Resting on the lido deck, Jamie was enjoying her time off. The star cruiseliner had stopped to let it's passengers see some rather amazing solar flares coming off the star twin stars in this system. She was just enjoying being able to work on her tan. She didn't get a lot of time to wear a bikini pool side guarding the galaxy. Pete had given her the tickets and she knew better than to question them. She had learned not to look too hard at things he handed out and just enjoy them. Because if she did, there was always ulterior motives attached to it. And drinks with those little umbrellas in them were more than enough to keep her happy.
She picked up her datapad and picked up where she left off on her murder mystery. She was usually pretty good and figuring out whodunit, but this one was throwing her off a little. She had it all figured out by this point most times. She was in the middle of a rather suspenseful scene when Pete's face appeared onscreen. Jamie damn near dropped the datapad in surprise.
"Andrews, I see you're enjoying your vacation."
"Quill...why do I have a feeling you're about to tell me it's over?" Jamie frowned at him, looking around before sitting up.
"It's not. Just...consider it a working vacation." Jamie groaned and rolled her eyes. "And I see you took no time in giving yourself an upgrade to a suite."
"Hey, I work hard, I deserve the good stuff. And their firewall was child's play. What do you want?"
"Glad you asked. I received a tip that there's a job out there to rob that ship. And with the casino on board and some rather wealthy passengers..."
"That's a big score. Yeah. But they'd have to have people on the inside already. Oh." Jamie sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "And I was a test to see how easy it was to put someone in. Thanks. So much, Peter." She stood up, sighing andd grabbing her wrap and tying it at her waist. "So much for a relaxing vacation. Send me what you have and I'll go over it with my people."
"Your people. You're cute, kid. Just call them your boyfriend and and brother. I'll send them now." Jamie hit the off button and wandered back inside to go find whoever she could spot first. And then change. She wasn't foiling a robbery in her bathing suit. That was just ridiculous.

To the enlightened mind, even the smallest world holds wonders without end.
Wyatt wasn't sure why that quote was running around in his head, but it was. Perhaps it was because of the milieu of math and daring-do. The math being standard 'card counting' and the daring-do being concealment of a few additional cards here or there. All the usual tricks one would employ when trying to nullify the advantage the house tends to have in casinos.
So far, though, he had yet to make any grand efforts at switching out cards. He was still getting a feel for the game and the table around him. His fingers drumming a bit as he listened to the dealer, glancing at his cards. "Another drink, Monsieur-Garcon!" He called instead, gesturing to a wandering waiter.
Maybe I should have brought Lestrade with me. Wyatt eventually considered. Running a scam on a whole casino was usually easier with a partner. Especially one who's thumbs weren't quite so easy to break. Or Mycroft. Or Worldmind. He added after a moment. The two AIs would probably have considerably more success keeping track of the odds of any given card that might still be in the deck after all.
"And speaking of people paying attention..." Wyatt muttered to himself, quite suddenly. A few larger examples of one of the more humanoid species of the galaxy were starting to make their way towards his table. "Onnn second thought, I think I'll see the lot of you later." He offered with a wink, scooping up various chips and stuffing them into his pockets. Either they were coming for him, in which case it was time to wander off, or they weren't... in which case he could just pick up again later, no harm.
Either way, he'd need to find someone to cash these chips. Like hell he was going to trust his sister or Charlie not to take out a fee from his winnings!

