andrews had become one of Charlie’s best friends and confidants over the years. Jamie Andrews was a different story. Charlie and Jamie had plenty of friction growing up, which eventually evolved into the young Nova having feelings for her. He doesn't like to admit it very often and continues to spend time with her, despite Wyatt's objections.
After Jamie’s accident, Charlie decided to leave Earth. He went back to the stars and became a Nova full-time, deciding the stars were more exciting. This was what he told most people who asked. The truth was that, he wanted to be close, in case Jamie ever needed him. He threw himself into his work to keep busy and decided that it was the best way to keep his mind occupied.
By this point, the Nova Corps was up to a few hundred members and functioning fairly well as a police force again. They were nowhere near the operational capacity of the Green Lantern Corps, their rival organization, but they were becoming effective once again.
Since answering the call along side the Green Lantern Corps to assist with the Cabal on Earth, the relationship is warm between the Lanterns and Novas. There is still an inter-Corps rivalry, but they are capable of working together and have on several occasions.
Charlie’s trial by fire came when hostilities between the Shi’ar and Thanagarians broke out. He ended up stationed on a colony, which was believed to be out of harm’s way. When the war came knocking on their doorstep, Charlie held off Shi’ar forces and allowed the small colony to evacuate before they could be completely destroyed. He ended up joining up with the survivors that stayed behind and forming a resistance against the Shi’ar. Eventually, they made Charlie their leader and began referring to him as “Commander Rider”. Unfortunately, Charlie was captured, while covering his troops retreat. He spent the next 9 months in a Shi’ar Prison Camp, locked up and being tortured by Shi’ar interrogators.
Shortly after his twenty first birthday, Charlie’s father and Peter Quill managed to free him from the Shi’ar. Charlie was promoted to Centurion after his gallantry in a war between the Thanagarians and the Shi’ar.
Charlie spent weeks in rehabilitative therapy before Rich decided to send him to Earth. Charlie was hesitant to return to Earth, since he had abandoned the blue world for an existence in space. His father simply phrased his request in the form of an order to help Charlie with his choice. Richard thought that it might help his son to see friends and family. Grudgingly, Charlie went to Earth, because who wants to argue with Nova Prime?
Charlie's father warned him against joining any superhero teams until he got his bearings on Earth. Charlie suspected that it might be a little left over resentment towards the JLA and Avengers for not helping him in the Annihilation War, but he decided to honor the request.
Charlie has been splitting up his free time going between spending time with Jamie and Wyatt in space and helping SWORD in the upgrading of Earth's defenses and extra-terrestrial intelligence data.

Sample RP:
The Nova stood up and dusted himself off. Charlie looked down at the crater. The last thing he remembered was going to ask The First One to cease and desist trying to kill everyone on the planet. And then things got a little fuzzy. Right. It was all coming back to him. He got hit with a bag of asteroids. He gave it to the shiny guy. He hit like the broad side of a planet. Charlie looked around. The job was simple. He had to evacuate the planet or get Galactus to stop this guy. Simple. Easy. Typical Thursday.
"Worldmind, I need you to transfer full gravimetric power to everything. I need to go punch a former Herald of Galactus in the chops."
"Charles, may I remind you that the last time this being was encountered, Peter Quill had to sacrifice his ship and an entire planet to stop him? Even the Silver Surfer has had trouble in the past. This is very dangerous. You will not be able to do this alone."
"Well, not with an attitude like that, I won't. Geez." Nova took to the sky increasing his speed. He circled the planet, going higher and higher, slipping out of the atmosphere. He'd seen the infinite mass punch done before. And this wasn't going to be anywhere near that. Charlie broke through the gravity field and headed for the edge of the solar system at his best speed. When he got to the edge, he turned back and accelerated as fast as he could. It was his turn for a surprise. He transferred as much energy as he could to his flight systems and got as close to light speed as he could.
Then, the Human Rocket impacted with The First One and sent him reeling back a few feet. A few feet. Charlie looked at him. "Oh, Crap."
"Correct, human." And then there was a backhand and Charlie's world went black. When he came to, he was in the medical bay on Knowhere. "What happened? Where am I? Am I dead?"
Peter Quill looked up from a book. "You stalled a former Herald of Galactus until we got there and kicked his ass. You're not dead, though I'll bet you'll wish you were. And you're right where you think. Because Jamie made us bring you here so she could scream at you when you were well enough."
"So, same as usual then?"
"Yeah, normal Thursday."