Just kill the party with me, blast it back to the row After all of the work she'd been doing trying to find her brother on Earth, it was about time that Luciand'r took a break. It was a tad ridiculous, six months and still no sign of Morkand'r. If he was on Earth, wouldn't she have at least found a small clue to tell her just where he was? Or was she just that terrible of a sleuth that she just has been missing all of the obvious signs? Whatever the case might have been, she had been growing tired of it and, well, earthlings were a bit of a bother to her. So, after hearing about this cruise-liner, she had made certain she had been booked on it. She was well overdue for what the humans called a 'vacation'. She wondered if there was a Rannian or Tamaranean word for it? If there was, she'd never learned it. Or really heard it in use. Then again, why would she when her mother didn't seem to believe in taking breaks. She had gotten herself quite a nice room, one of the suites. There was no way the Princess of Rann was going to be saying on a luxury liner as if she were a peasant. Oh no, she pretty much refused to live as such. She stood in her room, using one of the 'mirrors' to fix herself up. She wanted to have fun but she also wanted to look nice. Most of her clothes were from earth, however, something she didn't quite favor, but it was currently the best that she could do. It wasn't necessarily the most extravagant, but she had found the purple dress to be quite pretty, a bit simple but it fit her like a glove. Her long red hair was left untouched, cascading down around her face, the curls seemingly bouncing with ever move she made. She wasn't the biggest believer in shoes, but she was wearing a pair of low black heels. She figured they looked nice with the dress. Her hand kept fluffing up her hair, trying to get up the courage to actually go out there. She'd paid a lot to get this room, to go on this little vacation, but now that she was actually here, most of the time had been spent in her room. But not anymore. No, she had to have a little 'fun'. "What you are doing is not wrong. Mother would have no qualms," she told herself. She was lying to herself, of course. She knew her mother would have her hide if she knew but she hoped she could use the excuse that she had thought she might be able to make some political advancements with any other princes or political figures of other planets and universes out there. It was a good excuse, she gathered. Taking a deep breath, she finally moved out of her room and started down the halls of the liner. Her feet were taking her towards the casino. That was where people on Earth went to relax. It should be fun, yes? Yes, lots and lots of fun! Or she could always hope. Her green eyes scanned people as they went passed. Some were going out to their rooms while others seemed to be finding their way to the deck. She could have gone to the deck too, she supposed, but nothing she could see out there would really be all that new. A casino, however, that was something she'd never really experienced before. She had been kicked out of the one on earth when she had tried. Apparently, she was not of the right age. They were no longer of the living, which made up for it in the end. At least in her book. As Luci strolled into the casino, a couple of larger almost human looking men pushed past her. She narrowed her eyes at them, but they just kept on moving. She decided to follow behind for a moment, ready to have a word with them and, well, if their manners weren't sufficient she had plans to show them that they ought to respect a Princess. However, before she had the chance, her eyes caught onto someone familiar. Someone she knew. Her annoyance seemed to vanish as she watched him move away from one of the tables and move towards the other side of the room. For a split second, she eyed the aliens before deciding they weren't worth it. No, they were safe. For now, at least. She ran a hand through her hair, fluffing it out once more before her feet started to make her go after the boy. She could have been wrong. It might have been someone else. Or it could be just who she thought it was. There was really only one way to be for certain. "Wyatt?"Just leave the party with me, and never go home ✿

The twin suns were rather warm and the drinks cheap. As much as Charlie was curious about Sheriff Longmire's latest mystery, he was passed out face down on the bed. He was sporting a pair of shorts and a blue Hawaiian shirt. He stirred slightly when he heard random movement outside his cabin. Charlie stirred slightly and then opened his eyes. He looked around. His helmet and pulse pistol were on the nightstand. His girlfriend was nowhere to be seen. That was normal. She was enjoying soaking up the sun. Charlie had planned to go back out and soak up the sight of her in a bikini, but he passed out before that happened.
He got up and stretched, his body cracking and popping. While Jamie not being around wasn't that alarming, the fact that Wyatt was probably wandering around unsupervised scared the crap out of him. Charlie left the cabin and wandered around, looking for people he knew. Jamie had swung a suite for them, in that way she had with things. When she told Charlie that, he filed it under things he probably shouldn't ask too many questions about. He wondered if he should bring the pulse pistol with him, belatedly. It wasn't too much of a concern though. Charlie just didn't feel like blowing his cover.
He crossed into the casino and saw Wyatt bump into a pretty woman. He immediately turned and walked back out in the direction of the lido deck. He captured sight of Jamie walking in his general direction. "Hey, Princess. You're a sight for sore eyes. I passed out reading again. This was a great idea." He gave her a grin. Charlie pointed back towards the casino. "Hey, your brother is meeting up with a woman in there. I'd steer clear. I think it's that Tamaranian he's always talking about."

The stars drifted by slowly. Marty sat in his chair on the deck, looking out at the expanse of space. He'd gotten a pair of tickets from Peter Quill via Jamie Andrews and asked Lydia to come on a cruise with him. He looked over at her. "C'mon. This is way more fun than anything you could be doing right now. Besides, what's the point of knowing people who can travel through space in an afternoon, if you don't take advantage of it every so often." It was true. Marty always thought they should take advantage of their abilities once and awhile to have some fun and loosen up. It was important to avoid burn out, he would argue.
He pitched this trip to Lydia one afternoon, after assuring her that it was in fact two separate cabins. He didn't want to give her the wrong idea or impression after all. He could have brought Walt, but the ship would have been out of supplies halfway through the week and that would have made things quite interesting. There was also a small concern about James finding out about this and leaving Marty in a shallow grave somewhere, but he put that out of his mind.
"We can spend some time with Charlie and Jamie later. You know Wyatt's always a blast... If he isn't in the brig by this point in the trip. Along side Rider, usually." Marty looked at his watch. "Three hours into the trip. That's about the time these things should start." He looked around as if waiting for someone to come tell him that Wyatt and Charlie were locked up. He gave Lydia a grin. They both needed a vacation. What was the worst that could happen?

Lydia had to admit when Marty first pitched this idea to her, she immediately shot it down. There was no way they could leave for that long. And she had a massive backlog of homework to get through. And, being stuck with Marty on a ship (ie no escape) didn't sound as appealing as he probably thought. But with the separate rooms and he idea of actually going out there made it seem doable. And now, looking up through the force field around the decks at the vast expanse of stars, she was glad Marty had convinced her. She could sit out here all day just looking out at those big balls of gas in awe with a small smile on her face.
"Yeah alright, you were right. For once." It was a bonus, she would admit, that they weren't the only ones on board that she knew. She had let Phil know she was going off planet with Marty and had left explicit instructions he not tell James, at least until they were away. And he was right, the Andrews clan were usually more entertaining than anything that might be provided on board.
"Average time is about three hours. Yeah. More than enough time to get into trouble anywhere." She smiled back.

The familiar sound of "Princess" filled her ears and Jamie's face cracked into a grin. His hair was a mess and he still looked half asleep but Charlie was a sight for sore eyes. The unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt didn't hurt either. As he stopped in front of her, she reached up to his cheek, shaking her head at him. It was fine he was sleeping so much, he rarely got to. She ran a finger along one of the creases indented in his cheek from the sheets and let out a soft chuckle.
"I can see that, sleepy head." She smoothed his hair over before he said he'd seen Wyatt. In the casino. With a woman. A Tameranean woman. "Oh hell no. Not on my watch." She handed him the data pad and started to storm into the casino. Wyatt had more than likely been counting cards, something she'd been planning to do to amuse herself later. But if Wyatt was doing it now, and getting in trouble, more than likely to impress his little red haired friend. She did not need him stuck in the brig because he was showing off.
She was about to go in through the door when she spotted Marty and Lydia. Oh she was going to murder Peter when she got back. She did not want to play babysitter if he was making her work while on vacation. But, she could find uses for Marty's ring out in public that would be much more subtle than having Charlie run around with his helmet on. She made a quick detour. "Hey, you two, stop stargazing like love struck teenagers and c'mere. This just stopped being a pleasure cruise." Then she went back on her way to rescue her little brother. She spotted him across the casino, his pockets stuffed with his winnings. Just great.
"Wyatt!"

Okay, the two large humanoids were DEFINITELY following him now, and losing himself in a crowd was going to be difficult if for no other reason than even amongst physically similar species, humans tended to have traits that stood out. Skin coloration, presence of hair, things like that. So, he needed an exit plan and he needed it PRONTO.
It was fortunate, then, that he heard his name twice. Once, louder, and somewhat angrier was obviously his sister. He filed the tone away as something to deal with later. Of course, if I have to fight my way out, it's nice to know she's here. And if SHE gets into a fight, the first time a stray punch hits her, Charlie will somehow sense it and rip his way through the nearest wall before hurling most of them away like bowling pins. Sure, the Nova's intent might not have been DIRECTLY to help Wyatt, but it was none the less a reaction to be counted on.
The second voice, though, was quieter. More curious... and sent the gears in the human's head working before his eyes widened with both recognition and... a plan! He started weaving his way back towards the voice and a very familiar length of red hair. Oh yes, now he had a plan to work with!
As soon as he was close enough, he fell into step right next to the Tameranean Princess with a wide grin before clearing his throat.. "Whoa, whoa, fellas Do you really wanna get the kind of bad press that comes from harassing a guest of Princess Luciand'r of Rann?" Oh yes, THAT brought pause to these fellows. After all, they knew enough to know she was a guest on the ship... and enough to know the reputation of the Queen of Rann.
"Think it over, guys. Is whatever you think I did really worth offending the royal family of Rann? And possibly losing their patronage? And the patronage of people they would bring? All that money just... walking out the door?" Wyatt mused, steepling his fingers playfully. Of course, this whole plan was reliant on one simple thought: that Lucy would actually back the blonde's bluff!

Just kill the party with me, blast it back to the row She heard another say Wyatt's name. Distinctly feminine. Somewhat angry sounding. For a moment, she thought of finding it's source and questioning why they were looking for him but then the realization that she was actually right hit and, well, that just had her a bit too happy to care all that much. She couldn't help but wonder just why the boy was on this cruise, though. What were the odds he'd even be here? If she really wanted to sit down and think about it, she could probably figure them out, but there wasn't much of a point. The other question still lingered, of who the angered sounding peasant was that was yelling his name. She would most certainly pay for such a crass tone. She must find this woman after she properly greets blonde. As he seemed to get into step with her, she was going to offer him a smile and say something until those thuggish imbeciles that had so rudely pushed past her before caught up to them. There was the slight hint of a sneer on her features as she narrowed her eyes at them. She would have spoke first but Wyatt, clever as he was, spoke first. She listened to his words and, for a moment, they honestly confused her. Until she mentally put the pieces together. Oh, they were going after Wyatt. Well, they most certainly would have to go through her first. She tried to imagine those television shows she had watched back on earth. What was it that 'girls' did? Physical contact. Make some sort of show that he was indeed with her. She wrap her arm around his, turning dark eyes towards the two men. "Yes, I really would not like having to tell the Queen of such blasphemous behavior. But please, if you wish to continue harassing my guest, then surely we can also simply have your tossed into the next star system we may pass. I do wonder how you may fair in the vacuums of space." She kept her stony glare on them a moment as they stammered their apologies and slowly started to move away. She waited until they were out of sight to grin, letting go of his arm to move in and try to hug him. Hugging was an appropriate greeting, yes? She had seen many a human do it on earth and on the tv! So surely, it was okay, yes? "I am surprised to see you here, Wyatt Andrews. What are you doing here?" She asked. Then she remembered the voice who had called out to him earlier and began wondering again. "I do believe I had heard some other female in search of you as well. Are they with those want to be brutes? I can have her taken care as well."Just leave the party with me, and never go home ✿

As Jamie smoothed his hair, Charlie gave her a grin. "You know me. Down time seems to agree only with my sleep schedule." The look on her face when Charlie mentioned Lucy to her told him that he'd said the wrong thing. He hadn't told Jamie that to get him in trouble, but more to steer her away from interrupting them. Then Jamie stormed off towards Wyatt, pausing to yell at Jordan and Lydia on the way.
He sighed. It was sheer luck that he had to share a trip with Martin Jordan, the most arrogant Lantern in the space sector. Lydia, he didn't mind so much. He'd been friends with her growing up and Charlie had always thought she was nice in a kid sister kind of way. At least she'd grown out of the annoying phase. Marty, well, Charlie was fairly sure he was growing into that phase rather comfortably.
"Oh, leave the two of them be. They don't even know they're in love yet." Charlie replied sagely. He'd seen the looks they were giving one another and could recognize the look on Jordan's face from at least a light year. Judging by the quickness of her step and the urgency in Jamie's voice, Charlie perked up. "This is one of those working vacations, isn't it?"

"Can you say that one more time? I think my ring recorded it, but I want to make sure. It's so rare someone tells me I'm right." Marty gave her a little smirk. He liked hanging out with Lydia when she wasn't being insufferable. It was rare, but it did happen occasionally. He wasn't really sure what prompted him to invite her on this particular trip, but it worked out. He had taken her to Oa to see some records and a memorial for her father. When the trip was over, he planned on taking her back to Oa.
Kilowog had informed Marty that they still had some of Kyle's things in storage from his time on Oa and would have whatever they had dug out by then. He wanted to give it all to Lydia and make sure that she had some of his things. It was going to be his surprise. He wanted to make amends with Lydia and show her that he wasn't always a jerk. And then Jamie walked by and told them to stop gazing at the stars like love struck teenagers. "Hey, nobody's love struck over here, thanks." And then he saw Charlie walking after her throwing a shrug his way.
"Huh... Wyatt must be ahead of schedule. This is a new record." Marty looked over to Lydia and got up as well. "Let's go back them up."

Grabbing Marty's ring hand, Lydia pulled it close and failed to keep a patronizing grin off her face. "You were right. Jerk." She held onto his hand for a few moments more before letting it go. He was right, this was really quite nice. And she was glad he asked her along. He hadn't been as insufferable since their little day off at the tower. He actually was trying to be a decent person. She quite liked it. He was actually pretty awesome, she was starting to realize and could see how Walt put up with him for so long, of his own volition.
She had just started to go back to looking at the stars when she heard a familiar, albeit abrasive voice calling to her and Marty. She scrunched up her face and shook her head at Jamie. "Get some new material, Andrews! That's getting old real quick!"
She watched Charlie trail after the older blonde, coming to the same conclusion Marty did. Wyatt was the one in the dog house at the moment. Charlie seemed just along for the ride. Well, wherever those two went, interesting things were sure to follow. She got up with Marty and nodded along with his assessment. Time to be the muscle.
"Well, so much for taking a break. It was starting to get boring anyway," she smiled and followed after Marty, Charlie and Jamie.

Jamie remembered having those kids looks on her own face not too long ago. But she didn't have time to play matchmaker. Charlie was right, and she nodded to him to indicate as such before handing her the datapad with all the info Pete had sent over. It wasn't much. Just a list of important passengers and the things they brought along and the people who were supposedly there for the heist, but maybe there was a clue there. Maybe Charlie, with his cop brain could figure it out. She'd only glanced at the list anyway.
"When do we ever actually get a vacation?" Jamie didn't even slow down to see if Marty and Lydia were following. She needed to get to her brother before he got himself into trouble. well, worse trouble than he normally did. Wyatt could talk his way out of a paper bag if he needed to. She just didn't want him to need to.
She could see him, clear as day from across the casino. It was was easy to spot him, she'd been doing it her whole life. Of course it was easier now that he'd chosen to run away from her and toward the very brilliantly red-headed Tamaranean. I swear, he's just like dad sometimes. Always going after girls who can put him through walls... She was not able to move through the crowd as fast as she liked as there seemed to be a big group surrounding a table. She didn't even stop to see what was going on as she could tell by the shouts someone was on a hot streak. She was zeroed in on her brother, the two very mean, very bulky looking guards that had stopped him, and Lucinda. For a tense moment, she thought she might have to start bull rushing her way through people, but the guards scurried off after what looked like some fast talking on his part and some glares from the princess.
After getting clear of the crowd, she made a beeline for Wyatt, grabbing him by the ear, just like their mother used to do when either of them were in trouble. "You! Do not run away from your sister when she calls you. She could have life saving information. Or a case." She let him go after a moment, quickly establishing that she was Wyatt's sister, and therefore a) not his jealous girlfriend, and b) not an immediate threat to the crowned Princess of Raan. Were she a less loving sister, she'd play up that first angle just to mess with him. But she knew, for some Einstein forsaken reason, he actually liked this one. So she settled for humiliation instead.
"And as it so happens, this is now a working vacation. Go cash in your not-so-hard-won chips, we have work to do."

Wyatt had just enough time to feel relieved when the heavy muscle finally trundled away before he felt a quick pressure on his ear, letting out a startled 'Yuh-oh!' as he was pulled by the offending appendage. "Leggo, I wasn't planning to do Van Gogh for my Halloween costume this year!" He asserted, flailing his arms pointlessly in Jamie's direction.
Still, when Jamie started her angry recriminations, he fell into his usual 'sibling banter' with her easily enough, even if he WAS trying to pull his ear free. "Well I'm certainly not running TOWARDS you. That sends the wrong message, ya know?" But, once again, his focus shifted almost completely to Jamie when she mentioned a 'case' as he reached out randomly in the air above her head and wiggled his fingers.
"Gimme-gimme-gimme!" Wyatt asserted quickly before he was reminded of the whole reason he'd enlisted Lucy's help in getting away from those bouncers... guards? Whatever they were. The chips he'd hastily stuffed in his pockets... and a grin spread across his face.
"Right. And, Jamie, I'd like to introduce you to my Watson for this case. I'm sure you've seen her on the news-" All at once, the human emphasized his point by looping a free arm around Lucy's waist and drawing her next to himself. "Princess Luciand'r of Rann. Or Lucinda. Or Lucille. Or Lucy. She's a woman of many names and more talents." He added on, as if trying to sell Jamie on the idea of letting the two of them team up.

Just kill the party with me, blast it back to the row Lucy felt herself go from ecstatic to mildly annoyed faster than she thought was possible, even for her. But sure enough, as some blonde human gripped up Wyatt's ear and pull him slightly away, she felt annoyance and a slight bit of anger bubble up. If it weren't for the fact that she wasn't wanting to get herself kicked off of the cruise, she probably would have responded a tad bit violently, defensively. What stopped her from even speaking out in anger at the woman, though, was the fact that she said that she was his sister. She kept quiet for the moment, eyes narrowing towards this 'Jamie', though, as she felt her fingers twitch. She probably could have hit her. Just once. But no, she was going to try and be a good girl, for once in her life. He had work to do? Oh, that was almost saddening. Perhaps she could tag along with this 'work' and see what it is that Wyatt Andrews does to begin with. She wasn't even entirely sure. She knew that he seemed to do quite a bit of traveling, considering he used to come to Rann, which surely had to be out of his way. And she knew he was from Knowhere, so that had to be quite the travel for a human living out here. She was actually somewhat surprised to be keeping to herself the way she was so easily at the moment. She didn't want to create trouble for his family, if it was anyone else, she was sure that she could hardly care that much. So while she half listened to what Wyatt and Jamie were going on about, she turned her eyes to the others following Jamie. Two of them looked around her proper age, one male with very dark hair and a ring on his hand that led her to believe that he was a Lantern quite quickly. The other, yet another blonde that looked rather too innocent. Both were humanoid, if not human, and she couldn't be for certain that the little blonde one, at the very least, wasn't related to Wyatt as well. The third mystery member was someone that seemed almost vaguely familiar. Just vaguely. She'd probably passed by him at some point on the cruise, if nothing else. He had dark hair as well, though it was lighter than the presumed 'lantern'. She half wanted to actually get closer in order to examine further when she felt Wyatt's arm around her and her attention was brought properly back to the two known Andrews' children. He was introducing her? Yes, introducing! Oh, right then. She straightened herself out and leaned just ever so slightly closer towards Wyatt as she eyed Jamie. "I prefer to be addressed as Luciand'r, please and thank you. It is... i suppose a slight pleasure to meet you." She didn't quite know if she meant that but she felt it was what she was meant to say. Her curiosity was still piqued though and, while she wanted to ask about the others with this woman, she wanted to know more so about this 'case' that they seemingly had on this cruise liner. "You speak of a 'case', yes? What is it that is going on here that needs Wyatt working on what is meant to be a vacation?"Just leave the party with me, and never go home ✿
